The label maker is a disposable just because of the app. You are right, it will become a paperweight. I have had air conditioning apps stop working, thank God for standard remotes. They might also help people with certain disabilities like Parkinson's Disease, Essential Tremor, or people who have had a stroke. While you could 3d print those food dividers, it would not be considered food safe, even if you used a material that was inherently safe, because it would be practically impossible to ensure there weren't any contaminants in the nozzle with any of the consumer-grade 3d printers. That Bluetooth Label Maker reminds me of the Brother label printer I used to use a work. It had an interesting printing technique using a a double layer tape. It printed on the back layer and then welded a tape over that which made it extremely durable. We used these to print serial numbers for machines, label cables and so on. After creating templates you just started the print and design program, loaded the label and told it how many to print. Serial numbers were updated automatically and you could include barcodes to make them easy to scan. When building servers it was important to label all the cables to the drives. A server could have 24 or more drives, so marking them made it easier to make sure the right cable were routed to the right drive cage and matched the status leds that were routed from the RAID controllers used. Get it wrong and you would risk pulling the wrong drive when replacing a failing drive. This printer doesn't seem to be quite as advanced but still seems decent enough for similar work. Does the printing utility support counting up numbers depending on how many labels you print? If so it can be of even more use.
