I am so glad to see this I hope it gets pinned! My grandpa had a hand tremor that started in his 90's. We used this tool to help him scoop up peas, corn and lots of things. It gave him a surface to scrape against and was very helpful! I had a wrist break, and a horrible cast and totally forgot about these. I bet they would have been very helpful when I was eating with my non dominant hand.

The label maker is a disposable just because of the app. You are right, it will become a paperweight. I have had air conditioning apps stop working, thank God for standard remotes.
Label rolls are always expensive for these printers, that is how the manufacturer makes money. I have a BROTHER-branded one and it is excellent. No apps, just old school buttons.
There is a real use-case for the food separators and it is not so niche as one would imagine. Think detective Monk. Many people on the autism spectrum do have a tendency to prefer that different foods do not touch.

While you could 3d print those food dividers, it would not be considered food safe, even if you used a material that was inherently safe, because it would be practically impossible to ensure there weren't any contaminants in the nozzle with any of the consumer-grade 3d printers. Not only that, the additive nature of 3d printing would mean the parts would also probably be somewhat porous, which would be a breeding ground for bacteria.
In short, please don't 3d print these things on your Prusa or Bambu Lab.

Those plate dividers seem so silly to me. If I/someone I know was that obsessive about food touching, I'd rather buy a set of divided plates for that same amount of money than that...divides better, cleans as one unit, fully divides things if you buy the right plates.

As for the food separator...I'm the weirdo who likes to mush everything together at Thanksgiving. 😂😂😂 I also mash my over-easy eggs into my hashbrowns & sometimes add ketchup, mustard, salt & pepper. We're all different creatures.

4:00 I feel like instead of it actually being a gag gift it was more a gift they thought would be perceived as silly so they themselves labeled it a gag gift to avoid someone else calling the gift out. No one would get a gag gift of this quality… it’d be something completely useless like that phone projector that sucked or something like that.

There are adults out there that don’t like their food to mix(like me). I just bought divided plates that are microwave and dishwasher safe. I got twenty 3 compartment with lids for about $25. I can cook large meals, dish them up in these, freeze and heat later in microwave and wash them in the dishwasher. Better value for your money.

I know a couple of people who really really despise when their foods touch on the plate. One will not eat the food if they touch. To each their own. The evil of those divided kid dishes and school.lunches.

That Bluetooth Label Maker reminds me of the Brother label printer I used to use a work. It had an interesting printing technique using a a double layer tape. It printed on the back layer and then welded a tape over that which made it extremely durable. We used these to print serial numbers for machines, label cables and so on. After creating templates you just started the print and design program, loaded the label and told it how many to print. Serial numbers were updated automatically and you could include barcodes to make them easy to scan. When building servers it was important to label all the cables to the drives. A server could have 24 or more drives, so marking them made it easier to make sure the right cable were routed to the right drive cage and matched the status leds that were routed from the RAID controllers used. Get it wrong and you would risk pulling the wrong drive when replacing a failing drive.
This printer doesn't seem to be quite as advanced but still seems decent enough for similar work. Does the printing utility support counting up numbers depending on how many labels you print? If so it can be of even more use.

They've gone up in price interestingly, according to the price history they used to be 7 bucks. They then slowly went up and down between different prices going all the way up to 20 dollars, presumably settling on 15 dollars then staying constant after that because they found it was the maximum price they could actually get people to buy the product at.

This label maker seems alright, but I still like the aesthetic of the old school label maker I have. I need to turn the dial to the letter I want and squeeze the handle to type it on the label, rinse and repeat, but I just really like the labels it makes where the letters actually stick up from the label surface.
