One of the shining lights within and without the animation field. I almost met Walt in 1966. But I have met Floyd and will be there for his celebration next month. A wonderful cat and has a new book out as well.

I can't figure out why some people tried to accuse Walt of being anti-semetic or a racist.... but pretty sure Floyd Norman put them in their places.

He was fool. There were cartoons by him that show that including old magazines Floyd was too lazy to look up. I already saw through the lies while someone like you are too programmed and misled when it was Walt who killed Hollywood in 1950s with the aid of his friends McCarthy, Nixon, Reagan, and Hoover the FBI leader

I want to make a feature film biopic about Floyd Norman from his childhood to animation pioneer. Are you guys going to hate it? Be honest.

To this day it still bothers me that the late Bill Melendez (Charlie Brown/Snoopy TV producer) harbored such negative views of Walt even after he died. He was one of the animators that left Disney after the 1941 strike...after the fact, he publicly stated in 1995 that Walt was a bigot, an anti-Semite, and even spoke of a rumor that he fired a person for being "too dark skinned".
It would have been great to see Floyd Norman and the Sherman Brothers call him out when they had the chance.

Bob Sherman died a few years ago, but fortunately Dick is still alive to refute the lies. Many of the allegations of racism and anti-Semitism against Walt also come from Art Babbitt, a Jewish Disney animator who, like Melendez, quit during the strike after several years of complaining about the working conditions. Babbitt later claimed to have seen Walt at a meeting of Hollywood Nazi sympathizers. Of course, he conveniently left out the fact that Walt hired him despite his Jewish background, that he hired other Jews both as animators and songwriters, and that Walt had accepted a government contract to make anti-Nazi cartoons during World War II.

It has to do with associations he had (that he later distanced himself from) with anti-Communist groups that were anti-Semitic, but he wasn't, and many of his Jewish colleagues came to his defense. And while it seems he was racially insensitive (see: Song of the South), as many were in past decades, he was never seen as outwardly racist.

This was Neal Gabler's conclusion in his biography of Walt Disney: he wasn't racist, but like many whites of his time, he was racially insensitive.

No it was not. A rattlesnake has more power than that sell out who made Minstrel racist art for Jungle book to hurt blacks. You are so misled and like cheap shit that makes Godzilla look like a king than boring Mickey rat.

While we're on the subject, why not ask Dick Sherman whether Walt Disney was a racist or anti-Semite? He'd probably have some choice words for those who keep propagating this slander.

He met him while he was being used to shut black people up. What a sell out and fool. Got taken out of Disney after he was already used up. Disney was racist and he messed with that man's culture. I bet he never saw Mother Goose Disney cartoon that is a stroke against him and Disney fired a very dark Indian man because he was darker than that weasel of a artist. Floyd helped draw Minstrel art for Jungle book too and made his own image look like a joke too.
