Flipping the entire thing upside down to reassemble: genius! I had heard somewhere that there used to be a thin, plastic template - basically looked like a big gasket - that you'd lay over the top of the grids and it would hold them in alignment for easy reassembly.
The piece you are talking about is sometimes called the spacer or a template, but it is made of such thin plastic that it gets broken/discarded in only a few seasons. Example of the template - www.inyopools.com/Products/07501352027001.htm
Install upside down helped tremdously. I knew there was a better way. Dunno if you mentioned to align the bottom side properly to allow space for plumbing but mine required it. Thanks for the vid.
You make it look so easy, we had the worst time putting our grids back in place. It took us hours to clean and put everything back, this video makes me want to try again
Thanks very much for this video My new de filter only lasted 2 seasons and tons of tears on the filter . Hopefully solved my de back to pool and a odd sandy looking blobs in pool Thanks again
Any recommendations on draining the DE filter from the cap without having it make such a mess with the DE powder left around it as it dries? Like would you recommend some sort of hose, etc. on the cap as it's opened to drain or would a backwash prior to draining be enough so that only water is coming out the cap rather than full of DE?
It's placed on the grids. The only thing not verbally mentioned, but the tech is shown doing is making sure the grids are sitting between the "fins" on the bottom manifold. This makes sure the grids have uniform spacing.
Some very good tips BUT - get a proper socket wrench instead of using channel locks to mangle the band bolt - is it OK to dump DE directly into the skimmer? I always mix it into water first - how often do you replace those rubber rings? very rarely, I hope
If the DE is coming out of the return jets, the next most common issues would be a cracked manifold or a bad standpipe o-ring. The standpipe o-ring would be located where you slip the manifold onto the pipe inside the filter. If DE is backing up through your main drain or skimmer, you probably have a suction side or pressure side leak in the plumbing.
A green tint is ok but you can soak the grids to get rid of that tint. Some people will soak them in a mixture of 1 part muriatic acid to 20 parts water.
I just wanted to know how to replace one torn grid. I can’t get the manifold back on and three different pool guys never showed. Don’t ever buy a house with a pool! Your better off to have your friend kick you in the nuts every day for life.
Best video I have ever seen on how to replace the DE CARTRIDGE with some extra tips as well. Thx You

I assembled my grids before and i remember it being a sweaty, frustrating event. This video helped me get it done in less than 10 min. Thank you!
Thank you for the feedback! We're glad it helped.
simplest explanation on what had been a very difficult task. thank God for RUclips...
Awesome! We're glad it helped.

This is the best video I have seen yet on how to replace these grids! I just put mine back together in less than 5 minutes!! TYTY!
That's great to hear! We're glad it helped.
God bless you. Every other video made it so confusing and you just hit it on the head so easy thank you so much

Thank you for the feedback. We understand that if its not something you do every day, it can be frustrating.
Thanks very much for this video

These videos are perfect, specially for me as a beginner.

Guess what I’m doing today? Haha… Great video. It had everything I needed to know. Thank you. 👍🏻😎
You got this!
Very detailed video. Thanks. Will save me a ton of money from not having to call a professional to do it.
Thank you so much. You saved me a lot of money thank you. Please keep doing these videos. You are so good
Thank you for the feedback, Carol!
Great video and thank you for the tip of putting manifold upside down
Had a few holes in the filter screens. Rather then replace the whole screen I used clear Flex Seal. Amazing! The holes were 1". $12 vs ?.
I will try this, see AuntCass above, cause I have 1987 Jacuzzi Splash filter on Hayward motor.
How did you get the bottom manifold (which is now the top manifold) on? Wish you were in full detail when you did this video

This video was very helpful to me, everything was explain very simple, being a woman I was able to.
Glad it helped. Please let us know if you have any topics you would like us to cover in upcoming videos.
I have had issues disconnecting the manifold off the pipe that brings in the water over the filter elements.
What can I do??
I replaced the entire grid assembly with a new one but still getting de in pool, where should I look next.? Appreciate any help.

@@Inyopools. Then how did you get the DE out of the floor of pool?
What manual to determine how much DE too add? About 15000 gallon pool..
What size filter is that?
It was either a 35 or 48 square foot DE filter, most likely.
Good Video ! Don't like the use of pump pliers on the band nut.
great job!! It helped me a great deal.
Thank you for the feedback, Ken. We're glad it helped.
in my manual it says to tighten the clamp with a torque wrench to 150 inch-lbs
Great help thx
I have a DE filter and I’m getting sand in the bottom of the pool. What could be the problem?
Tears in the grids. You’ll need to replace the damaged ones.
When adding D.E. to skimmer, I would adjust my the flow valve to enhance water intake from the skimmer.
perfect.. Thank you
You're welcome!
After removing our DE Filter Grids, we noticed they are tinted green... is this okay?
A green tint is ok but you can soak the grids to get rid of that tint. Some people will soak them in a mixture of 1 part muriatic acid to 20 parts water.
additional note....USE GLOVES AND LONG SLEEVE SHIRT....the fiberglass from the container will put a hurtin on you!
Great tip!
Mexican socket set...
Jajajajajajajaja

I second that!
@@PickleWeasel91 I third that and my Son in Law Father would FOURTH that. NEVER EVER GET A POOL.
