I used to love this game! Me and my little bro used to play 3player free for all matches and double team the cpu player. And I'd betray him by using a special on him. He'd get revenge, but the look on his face was priceless. XD Oh the memories.
WrestleMania X8 was simple, it was an initial installment, so I was not expecting it to be as spectacular as Smackdown. That being the case, I really enjoyed the spirit system, the varying colors. That more so suits how wrestlers performs; blue = slower, weaker, danger of pinfall or submission; red = faster, stronger, less likely of pin or submission. This prompted to actually work the opponent over, wear them down like a real fight. Not merely a race to the S, hit a finisher and it's over. That is a fault of Smackdown games back then, I did not like it. I was for games like World Tour, Revenge, WrestleMania 2000, No Mercy. Later I thought WrestleMania X8 had potential, and it did. WrestleMania XIX was better. Day of Reckoning was better, then Day of Reckoning 2 was even better than previous installments. So, I hated that it just ended like that. Then came the Smackdown vs Raw games, which took a nosedive after Here Comes The Pain, but I am really enjoying WWE 2K14.
There is ONE THING this game does much better than the Smackdown games. The tables. Oh boy, the tables are so much fun to play around with! Sometimes, if you're on multiplayer (and thus, the dipshit AI can't screw up your plans), it's fun to just abandon the match and play around with how many different ways you can break the tables! In the Smackdown games, you have to put your opponent on a table, and then you have to perform some sort of specially-made move with its own animation. But in this game? Just about any "slam" type move can put your opponent through a table, as long as you make sure their hit box lands on top of the table. For the life of me, I can't imagine why this didn't become a STAPLE of wrestling games! Just like Create-A-Wrestler or adding your own music for use as entrance themes ... this gameplay mechanic should have made an appearance in every wrestling game from WMX8 to the present!
The table matches are super fun on this, i remember doing fatal 4 way table matches, i used to setup a table in the ring, jump through it to eliminate myself then have fun for the rest of the match as you stay on the outside, they don't send you away so i just fill up the ring with tables, get the ref stuck and get into the ring, for some reason this occupied me for hours, this game is just amazing.
I remember when this first came out and I was so psyched to finally get a WWE game on the Gamecube so it was probably just my childish glee but I quite liked this game back in the day. Now, of course it's lost its shine.
you would LOVE the storymode in day of reckoning. It's so perfect and the music is 10X better. WMX8 kinda blew ass. But XIX and DOR are great! they are like new versions of the n64 games.
My first wrestling game on the GC was Day of Reckoning 2, compared to the original SVR the GC felt so much more empty mainly because of the lack of voices in most situations but the graphics were top notch and I still think the story mode was the best I've ever played in a WWE game, even though it was more of a personal drama story over wrestling themes or goals I thought that made it really stand out and it was told well. Plus I will never forget how many hours it took me to button mash A to get over the damn cage at Summerslam. I definitely want to own the DOR series again and try these WM ones as well.
WrestleMania X8 is like the Gamecube counterpart of WWE SmackDown!: Shut Your Mouth for PlayStation 2 or vice versa, due to both games being released in the same year. Same goes for WrestleMania XIX, WWE RAW 2 and WWE SmackDown!: Here Comes the Pain, which those 3 are counterparts of each other due to being released in the same year.
The first images of WMX8 online (The Rock giving Stone Cold a Rock Bottom) sold me to get this game. So months went by...read everything about the game in Game Informer, Game Pro, EGM, etc...saved my money and replayed WM2000 and No Mercy and imagining WMX8. And when I finally bought the game in Spring 2002 and played it, I was disappointed. And the worst part of the game was the Create a Wrestler. Even Acclaim's War Zone has a better CAW. There is only one thing I like about WMX8...you can have anyone win any Championship. For example, I have Big Show as the Light Heavyweight Champion and Stacy Keibler as the WWF/E Undisputed Champion.
This is HANDSDOWN my favourite wrestling game. I've tried x19 and day of reckoning 1 and 2 and this one just plays better to me and the character create is fantastic. I wish you could have more finishers though and maybe an updated moveset!! But just the feel and camera angles and the simplicity is awesome And the crowd is awesome to because they make the same sounds for reversals and finishers so you know it happens almost before it happens hahaha. Man such a great game... being able to go backstage would be great!
one thing I never understood when starting the WWE GameCube games is why THQ stopped working with Aki. I believe if they continued their working relationship with Aki the games would have been the greatest of all time.
I never had a gamecube. I was a ps2 guy and with games like Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes The Pain that I played when I was younger I had no reason to. But I played this years after the gamecube died and I thought it was ok. I enjoyed pretty much all the gamecube WWE games
This game really sucked. No story made, lack of moves and mainly poor imitations of wrestlers' themes (including the NWO and Booker T theme). It felt unfinished and I don't buy into the fact that it was the first wrestling game on Gamecube as nintendo fans were treated to the excellent Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy games on the N64 and it was made by the same people who made SmackDown! series for the playstation 2. Gamecube owners got a really raw deal
Samuel Coe Gamecube then got some really good games though honestly. Wrestlemania XIX story really just has a really unique story mode (even though its difficult to follow because a lot of the info isnt in the game) but its just something so unique and a whole new atmosphere to immerse yourself in. Even though the Revenge mode wasnt as interactive as the Smackdown! backstage areas, they still were really interesting. The Day of Reckoning games though were just amazing, I really enjoyed them and the story mode was probably my favorite of all the wrestling games. They actually really reminded me of the n64 games.
DeathxStarx187 Wrestlemania XIX was an improvement from this but it was still lightyears away from Smackdown. The story mode was somewhat odd and still not the conventional story mode GameCube wwe fans were desperate for! DOR 1 + 2 were good, it's a shame they weren't the original two games though!
Samuel Coe I can respect that though, I can see that XIX was hit and miss. If you dont like it, I see no reason to argue or anything. I just found it to be my absolute favorite in terms of how creative you could be on it
+Samuel Coe agreed back in 2002 i did not own a gamecube and as a 16 year kid wrestling fan i wanted this game so bad. and I eventually found out that it was not a great game and that it did not live to its potential whatsoever. even smackdown just bring it had a much more variety of options gamemodes to chose from and even had a story mode.

