There is an intense hatred of BW and it goes back thousands of years. I've been reading up on Asherah, the hated tree goddess in the Bible and other cultures. Ancient statues and carvings of her are Black women. The god in the Bible hates her immensely and the prophets demanded that she not be worshipped. What's interesting is that the people themselves tell the prophet that their lives are better with her, no invaders and no poverty. But as we all know YHWH won in destroying her and the trees.

I just found out about who he was last year and when I tell people the reason I don’t celebrate kwanza, they look at me like I’m crazy or that I should just get over what he did to these black women. I found out about this fairly recently and think that don't put anything on a pedestal. If I wasn't bought up Christmas, I probably wouldn't mind Kwanza or not celebrating at all. Unless my son is home I plan on traveling on all the holidays. Hopefully I don't have any more children.

There used to be a dinner in Los Angeles CA. on the last night of Kwanzaa I mainly went to dress up, eat and watch the show. The year I went with a male friend, he knew this Ron Coranga. (he got up from where we were sitting and went up and talked to him for a few minutes then came back and told me the story). I was informed he was the US founder, a break-off from the Black Panthers. That's when I found out how dodgy he was. By the time this RUclips on him surfaced this just reinforced what I was already privy to. The man I was with that night back in the early 90s has since passed on. I don't do Kwanzaa as such any longer. Made-up holidays usually come to light as the mess it is in the long run.

Exactly, the Kwanzaa part is really immaterial at this point. Most people don’t know who the hell created it, all they know is it was an alternative from Christmas and other holidays at that time and that’s why they celebrate it and the positive message that goes with it. It has a little bit of different cultures mixed together and that’s kind of where it is. I don’t celebrate it. I’ve been around it before and if it makes people happy what the hell. Most people that celebrate it are not celebrating him and his organization is not what it used to be as it mostly disbanded years ago. He is still pretty powerful is his circle though. I’ve had the opportunity to be around him back in the 90s and maybe early 2000s for some amount of time while I was a student and thereafter and he is something, deep breath, I grew up on the south side of Chicago and I am a bit younger so the patience is different, but he is intelligent and that’s how he was able to still be standing. I can’t speak to whether not he’s a live wire-agent or not but he definitely is something.
