Ulrich is such a great character. Even though he was a punk teenager and cheated on his wife, he still loved his children and was so dedicated to finding Mikkel and saving the other 2 kids that he sacrificed the rest of his entire life. Just for this moment. God I love this show

I felt bad for katherina so much. She didnt do anything wrong. Got beaten as a kid, got cheated, her child taken away from her, and got killed by her own mother. Man...that was the real tragedy
Ulrich’s story is definitely tragic. Despite all his flaws, his actions didn’t justify what he went through. Wrongly arrested as a teen and adult. Suffered a horrible fate for being a desperate parent

Poor Ulrich, it's so sad. The acting in this show is incredible. All the versions of the characters across the time periods have the same mannerisms but are all a little different due to the affect that the events have had on them. This is one of the greatest TV shows ever made, the acting and writing is ridiculously good, but Only 8.7 on IMDB? Probably cos there are no dragons and 15 minute battles.
This scene breaks my heart every time. Amazing acting on the part of Daan Liebrenz; you really believe his suspension of disbelief at 1:18. At least Ulrich finds out, after 34 long years of being locked up, beaten, and treated like a madman in the past, that his son is/was alive.

I just wanted Mikkel to go back with his family. I have not overcome when Ulrich is arrested right before entering the cave.
He was arrested 'cause he failed to understand that space-time doesn't allow alteration, only a powerful enough atomic reaction can break this physical law.

Beautiful moment of this episode, after so many traumatized years he finally finds his son, wish he and mikkel made it back to 2019 and after many confusion between the younger Ulrich and the old one he somehow finds peach for the fact he brought his son home... and can be a part of the “2019 family” somehow

I haven't even finished this show yet and I normally avoid spoilers, but I had to search for and watch this scene anyway because it has just been KILLING me that Ulrich never left 1954 and no one has found Mikkel yet! So relieved to know this happens.
There was dozens of intense scenes like this for this series and each and everyone made me cry uncontrollably. Everything was connected and damn did Ulrich mess up but damn did he pay the price.
Such a beautiful moment. A father's drive and will to do anything for his son. Atleast now he knows that his son is alive and safe. But the events after are sad.
I cried every time I see this scene … this was time travel drama where everyone is involved in a repeating circle of suffering… and in this scene there’s a very touching part of this tragedy.
I never understood why Mikkel didn't look for Ulrich when he became an adult a few years later. I assume Ulrich didn't survive long after this event, but that's not revealed in the series.
Oh the parallels between this and future Jonas telling Michael/Mikkel that *he knew*. Both were so gentle, Ulrich reminds him using that magic trick thingy and Jonas says "Ultimate Fist bump". Like they gently give him a nudge not outright stating that they know who he is and all.
I just rewatched this scene for the 10th time and noticed I accidentally disliked it in a previous viewing -- I was so upset at myself. What an INCREDIBLE scene!
What I think is the saddest about this scene is that Ulrich already found out everything... he new all Mikkel's life because he saw him growing in his past as Michael, he also knew that Jonas is his grandson bu he is stuck in his memories that are gonna happen in the future... on the other hand, Michael will find out that he actually saw his father, he found him... but it was to late for both.
