I worked as a contractor for golden boy Foods where they make peanut butter and let me tell you the first week you’ll love the smell of it but after then it’s make you almost sick to your stomach to even go back in there
I work as a manager at Duck Donuts and just for clarification I am a skinny dude. People come in all the time and ask “how’re you so skinny working at a donut shop?” I always tell them ‘don’t get high on your own supply,’ and I always get a good laugh.
FYI: at Krispy Kreme, they allow their employees to eat all the doughnuts they want. (Because they know, it won’t take long before you won’t want to eat them ever again). 😂

They stopped doing it after about a month and a half even though we weren’t allowed to use the tickets we won, because we were told to give them to kids that were already there. As you can imagine, a bunch of teenagers playing games every lunch break started to rack up the tickets, and since we can’t really reuse tickets in the machines, they didn’t like how much they were spending on employees when they had to restock tickets 😅 Silver lining though, I got top score on the Terminator shooting game using both guns at the same time. That was fun 😂

I'm going to tell you a little secret. As someone who works in a donut factory that mass produces donuts, there is no quality, just quantity. This one mass produces them. The quantity is there, but the quality? We can only hope. You want guaranteed quality, go to an independent donut shop
Trust me, you might think you’d be snacking on them all day but in reality, it’s the last thing you’d want after working with them all the time. I worked in my local grocery stores bakery as the donut fryer for a while and lemme tell you, you get sick of donuts real quick. When standing at the fryer, the oil literally seeps into your pores so you legit sweat donut smell. It also just imbeds in your hair and clothes and no amount of washing either seems to fully get rid of it; you kinda have to just wait for that smell to naturally dissipate. It was also several _years_ before I actually ate donuts again. And I was someone who would buy multiple donuts every time I went grocery shopping and I’d often end up eating them all within a day. So working as a donut fryer made me go from someone who could easily eat multiple donuts in one sitting to someone who couldn’t stand the thought of donuts for several years. Food related jobs that involve your favorites often _sound_ like a dream come true. But then you actually start working there and it’s completely ruined within a week tops. Although it might be a great way to remove certain food from your diet, if that’s your goal. 🤔
Yep, working with donuts and pizza did exactly that to me. 25 years later and I still can't eat much of either one but at the time I thought that I was lucky to get to work with my favorite foods. 🤢
I visited a chocolate factory making Easter eggs and many different chocolate bars. The guide said the staff were allowed to eat as much or as many of the products as they wanted. The new hires quickly got over the novelty and the production line was safe again.
I have a similar experience. I primarily work the garde mamger station at a French bistro in a small town in Northeast America. We sell a reeeeally nice waldorf salad, and I normally make about 5-15 of them on a good night. It would be normal for coworkers to come up to me during the shift wondering if they could have a waldorf. This would happen every other night, if not every night. I looooved making myself waldorfs for about the first week. After that, it just became overrated for me. I think the last time I had one was about a week ago.
So glad I don’t live anywhere close to Carl’s Donuts. However, I now have them at the top of my list for when I next drive to Vegas on my way to Santa Barbara. First pick? The delicious looking ham & cheese croissant!

I'd get my auntie a Bearclaw and just some random and take them to the local bar. Still to this day I'm not a big fan of donuts and I'll only eat two specific kinds. I do have to say that working in a donut shop is essentially the best free perfume you'll ever get. Can't tell you how many people would approach me "you smell so good girl "
If you buy donuts from their store you should get some good ones. When they ship them out to other stores they don't cool them down enough so that when they put the sugar coating on it melts. Yuk!! I won't buy donuts unless it is from the source and I can pick out my own.
As someone who was a baker before i can say the one thing i miss is the huge amounts of dough Its so soft And cutting trough it with a sharp knife is so satasfying

I don't work at a big bakery like this but I have those exact hoppers for fillings at the store I work at and they're not sharp! Trust me I've accidentally missed with a donut or had one angled slightly wrong so the spout has come out the wrong spot of the donut and stuck my hand before. It doesn't break skin.

They're making a huge batch of dough them dumping it in a funnel/slicer. No way to guarantee same amounts of blueberries unless you do one muffin at a time

Anyone with a functioning brain(like you and I) can clearly see the machine spits out an equal amount of dough with a random amount of berries. There's no possible way that technique would produce an equal amount in each muffin. Promise you won’t be stealing any samples if you work there. I worked at daylight donuts for three months last year and the smell eventually made me sick every time I tried to eat it. Just a different experience when your making them everyday compared to walking in a store and buying some. (Some will understand some won’t )

im a baker in austria currently it's fashing season a sort of carnival thing where traditionally apricot filled doughnuts are made with powdered sugar on them but our bakery also makes different ones with different fillings. the ones with fondant ontop: vanilla, coffee ,pistachio with chocolate covering nougat, banana strawberry and ones we cut horizontally put a creme ring white, milk chocolate and vanilla and put whole fruit jams in the middle as well as one braided like a one string braid (like a flesserl) also cut horizontally with vanilla in the middle. honestly i can't wait till that season is over cuz were not that big. one fryer fries about 40 doughnuts in about 3-4 minutes but we don't have the assembly lines like big companies so we dunk decorate and fill each doughnut manually tho we do have the filling machine where you can stick two donuts on spikes to fill em like later in the video. worst (best for the cash register :P) day is called fashingsdienstag. that's the mainday of celebration and on my first day as a baker on that day me a colleague my boss and his wife were making and selling a total over over 10 000 doughnuts.. i started that day at 2am left at 2 30 pm. if you want legit good baked goods get em either from local small austrian or French shops. the things in the video they called a croissant were small as heck

If you can go to a Maple Hurst Bakery you'll see a building that produces about 100,000 donuts an hour and supplies most of the United States' locations with donuts. Walmart and others alike. The one my family member works at is in Tennessee
