Bye drag duel :( Reasons to support the indiegogo for a season 2: 1: It allows people to show their artform and can allow people to fall in love with drag, inspire people and let the contestants show how talented they are. Without drag duel, we wouldnt know these 12 icons. 2: It is so diverse and introduces people to loads of different kinds of drag; Drag King, AFAB, Trans Drag Artist, Etc. I’ll be the first to admit that i had no idea what a drag king was going into this season, and now because of drag duel i understand and appreciate the drag that the kings produce, and i think its disgusting that they are looked over so much. If drag race showcased drag kings, they would be as popular as drag queens. 3: It brings joy to so many and gives something for people to watch on a monday, which for a lot of people is the worst day of the week. People also might be more willing to watch drag duel as it doesn’t use riggory. 4: I need to see Hydra’s stepping down look

almost 30 mins into the reunion and i’m SO happy it was addressed the unfair treatment of queens that didn’t look a certain way or specifically hate towards the brown and black queens. it’s frustrating as someone who is a fan and is black to hear the queens who’s representation meant so much to me got the most hate. it’s frustrating how much racism and homophobia is in the drag community bc it makes absolutely no sense. anyway much love and appreciation to all the performers for all your hard work to put on a great show for us all 🫶🏾
Bobby's Outfit and Mug are everything, Cristi and Orbit look so good. Titanic in Drag from the top to the mug only to be in pants Iconic, ROSA'S SILHOUETTE, THE FIT PLUS NAILS AND ORBIT just take the cake for my heart! Ms. Can, keep your head up and continue to be who you are! Susan grew on me at first I was like: Oh Camp Wanna Drag Duel? But given Susan's humor and her backstory made me love her as the season progressed (SAME FOR Ms. Can) I really came to love Susan during the roast. Calli, you're bright and an awesome entertainer, I've followed you since the Meet the warriors and I love you. Glass was one of my picks to be in the Top 4 (Glass, Titanic, Trish, and Cristi) for the run Glass had on this Season, I loved all of the looks Glass showed off (Plus the IG is litty). Sh'Needza, and Tyler made me happy to see it's rare to see a king and a queen in a relationship let alone competing against/with each other. Very good dynamic, Sh'Needza, from one POC to another you got this girl. I have faith in you, wrapping this up by saying: Lol, Hydra's mishap. TO THE JUDGES: You guys went through a lot, hate from fans, I literally ran my mouth in support of this season, my boyfriend even has a couple favs from this Show. PLEASE DONATE TO THE INDIEGOGO! Not gonna lie the way people were kinda downplaying Orbit and Tyler’s feelings towards Hydra just cause their reasons aren’t as understandable as Trisha’s kinda annoyed me. It wasn’t a one sided thing as well, Hydra made multiple shady comments towards them and their drag and vice versa.
You should ALL be so proud yourselves, thank you for showing us how drag types vary so much.. I'd never really seen much of Drag Kings but I am absolutely OBSESSED with the gender bending and SO proud of Bobby for finding himself (also Tyler for being unapologetically himself, so much admiration for people like that) Love love love you all 💖💖💖

What a phenomenal season! 🎉👏🎉 I just wanted to commend the performers for being so open and honest in this reunion about the importance of addressing transphobia, racism, supporting all forms of drag. Some really great points and great discussions 💖 All drag is valid 👏 all drag is beautiful 👏 and all of you turned it the fuck out this season 👏 I genuinely think every single contestant has walked away showing how talented and skilled they are, whether it's in terms of creativity, design, comedy, performance. Despite the conflict, despite the drama. I loved this cast and it's varied view on drag and the cultural significances the seasons brought. I love you all and congrats again to our winners
ideas for improving next season IMO (donate if you can to the indiegogo!) 1. guest judges, maybe not every week but drag race creators, drag artists, etc would be really cool to see (plus could add more exposure to drag duel) 2. give us a zoom call with all the queens, preferably one before preparations in the mini challenge episode, and after the main challenge videos are played so the winners and bottom placements can be announced (also maybe monthly group calls with the cast privately?) 3. tighten up the editing on the confessionals. it’s great being able to hear the drag artists stories, and hearing what they have to say about other competitors. however not seeing them interact, and instead hearing different contests explain drama and interactions is a little jarring. also jumping between different perspectives for narrative sake can be kinda hard to follow as a viewer 4. shorten up the episodes, not every episode needs to be an hour plus (especially non elimination episodes) Overall so happy with this first season of drag duel and can’t wait to see what comes in the future! Thank you to the amazing cast for showing off some amazing drag, personalities, and overall artistry! ❤
From the outside looking in- while it’s incredibly important to support each other in this world, you maybe shouldn’t enter a drag competition if you can’t tolerate somebody reading your looks…. I think everyone hating on Hydra was extremely uncomfortable to watch and just made Hydra more sympathetic. The entire cast is extremely talented. Titanic Donovan and Susan? are my personal favorites!! Congratulations and much success to you all!

