    Excellent video and tutorial to repair this type of pumps, thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.
    Can you tell me the specification and type of oil with which the pump is filled.
    And the type of liquid to clean the parts.

    I have my technique where I dont need to remove the ball bearing seal. I top up the pump with oil through the oil seal. By the way, I dont use ATF cause it has friction enhancers. Rather I use 70w50 oil gear. Its hydraulic as well as lubricant

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the info, the seal tactic sounds a good idea 👍

      How do you manage to refil the oil through the seal? I'm keen as I don't really wanna drill and tap if I can avoid it.

    • @abubakarhassan6926
      @abubakarhassan6926 Год назад +2

      @Dan_Dare just remove the oil seal. Sometimes its damaged when removing so get ready to replace with new. Fill the oil slowly through the bearing opening. Evacuate the air by pushing the diaphragm. Repeat refilling and evacauting air untill you no longer see any air bubbles coming up. Then fill up with oil up to the top and refit the seal. Now, in replacing the seal you'd have a little resistance due to the filled up oil. Get a small flat head screw driver or something small enough to pry the inside of the oil seal. Fit the seal while you pry the inside to allow a little oil escape and make room for the seal to fit. I hope this clearly explain.

    Hi, thanks the video. Really helpfull. Our Vectra runs just like it used to. Would you mind giving me some advice on how to remove the rubber air bleed bowl from the underside of the pump housing please. I'm reluctant to start wrestling the cover off before i know whats coming. There's a drip coming from there and i hope just replacing the small rubber bowl that comes with the seal kit will solve the problem. Also, do you know what the other black 'O' rings is for? Thanks in advance. Andy, Swindon

      @@diydaly Hi again, thanks your reply. There is another vid showing the method of how to remove the air bleed bowl. Drill a 2/3mm hole through the side of the bowl outer housing to access the circlip which keeps the bowl in place. Once the cirlip is removed the bowl just lifts off. After cleaning and reassembly with new rubber air bleed you need to compress the bowl housing with a G clamp so the circlip fits back into its place and the bowl makes a tight seal against the new rubber. You then need to pick up on your vid showing how you get all the air out of the pump and refilling with ATF. I did this over last weekend and have yet to check for leaks but it should be ok. Thanks again.Andy

    Nice video.
    I gave up trying to drill out the ball bearing and instead ...
    (1) bench-drilled a new parallel 5mm hole close to it
    (2) cut a new thread by hand with a self-drilling roofing screw (the galvanised type with a hex-head that comes with a rubber O-ring)
    (3) cut the pointy end off the screw
    Question: Like you, i've got the black O-ring left over from the repair kit! Where is that supposed to go?

      @@diydalyhaha another O-ring added to my collection then ...
      My repair didn't last long ... slow leak of oil (i used power steering oil but same result using 75/85 gear oil) into the petrol inlet/outlet section.
      Am i right in assuming the thick disc that covers the diaphragms (the one that needs to be levered out) is supposed to separate the oil and petrol sections?
      That's the only place i can see the oil and petrol sections interact - no gasket around that disc - is it supposed to maintain a seal purely by being a tight fit? That seems like an ambitious design.
      Next attempt will use some gasket goo around the edge of the disc but i'm not optimistic. Any other suggestions?

    I repaired my hpfp and the membranes have been fine, but the oil seal (shaft seal?) keeps om getting pushed out after about 2 weeks. Have anyone had the same issue ? I used ATF as oil.

    • @snakehunter1342
      @snakehunter1342 4 месяца назад

      This normally happens when the Membranes become leaky. Fuel is then forced into the pump housing.
