  • Danny Fairbrass joins carp catching machine Luke Vallory, for an in-depth discussion on winter pop-up fishing, with a particular focus on spinner rigs.
    Luke is one of Korda Mindset's most consistent members, catching some of the country's most sought after carp, many falling to his simple spinner rig set up.
    Danny delves into the technical side of Luke's angling, finding out exactly how and why he sets his rigs up the way he does.
    A fascinating insight into one of the country's leading anglers, this is a technical masterclass that's not to be missed.

    I start to use pop-up in 2016 before by 15-16 years don’t use it … 😁 what I like especially is positioning/reset and presenting -> 99% sure that is fishing 💪 Use it with ronnie on fluorocarbon with big hook as well and 2021 Nov 47lb, 2022 Nov 50lb 😁 regards from Poland 🇵🇱👍

    Another quality video! QQ, when casting out, if you don’t hit the spot you want to hit, is it a good idea to real back in and try again even a few times until you’re hookbait is in the spot you want? Or should I leave well enough alone if my first cast is close enough (so I don’t spook the fish too much with too many casts)?
    Thanks a lot. Joe (big fan from the US)

    Great video. But had a question about zigs. I fish a 60 acres gravel pit with depths up to 45ft. How do I know what depth to put my zigs? It's a days only lake so not a lot of time to find out what depth the fish hold up. Thank you in advance.

      Impossible to say mate it will vary day to day. As a starting point I usually start off in the upper layers. The quickest way to find them will be to fish one rod from the bottom to surface moving it up a ft or 2 at a time and fish another rod from the surface to the lake bed until they meet in the middle so to speak in theory it will half the time finding what depth their at.good luck and Tight lines pal👍

  • @Toronto_James

    so where do you draw the line at overthinking these things? how much of this actually matters?
    the last korda video showed dan getting done over multiple times & he has everything he needs at his fingertips to catch those carp for the camera & it took days to catch one. despite all of his experience, all of his resources, the carp are still picking up & spitting out his bait with a conversion rate of 33%.
    How does choosing the color of rig tubing increase catch rates?
    (should point out that I think it's fun to talk about rigs, however I'm not sure how much of a difference rigs make when you get everything else right)

    • @jaketheheron
      @jaketheheron Год назад +1

      I think finding a spot where you’re able to film, fitting a camera, then enticing carp to feed there during the day, then catching one in crystal clear water with an alien camera on the spot, casting after first light ect. Hell of an achievement. If he’d fished that spot for a few nights with no camera, he’d probably had a fair few bites. The under water still makes angling harder, not easier

    • @Toronto_James
      @Toronto_James Год назад

      totally get that Jake & agree with you completely. great angling & I am extremely greatful that Korda put these films out. (1000 apologies to anyone at Korda if they thought I was trolling - it was more of a rhetorical question).
      I think Dan's understanding of rig mechanics is amazing & he's one of the best, but even when he's at his best, it's a 1 in 3 conversion rate. Even Dovey laughs at him when he says he'll catch on the first pickup. If that is the case then are we sweating the small stuff too much & concentrating on whatever is needed to make it a 1 in 1 conversion?

    • @KordaTV
      @KordaTV  Год назад +1

      In this case, Luke would opt for a combo-multi rig, using a size 4 Kamakura Choddy. This rig still allows your bait to be popped up, yet remaining close to the lakebed.

    Why is there a moral obligation not to fish with maggots? Surely the are the closest thing to a carps natural food and surely the moral obligation is not to overstock to the point fish cannot survive without anglers bait? I think Tim Paisley referred to the. As hungry waters.