Thanks to you all for having some very real conversations about discrimination and hate. Reminder: gender identity is not "clockable". I did a lot of work in my master's program on trans and non-binary access (or lack thereof) to health and significant percentages of trans and non-binary peoples do not wish to change their external appearance. Many do. But many don't. And some wish to have some changes but not others. And guess what? They're all trans and non-binary regardless. It's wild how many people who preach that they're progressive and not discriminatory don't even realize they're very comfortable upholding binary structures and systems. And then they often get defensive af (do the kiddos still say af?) when this is pointed out to them.
Thank you to Derek, Bucy, and all the contestants for putting on a great season of reality (RUclips) TV! Even through the negative moments, this was an incredibly entertaining show and reunion. I hope everyone involved feels enriched by the experience... I know some people felt some type of way throughout the season & probably here as well, but I hope you all can look at it fondly once some time has passed and life moves on. One thing that's been so special is feeling like I genuinely love everyone's art and every person has left a positive impact on me as a viewer. Even when I disagree with someone's take or side in an argument, I think DD has done a good job of showing the humans behind the drag. You're all so cool and inspiring & have reignited my love for drag that was honestly kinda lost after the last few seasons of Drag Race. So thank you again and I hope you're all having a good 2024
I think the drama should have been talked about more from specifically Hydra, Tyler, and Orbit. I hardly got anyone else’s perspective who wasn’t really involved other than Trisha. And while I think the cast did bring up good points, I still think there is a lot of bias since they were a PART of the cast (which is not the same as a random audience member or someone actually involved in the drama). And honestly, the stuff that Tyler and Hydra did say was a lot more insightful into the situation since their perspectives helped shaped why they acted the way they did in the first place (from my perspective at least).
This was an amazing trip, I'm so glad to have been here. It was quite a ride from day 1, and I for one am remaining subscribed on Patreon and will definitely support you on Indiegogo. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next.
It's hard to avoid this kind of a mess when the contestants are able to communicate with each other "outside" the competition, "when cameras are not rolling". I know it's hard to control them when it's an online competition but I don't think that discord was a good idea. Because, as I completely understand it, everything that happened there shouldn't be relevant and we - viewers - shouldn't care because we don't know the whole story. We can just believe this or this queen/king. That's why the queens in Drag Race live separately during the competition. There's no place for drama that viewers can't understand because all that happens - happens on cameras. I feel sorry for everyone who got hate, nobody deserved it. All these contestants are amazing. Yet, I agree that watching them hating Hydra for whatever reason was hard to swallow and I didn't like it. And as I can see here, at reunion, some of them still don't understand what they were doing. Anyway, once again congratz to Hydra for winning Drag Duel S01, you absolutely smashed it and deserved it! Congratz to Susan for winning the Miss Congeniality! And of course, last but certainly not least, congratz to Bobby for finding his true self! All the best for all of you ♥
To address the Hydra hate situation: I have never heard Hydra attack someone’s on the personal level. While she was constantly attacked ad hominem. And THAT is the biggest issue.
i personally think Sheneedza articulated the situation with Hydra perfectly. In the end i was happy Hydra won but I even commented one week I couldn’t root for Hydra bc of how she’s going about playing the game, and there is still some truth to that. once Hydra chilled and was more apologetic and vulnerable my opinion changed. but allll throughout the season Hydra leaned into the villain/ bitchy personality character and as a viewer that coupled with the negative reactions from the cast you start to think okay this isn’t an act she’s just like that. it was disappointing seeing so many other cast mates who were feeling negatively about things Hydra was saying. and i think some accountability for Hydra’s actions need to be taken into account bc where there’s smoke there’s fire, these opinions weren’t drawn from no where. and instead of doubling down i think that was the opportunity to check how she was coming across to others and to the fans. again in happy Hydra won and this is NO hate towards her this is just how it felt as a fan watching the show. edit: and so i don’t think painting Hydra as a victim is fair in the slightest. why do people like Trisha or Tyler need to play nice when it sounds like Hydra wasn’t all season. i personally think it’s extremely dismissive of the queens who were hurt by Hydra to run to her rescue when you guys weren’t the ones the situation was happening to. i don’t think it’s fair that Hydra is able to make others feel some type of way and never face any consequences. yeah it sucked seeing Hydra alone in the end but respectfully if she didn’t move the way she did it wouldn’t have played out that way. like Hydra still won for fucks sake, why are you coming for the queens who felt wronged by Hydra and not the person who handled things poorly. imo you can’t play a villain then get upset bc you’re treated as one in the end…respectfully SORRY

