I have been watching Isabel’s channel for a least 6 years and it is consistently the most thoroughly researched and immaculately crafted videos in structure, function, and thesis. I’ve seen some channels try to imitate her content and fail to even come close to the level of substance and argument she presents, I hope someone gives her lots of money and resources one day (if not already) to continue to do this work - it always illuminates so much about society and those times beyond just the actor or movie discussed.

Excellent in that film, in fact, I've wondered if one of the 2 parts he plays, inspired Jerry Lewis' persona on stage and film.

I've been a fan of Isabel's Film analysis essays ever since I saw her comparison video on all 4 versions of 'A Star is Born' and her work is a true inspiration for me.
I watched A Foreign Affair during a Jean Arthur day during Summer Under the Stars. This is a good one. Arthur and Dietrich are brilliant together. Love Be Kind Rewind. I can't name which segment is my favorite. I'd say the segments on Myrna Loy, Deborah Kerr, Tallulah Bankhead, and controversy surrounding Julia are some of my favorites. I'd love for BKR to do a segment on Diahann Carroll.
I love this film! It's the only film John Lund is really any good in. Jean Arthur delivers some wonderful lines, especially the poignant one about loneliness. Dietrich is pitch perfect as woman who is distinctly morally grey reduced to surviving on her 'assets'. The people are surviving on their wits. The songs and the bits about the hopelessness of the immediate post war situation in Germany are a reminder of what it takes to rebuild a country destroyed by total war, is a lesson from Wilder, done with his usual flair and wit.
FYI there is a good FREE ebook named A Foreign Affair about this and other Billy Wilder films. It’s a bit on the academic side but still accessible. Unfortunately I don’t get TCM anymore, but nice to see the intro (long time Be Kind Rewind fan here).
@pennycheshire5608 seriously, most of her documentaries are almost sixty minutes long. I wonder if he actually saw the videos or he just saw bunch of clips and called it a day.