I was disappointed with this game, especially after playing WrestleMania 2000 and No Mercy on the N64. I was hoping it would be as good as those games.
the entrances are amazing for its time undertakers entrance the lights go bright when it says KEEP ROLLING ROLLING ROLLING and then taker comes out and its in some ways better than the curent games the gameplay reminds me of n64 games and games like raw 2 etc i never played the champions mode so i have nothing unlocked but i think it has amazing unlockables they should have just had a "create a moveset" instead of getting peoples hopes up with "yay i can customize wrestlers! aww moves..." #minireview
when my PS2 broke down I could no longer play Shut Your Mouth so this game was all me and my friends had to go with. with one month to payday it felt like eternity.
This was the first game I had for my game cube back when it first came out. Tbh, the campain/story mode was utter trash. It made no sense and had nothing to do with wrestling. The exhibition mode wasn't bad. Ended up selling my game cube and got an Xbox instead. I got WWE Raw 2, which was much better
I know this is an old video, but you really need to just Say these things out loud, instead of reading them. It's really 'too obvious' at certain points.
WCW Nitro, WWE Raw, WWF European Rampage Tour, WWF In Your House, WWF With Authority, WWF Wrestlemania. I was surprised by how many there was for PC. Might wanna look on eBay for these. It's your best bet.

😆 Now I want to get the game again just to try that.
I really liked this game. It wasn't great but it was good. It was only the 1st attempt on Gamecube.
I remember when this first came out and I was so psyched to finally get a WWE game on the Gamecube so it was probably just my childish glee but I quite liked this game back in the day. Now, of course it's lost its shine.
Glad to see you doing vidoes again LionsEdge keep up the great reviews coming
So many amazing memories of playing this during the Summer of 2002.
yes the summer of 2002 was amazing.
This game needs to be remastered and updated for Nintendo GameCube, PS3, Sega DreamCast & X-Box 360.
Agreed, would love it for the PS4 though.
I agree.
Not it doesn't.
Factz
I feel the same about WM-X8, but 19 is so nostalgic for me, and I do feel like it improved on a lot of things and was a far better game.
*WWE, after their lawsuit with the World Wildlife Fund, discussing this game*
"Should we keep the WWF name in the game or replace it with WWE?"
"Yes."

I found this game to be alright. Not bad, but far from great.

I'd prefer this one over Wrestlemania 19, funner roster, and more features

As a first Gamecube wwe wrestling game it was much better than PS2's first WWE game, Just Bring It.
Honestly all 3 systems had shitty wrestling launch titles

The legend has returned.
Where could you get WrestleMania 19, in the United States answer anyone please =) !

This is actually the best wrestling game i've played, certainly the most fun i've ever had......I really want this remade.
Not everything needs a remade....
@@jonathanhannah4 I know but this does.
@@KakarotOwns Why?
@@jonathanhannah4 My favourite wrestling game in terms of having the most fun on it.

Your avatar fits perfectly
The PS2 games were better I'm not kidding
I was barely able to beat the 20 man rumble in this, i barely beat it with the star i started with hard, so much easier in wrestle mania 19.
whats your intro music
I can't control the volume of my voice!
look so cool
Does anyone know what the song is called in the intro? It sounds awesome
Just bought this game on amazon
guys could you tell me which WWE games are available for PC
WCW Nitro, WWE Raw, WWF European Rampage Tour, WWF In Your House, WWF With Authority, WWF Wrestlemania. I was surprised by how many there was for PC. Might wanna look on eBay for these. It's your best bet.
thanks dude, but I actually played all of them, wan't to be sure that there weren't any other games I haven't played yet