Rosa here! At the end of the day it’s just because we can all do better for each other. I don’t think any of us got annoyed or upset at receiving negative opinions about our drag, we got upset because we were receiving personally directed hate about who we were and the work we put into the competition. As drag artists, I think we were all very used to getting critiqued in one way or another, but were not as used to getting bombarded with negativity like some of us did throughout the season. And, as much as the fans have the right and the space to opine, we have the right to set the boundaries we feel are correct for ourselves here. So yeah, not like we were all snowflakes who couldn’t take it - more that we were respectful of ourselves and our boundaries a regards to getting hated on online by an audience who we were giving our best for with limited time and resources.

not to bash on rosa but i think calli brought up an excellent point with the "afab" thing, afab is generally considered an outdated and confusing term when referring to certain drag performers, bc for example what rosa said in "afab performers have a harder time than amab performers" she's categorizing cis women and trans men together (already icky) and saying they have a harder time than cis men (for sure) but also trans women (obviously not), "afab" means assigned female at birth and its a term that most trans men do not like to be referred to as (as calli highlighted) and its also a term that makes no sense to use for cis women? why would we refer to a cis woman as "assigned female at birth"? like they're still female identifying are they not? so why "at birth", it just seems a confusing term all round, and literally every trans performer i have seen speak on the term doesn't like it being used in reference to a demographic of drag, just say "cis men have it easier" thats more accurate than trying to use fancy woke sounding lingo, it ends up hurting more people than it helps, like how Denim on CDR pointed out that she gets referred to as an "afab queen" and so people just assume they mean a queen who presents as female outside of drag, the term being used in this way causes really harmful confusion that negatively impacts trans performers so can we stop pls especially on a show as diverse as this one, it caught me a little off guard as it was being used quite a bit this season
Hey hey, Rosa here! So I’ve actually gone back and forth on this one, and thanks for the perspective since I really do think it’s an important conversation to have in the community. Listen, I work with a lot of trans performers and happen to be the partner of a trans man, and as such the language I use with regards to the trans community does come from an informed and somewhat personal place. This is the term I’ve been asked to use by many of these performers, and as such is a term I’ve adopted not just for “wokeness”. That said, I realize perhaps it’s a term that’s becoming outdated, so perhaps it’s something that needs to be clarified further. I just want people to know that it’s still something that is used by actual performers currently in the scene (and yes, I come from Denim’s scene so even there it’s a term that trans performers themselves still use). It also, to a certain extent, points to the structural misogyny built into a lot of gay spaces. I’ll continue educating myself on this one for sure!

