    I thought you recommended against using olive oil because of its low smoke point. Also if you use parchment as a liner doesn't it blow around when the fan comes on?

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  Год назад

      I do... This was made before I started experimenting with oils to lower the smoke. With the door shut that paper really doesn't move around at all... At first I thought I might have to put something on it, but not really!

    Our Frigidaire Gallery Induction range was delivered last week. Question: Could you put the asparagus in the air fry basket while the steak was resting? It would save on washing another pan.

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  Год назад

      Yes! Should be fine..... and the time to cook those would be right about the amount of time the steaks need to rest...which is awesome.

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  2 года назад +1

      Heya, Kevin. Maybe a thicker cut of steak? The one on this recipe ended up being about a medium, but it was relatively thin... Did you do it in an air fry oven like this one? I pre-heated the oven for a bit before I threw them in there, also.

    • @ZombyReagan
      @ZombyReagan 2 года назад +1

      @@JoesPhenomenal Yah I have the frigidaire gallery, and set the air fryer to 400 waited for it to beep that it was ready before I put it in.
      the steak was 0.67lb and its thickness was about the same length as from the tip of my thumb to the knuckle, so it wasnt a super thick or tall cut.
      I dunno ive have trouble with the oven the whole time, i had potatoes take way longer than expected to cook and were very dry. Even tried to bake a pizza and the cheese didnt really melt but kind of just ... hardened to be crispy.

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  2 года назад

      Hmm.. That sounds like it's not reaching the right temp. Is the fan coming on during air fry? Also do you have a thermometer you can put in there to see if it's getting to that temp? Also what's the elevation where you are? That can play a role too.

    • @ZombyReagan
      @ZombyReagan 2 года назад +1

      @@JoesPhenomenal I need to buy a thermometer to check to see if it is actually hitting the Temps. I am pretty sure the fan was on bc whenever I opened the door to check the meat I could hear it turning off. I live in Florida so my elevation is like 5ft lol

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  2 года назад

      @@ZombyReagan Ok... looks like maybe it's not getting hot enough. Out of curiosity, let me know when you get that thermometer if it's hitting the right temps.

      As far as the nonsticks go, the ninja stuff was surprisingly good.. So far anyway. A little on the thin aidez but they seem to heat pretty evenly... And whatever they did with the nonstick seems to be holding up nicely so far. I have the Kirkland stainless pans and like em, but they aren't in production anymore. There are a lot of decent options there though. I'd recommend something that's multilayered on that front where it includes copper, aluminum, and stainless plys. You cna probably find a pretty decent set for under 500. All Clad is pretty much the best, but those are crazy expensive too.

    When you air fry with the stove does it smoke up your home? I heard it does from other reviews and I saw a bunch of smoke coming out when you open the door.

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  2 года назад

      It can a little bit.. You can alieviate most of it by using a second pan below the fry tray lined with some foil to catch all the droplets. If you do that and just open it the one time to remove the finished stuff, it's not too bad at all. It you have a decent vent above the range, which I don't, it should be able to take care of whatever is left over. Definitely the air fry produces some smoke though.

      @@JoesPhenomenal I'm thinking of buying that exact range since it's $999 right now but the only cons that I could find is the buttons not responding sometimes and the air fryer smoking. Is the buttons not responding a deal breaker or it's not that bad?

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  2 года назад

      @@JR-em7do Seems like it's everything I air fry. Baking hasn't been an issue as far as I've seen. However, there's much less use of oil when I bake. It could also be that I predominately use olive oil for everything. Different oils smoke at different temperatures. I think it might do better with an oil that has a really high smoke temp. Refined avacado oil seems to be pretty high... linked a chard for you in wikipedia for reference. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Smoke_point_of_cooking_oils

    Question how messy does the air fryer make the oven?

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  Год назад +1

      It can get pretty messy. I only use the air fryer in the range when I have larger amounts of stuff to make, since you gotta clean it really well afterwards to avoid getting smoke in the future. I put a sheet pan on the shelf below the air fry try with some parchment paper on it to catch as much of the drippings as possible. For smaller jobs, I end up using the air fryer in my pressure cooker.
