Juiced Bikes CityScrambler Review - $1.8k

  • The CityScrambler is a powerful electric minibike designed for urban environments, cast-alloy wheels and slick tires provide great stability and rolling efficiency, compact design is eye-catching and comfortable but yields a subpar pedaling experience. Custom-designed 52-volt battery platform provides high capacity and long battery life, rear hub motor from Bafang provides great torque and satisfying performance, easily capable of Class 3 speeds but this will eat the battery fairly quickly. Shimano Revoshift paired with the Tourney derailleur is a basic setup with limited gearing range but it gets the job done, both front/rear lights are powerful but the taillight is independent and requires AAA batteries, great side visibility with reflective sidewall striping and wheel arms. Excellent stopping power from Tektro's hydraulic disc brakes, large banana seat is comfortable and pairs well with the high-rise swept-back handlebars, only available in one size but at a great price point of $1799 with free shipping in the contiguous United States. We purchased two Juiced Bikes for review and they gave us two for free to review. This is one that we purchased, based on strong demand from commenters here and in the EBR Forums :)

    Wow so far ur the only one reviewer that rides motorcycle as well. Like you, I've had 8 motorcycles (Triumph Daytona 675 and 900 Thruxton Cafe Racer, Vrod, Yamaha FFZ6 and Kawi 600, Ducati 700 Monster...and actually starter out with Ninja 250). I no longer ride as I had a near fatal accident that put a rod on my Tibia and ruptured my PCL. I still would love to ride a motor bike but made a promise to the wife. So I'm researching for e-bike that would allow me to exercise but also have a little feeling of riding a motorcycle, Thanks for the review.

    I just bought one earlier in the week. Tracking says I’ll get it Tuesday. I got the 19ah upgrade. The longest trip I’ll have to take is 10 miles. I plan on riding in race 90% of the time. But I def plan on riding around in 3 when I want to explore. I’m pretty excited. When I was a kid I used to own a little peddle bike in the same style. Love the look of these bikes

    I really like mine.
    Out of the box mostly for the fun factor most owners will swap the rear freewheels to a 11/28t and some will swap the stock 52t front for a 56t then speeds over 18-20+ you can easily sustain 28 mph and keep a reasonable cadence and as you can assist at full speed now of course the battery will thank you with more range options. I also suggest joining the juiced Facebook groups if you are like me and enjoy modding and working on your ride.

      @TysonRoehrkasse 4 года назад +1

      Interesting, good to know! I've ridden other bikes that had grip twist shifters on both sides (such as a 21 speed) so it seems strange to me that they wouldn't be able to get a proper left-side shifter.

    Thanks for talking about the power and the comfort, which I had been wondering about.
    It really looks like so much fun.
    With all of that power, I might prefer a one speed.
    Do you think it would be nice to have one speed and no chain slap?

    • @TysonRoehrkasse

      Honestly, I would love a one-speed setup, It would keep things a lot more simple. I found I mostly used the highest gear, and sometimes shifted down one or two... but mostly I just stayed in the high gear and used the throttle to get started every time.

It won’t hurt the brakes right or mess up the bike?

    Your crazy riding with the whizzz traffic maybe the camera makes it look bad. Drivers really don't respect bicycle riders or give room for Safety margin.

    • @TysonRoehrkasse
      @TysonRoehrkasse 4 года назад +1

      The camera angle may affect it, I use the wide angle when using the chest mount and that can kinda distort things. Drivers in Fort Collins actually respect bicyclists more than most places I have been... but they aren't perfect, paying attention and defensive riding is still crucial. I've lost count of how many times I would have been run over if I wasn't paying attention and took evasive action. I've gotten used to it, for most of my adult life I haven't owned a car and have ridden either a bicycle or a motorcycle.

    Those pedals look like they will hit the street if you pedal during a turn. Am i wrong?

      They will and I got pedal strikes a couple times while riding. It's really not bad, just not as much clearance as I'm used to from riding full size bicycles (electric or otherwise)

    a smaller wheeled bike is far better in the florida woods .the big fat tire bikes are dangerous. the small wheels make quick turns easier/safer. mostly sand/clay roads with mud puddles and tight turns.

    Complete trash bikes, got a Ripcurrent S in Jan, have barely ridden it due to countless defects. They refuse to take it back. This company is all slick marketing and terrible quality.

      Wait till the s73 app crashes or when the company starts regulating your bike with that app.Also is it fun to have to pull over and stop just to switch your mode of assist.