I just don’t really know how else anyone would expect the Hydra stuff to go, when it kind of seems like people picked sides while not wanting to admit that they did. Hydra’s responses are always that the cast’s issues didn’t happen, and the cast says Hydra’s issues with them also didn’t happen… so what do people expect? The only reason Hydra’s comrades in the cast don’t fully defend her is when it comes to the seriousness of the Blackface thing… if that wasn’t there, they wouldn’t be straddling the fence. So just kind of seems like there’s not going to be any headway, when it’s like everybody involved in the actual fights, can’t even agree on what really happened. Like how do you make up or play nice with someone who doesn’t even acknowledge or perceive what you think they did wrong to you? They’re like in different realities lol Also the divide in who has issues with Hydra vs those who don’t kind of makes everything feel off to begin with. It seems like there’s certain kinds of performers Hydra peeved off… and yet that pattern isn’t being addressed. Microaggressions are real. Someone doesn’t have to punch you or tell you to eat shit and die, to inflict some kind of harm or cause tension. Kind of feels like people are being intentionally obtuse about that, especially since the only people who know what actually happened are the contestants themselves.
I love this show looking to be on season 3🤞 but on another note: It leaves a sour taste in my mouth that we focused so much of the conversation on how hydra felt and not what she did/said. She was rude/mean most of the season and then got to hide behind why is everyone so mean to me🥺 girl everyone in the cast was giving you back what you were giving. And no wanted to talk about. It kinda soured the season and left the theme being “be mean and you will be rewarded and protected” Again this isn’t hate or anything it was just my observations.

Not gonna lie the way people were kinda downplaying Orbit and Tyler’s feelings towards Hydra just cause their reasons aren’t as understandable as Trisha’s kinda annoyed me. It wasn’t a one sided thing as well, Hydra made multiple shady comments towards them and their drag and vice versa.

ideas for improving next season IMO (donate if you can to the indiegogo!)
1. guest judges, maybe not every week but drag race creators, drag artists, etc would be really cool to see (plus could add more exposure to drag duel)
2. give us a zoom call with all the queens, preferably one before preparations in the mini challenge episode, and after the main challenge videos are played so the winners and bottom placements can be announced
(also maybe monthly group calls with the cast privately?)
3. tighten up the editing on the confessionals. it’s great being able to hear the drag artists stories, and hearing what they have to say about other competitors. however not seeing them interact, and instead hearing different contests explain drama and interactions is a little jarring. also jumping between different perspectives for narrative sake can be kinda hard to follow as a viewer
4. shorten up the episodes, not every episode needs to be an hour plus (especially non elimination episodes)
Overall so happy with this first season of drag duel and can’t wait to see what comes in the future! Thank you to the amazing cast for showing off some amazing drag, personalities, and overall artistry! ❤

From the outside looking in- while it’s incredibly important to support each other in this world, you maybe shouldn’t enter a drag competition if you can’t tolerate somebody reading your looks…. I think everyone hating on Hydra was extremely uncomfortable to watch and just made Hydra more sympathetic.
The entire cast is extremely talented. Titanic Donovan and Susan? are my personal favorites!! Congratulations and much success to you all!

Thanks to you all for having some very real conversations about discrimination and hate. Reminder: gender identity is not "clockable". I did a lot of work in my master's program on trans and non-binary access (or lack thereof) to health and significant percentages of trans and non-binary peoples do not wish to change their external appearance. Many do. But many don't. And some wish to have some changes but not others. And guess what? They're all trans and non-binary regardless. It's wild how many people who preach that they're progressive and not discriminatory don't even realize they're very comfortable upholding binary structures and systems. And then they often get defensive af (do the kiddos still say af?) when this is pointed out to them.
Thank you to Derek, Bucy, and all the contestants for putting on a great season of reality (RUclips) TV! Even through the negative moments, this was an incredibly entertaining show and reunion. I hope everyone involved feels enriched by the experience... I know some people felt some type of way throughout the season & probably here as well, but I hope you all can look at it fondly once some time has passed and life moves on.
One thing that's been so special is feeling like I genuinely love everyone's art and every person has left a positive impact on me as a viewer. Even when I disagree with someone's take or side in an argument, I think DD has done a good job of showing the humans behind the drag. You're all so cool and inspiring & have reignited my love for drag that was honestly kinda lost after the last few seasons of Drag Race. So thank you again and I hope you're all having a good 2024

