  • Rock and Roll singer and historian Marcel Riesco takes you on his rock and roll trip.
This episode does not need much introduction. The RCA Studio B in Nashville, originally known as Little Victor, is one of the most popular recording studios in the world. Home of more than 1,000 hits, the "new" RCA Victor Studio was built in 1957 and basically flat out replaced the old room on McGavock St. Since then, it produced hit after hit for the label and for other labels as well, as the studio was essentially a custom studio. From the Everly Brothers's "All I Have to Do Is Dream" (perhaps the first Number One Pop hit recorded there?), to Roy Orbison's masterpieces "Only the Lonely," "Crying," "In Dreams" and most of this Monument hits. Elvis always preferred Little Victor to any other studio, and hits like "Are You Lonesome Tonight?," "It's Now or Never," "I Need Your Love Tonight," "Little Sister" were done there (most of Elvis's recording career happened at Little Victor). Country stars also recorded here, Don Gibson for example...and later on Dolly Parton. Pretty much everyone who was someone cut sides at 1611 Hawkins, in what is now widely known at RCA Studio B, from rock and roll to pop, to country, and everything in between.

I was born in 1951, so I remember a lot of the early music, of Elvis. I have to admit, Elvis was the King, he had a present of what the song and how to sing songs, even in the early years. I believe he wouldn't have had to be rushed out of a building, or hid away from his fans, if Curnell Parker hadn't been his manager and took advantage of Elvis. By the way I like that you are keeping the music alive. Just Saying
