  • The issue of the Dutch apology, December 19th 2022 is centered around the mental trauma of slavery and its lingering effects on both Dutch and Aruban societies. Aruban society remains stuck in a low self-esteem, believing that everything is better in Holland, while the Dutch side is stuck in a feeling of superiority, believing the Aruban side to be inferior. This creates a trauma bond between the two sides, making it difficult for either side to resolve this bond. It is essential that both sides work on themselves

Much like the Australian apology to their native people. Wipe the hands, no issues resolved

This little interview is seriously worth watching to understand the complexity of decolonization and slavery. Too bad it's not broadcasted on the Dutch RTV channels because should make people sonmuch aware about the complexity between the attitudes of the one and the other... Thank you! 🫶🏻👌🏻