I think the drama should have been talked about more from specifically Hydra, Tyler, and Orbit. I hardly got anyone else’s perspective who wasn’t really involved other than Trisha. And while I think the cast did bring up good points, I still think there is a lot of bias since they were a PART of the cast (which is not the same as a random audience member or someone actually involved in the drama). And honestly, the stuff that Tyler and Hydra did say was a lot more insightful into the situation since their perspectives helped shaped why they acted the way they did in the first place (from my perspective at least).
This was an amazing trip, I'm so glad to have been here. It was quite a ride from day 1, and I for one am remaining subscribed on Patreon and will definitely support you on Indiegogo. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next.

I think after appearance of Plane Jane on Drag race, Drag duel watchers would be able to understand Hydra better.
It's hard to avoid this kind of a mess when the contestants are able to communicate with each other "outside" the competition, "when cameras are not rolling". I know it's hard to control them when it's an online competition but I don't think that discord was a good idea. Because, as I completely understand it, everything that happened there shouldn't be relevant and we - viewers - shouldn't care because we don't know the whole story. We can just believe this or this queen/king. That's why the queens in Drag Race live separately during the competition. There's no place for drama that viewers can't understand because all that happens - happens on cameras. I feel sorry for everyone who got hate, nobody deserved it. All these contestants are amazing. Yet, I agree that watching them hating Hydra for whatever reason was hard to swallow and I didn't like it. And as I can see here, at reunion, some of them still don't understand what they were doing. Anyway, once again congratz to Hydra for winning Drag Duel S01, you absolutely smashed it and deserved it! Congratz to Susan for winning the Miss Congeniality! And of course, last but certainly not least, congratz to Bobby for finding his true self! All the best for all of you ♥

To address the Hydra hate situation: I have never heard Hydra attack someone’s on the personal level. While she was constantly attacked ad hominem. And THAT is the biggest issue.

i personally think Sheneedza articulated the situation with Hydra perfectly. In the end i was happy Hydra won but I even commented one week I couldn’t root for Hydra bc of how she’s going about playing the game, and there is still some truth to that. once Hydra chilled and was more apologetic and vulnerable my opinion changed. but allll throughout the season Hydra leaned into the villain/ bitchy personality character and as a viewer that coupled with the negative reactions from the cast you start to think okay this isn’t an act she’s just like that. it was disappointing seeing so many other cast mates who were feeling negatively about things Hydra was saying. and i think some accountability for Hydra’s actions need to be taken into account bc where there’s smoke there’s fire, these opinions weren’t drawn from no where. and instead of doubling down i think that was the opportunity to check how she was coming across to others and to the fans. again in happy Hydra won and this is NO hate towards her this is just how it felt as a fan watching the show.
edit: and so i don’t think painting Hydra as a victim is fair in the slightest. why do people like Trisha or Tyler need to play nice when it sounds like Hydra wasn’t all season. i personally think it’s extremely dismissive of the queens who were hurt by Hydra to run to her rescue when you guys weren’t the ones the situation was happening to. i don’t think it’s fair that Hydra is able to make others feel some type of way and never face any consequences. yeah it sucked seeing Hydra alone in the end but respectfully if she didn’t move the way she did it wouldn’t have played out that way. like Hydra still won for fucks sake, why are you coming for the queens who felt wronged by Hydra and not the person who handled things poorly. imo you can’t play a villain then get upset bc you’re treated as one in the end…respectfully SORRY

i just wanna say bc i am somebody who is opinionated and who likes to have conversation about the media i consume, i don’t think it’s always fair to label things as “hate” bc people don’t like your drag. if you are competing for a spot in the limelight, why does it feel like these performers are so shocked to get a negative comment? idk i’m not a drag artist but i am an artist and performer and i have gotten hate messages and hikey they just don’t usually make sense or they’re easily ignorable. not trying to say they can’t be harmful (and also not talking about the phobic comments) but it just feels a but immature to call ppl problematic for not liking your personality or drag….? if somebody says “your music is trash” on my posts i just respond “ya mama” and keep it pushing like…

