Unrelated but it's amazing how much bigger Saigon feels than Bangkok.
They have similar populations but Saigon felt like a giant human ocean to me.
I love big cities, but Saigon was one of the few places that overwhelmed me a little.

Interesting that you felt that way! I spend a lot of time in both Saigon and Bangkok, and to me, Bangkok feels much bigger. Maybe because most of what I do in Saigon is centered around D1, D2, D3, D4, and Binh Thanh, I rarely go out to other parts. In Bangkok too, I mostly stick to the same parts (Asok, Phrom Phong), but even just when I occasionally take a ride across town to ICON Siam, Chinatown, or Khaosan, it's like wow Bangkok is big. The traffic is also a lot more congested with cars in Bangkok, so it's slower getting around, takes longer to get across the city. Plus, the skyline of Bangkok is way bigger and more expansive. Bangkok has 181 skyscrapers that are over 150 meters tall, while Saigon only has 35!

Hanoi is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there; Saigon is a nice place to live in, but I wouldn't want to visit there😁

My friends talk bad about Chris ... They're up in Hanoi ...
But this is why I've learned to never show my face or give out personal information.

Viet girls always tell me that Hanoi/northern culture is more conservative and traditional, while Saigon is more open-minded, progressive, and modern. One other thing I noticed: When I was dating in Hanoi, the taxi drivers spoke to the girls multiple times like "Wow you're dating a foreigner, that's interesting, cool for you," but in Saigon, no taxi driver ever makes any comment about it, it's much more normal and expected there.

I think you will be surprised with how fast DN is changing. New parks, walking streets, new modern shops everywhere. New condos getting built up quickly and a new AEON mall is in the works to open up next year 2025. 👍

Surprisingly, Hue and Danang are also in the South, people in Danang speak with Southern accent.

Saigon is busier and more fun what it comes to night life. Hanoi is prettier and Vietnamese culture is more visible. Ha Long is a must visit when in Hanoi. Nha Trang I don’t like at all, but Da Nang and Hoi An are great. Phan Thiet is cute if you want more quiet living close to Saigon. Vung Tau is good for a couple of days, but I loved Can Tho. Will go back there soon!

I like Hanoi and Saigon both. There is more action in Saigon. Lot more coffee in Hainoi. Also spent time in Da Nang. All were good.
