because it would blow away all the so called establishment country so called artists or bands , that’s why. It would spoil the pseudo fake country industry

John Jorgensen on guitar and harmony. He's been musical director on award shows and was gracious enough to appear at the Rose Maddox Tribute/Benefit concert in Modesto,Ca. when the music legend was having health problems. Thank you John,we remember.

@@annrcantu9273 I've seen Jorgenson and Pedersen as part of John's bluegrass band. That was pretty fantastic. My band was opening for them that night. I generally don't like this kind of country, but Jorgenson and Pedersen have got the legit chops and background to give it some depth.

    • @jonsievert7266

Not exactly true to say they never broke through. They had 7 Top 10 singles, including two #1 and two #2. Three of the albums were in the Top 30. The string ran out after six years. Jorgenson left the band in 1991 to form the Hellecasters. Chris and Herb still perform together on a fairly regular basis.

My only complaint is that country music audiences, before the '90's or so, were too reserved. A great performance like this by the DRB should have had the audience on their feet, cheering, whistling and showing them what a great time they're having. This audience acts like they've just been given a presentation on affordable homeowner's insurance.

Chris played in a bluegrass band, The Scottsville Squirrel Barkers, from age 15 to 17. (He played mandolin. He didn't play bass until he was in The Byrds.) While he was doing that, Gram was junior high school age and playing 50s r&r. Then he discovered folk music when he was 16, and played with the Shilohs. (They sounded like the Kingston Trio.) He didn't get into country music until he went to college, dropped out, and started The International Submarine Band. After that band fell apart he joined The Byrds, which Chris was already in. After that, Chris and Gram started the Burritos, which they both wrote songs for, mostly together. Then Gram left to start his solo career. Chris has never copied anyone's style. Maybe you aren't familiar with the history of these guys.