Rosa here! At the end of the day it’s just because we can all do better for each other. I don’t think any of us got annoyed or upset at receiving negative opinions about our drag, we got upset because we were receiving personally directed hate about who we were and the work we put into the competition. As drag artists, I think we were all very used to getting critiqued in one way or another, but were not as used to getting bombarded with negativity like some of us did throughout the season. And, as much as the fans have the right and the space to opine, we have the right to set the boundaries we feel are correct for ourselves here. So yeah, not like we were all snowflakes who couldn’t take it - more that we were respectful of ourselves and our boundaries a regards to getting hated on online by an audience who we were giving our best for with limited time and resources.

not to bash on rosa but i think calli brought up an excellent point with the "afab" thing, afab is generally considered an outdated and confusing term when referring to certain drag performers, bc for example what rosa said in "afab performers have a harder time than amab performers" she's categorizing cis women and trans men together (already icky) and saying they have a harder time than cis men (for sure) but also trans women (obviously not), "afab" means assigned female at birth and its a term that most trans men do not like to be referred to as (as calli highlighted) and its also a term that makes no sense to use for cis women? why would we refer to a cis woman as "assigned female at birth"? like they're still female identifying are they not? so why "at birth", it just seems a confusing term all round, and literally every trans performer i have seen speak on the term doesn't like it being used in reference to a demographic of drag, just say "cis men have it easier" thats more accurate than trying to use fancy woke sounding lingo, it ends up hurting more people than it helps, like how Denim on CDR pointed out that she gets referred to as an "afab queen" and so people just assume they mean a queen who presents as female outside of drag, the term being used in this way causes really harmful confusion that negatively impacts trans performers so can we stop pls especially on a show as diverse as this one, it caught me a little off guard as it was being used quite a bit this season
Hey hey, Rosa here! So I’ve actually gone back and forth on this one, and thanks for the perspective since I really do think it’s an important conversation to have in the community. Listen, I work with a lot of trans performers and happen to be the partner of a trans man, and as such the language I use with regards to the trans community does come from an informed and somewhat personal place. This is the term I’ve been asked to use by many of these performers, and as such is a term I’ve adopted not just for “wokeness”. That said, I realize perhaps it’s a term that’s becoming outdated, so perhaps it’s something that needs to be clarified further. I just want people to know that it’s still something that is used by actual performers currently in the scene (and yes, I come from Denim’s scene so even there it’s a term that trans performers themselves still use). It also, to a certain extent, points to the structural misogyny built into a lot of gay spaces. I’ll continue educating myself on this one for sure!

I just don’t really know how else anyone would expect the Hydra stuff to go, when it kind of seems like people picked sides while not wanting to admit that they did. Hydra’s responses are always that the cast’s issues didn’t happen, and the cast says Hydra’s issues with them also didn’t happen… so what do people expect? The only reason Hydra’s comrades in the cast don’t fully defend her is when it comes to the seriousness of the Blackface thing… if that wasn’t there, they wouldn’t be straddling the fence.
So just kind of seems like there’s not going to be any headway, when it’s like everybody involved in the actual fights, can’t even agree on what really happened.
Like how do you make up or play nice with someone who doesn’t even acknowledge or perceive what you think they did wrong to you? They’re like in different realities lol
Also the divide in who has issues with Hydra vs those who don’t kind of makes everything feel off to begin with. It seems like there’s certain kinds of performers Hydra peeved off… and yet that pattern isn’t being addressed.
Microaggressions are real. Someone doesn’t have to punch you or tell you to eat shit and die, to inflict some kind of harm or cause tension. Kind of feels like people are being intentionally obtuse about that, especially since the only people who know what actually happened are the contestants themselves.
I love this show looking to be on season 3🤞
but on another note:
It leaves a sour taste in my mouth that we focused so much of the conversation on how hydra felt and not what she did/said. She was rude/mean most of the season and then got to hide behind why is everyone so mean to me🥺 girl everyone in the cast was giving you back what you were giving. And no wanted to talk about. It kinda soured the season and left the theme being “be mean and you will be rewarded and protected”
