I agree! This is by far the best of her films from the 50's. I'd say it was easily in her top 5 best movies ever made. Love how it was so over the top. Classic Crawford at her best!
"Queen Bee - One female alone may bee the Queen Bee. All the other females gotta to serve the Queen Bee. Now, they all bee sayin' sh*** like, "She bee this, and she bee that" but they just bee haytin' 'cause she bee the Queen Bee."
"Queen Bee was a movie I found horrifying when I saw it a year later... her performance...was not a job of acting nor was it a characterization of another person." - Christina Crawford (Mommie Dearest) 📖
I saw in a documentary about Joan, where Betsy Palmer said there were several times Joan and John Ireland called in sick for the days shooting. They even showed the actual call sheet with their names on it, showing them absent. Apparently they were having an affair on the set. Betsy Palmer said they would be up all night boozen and ballin, her exact words, and added with a chuckle, whatever got them through the night. That's what I love about Crawford, even at 50ish, she still had a healthy sexual appetite.
More than a sexual appetite I would say that I think she was looking for love and never found it. That is why his "promiscuous" part because he always believed that he would have men at his feet.
It was also a good way for her to work on the nuances of her particular character. By learning more about her director, for example, during the course of a love affair.
i have seen lot of classics in my Munich days as drama film school student and i want to re visit them, this was also one of the movies, but after having seen so much of course you forget a lot and need to see good cinema all over again.
One of her more underrated movies. She owned the fuck out of her role! "Really? A whole decision?! All by yourself?". She just oozes with b***h flavor! I love it!
[Miss Crawford] is the height of mellifluous meanness and frank insincerity. When she is killed at the end, as she should be, it is a genuine pleasure and relief." -- Bosley Crowther's review of Queen Bee in The New York Times.
NYT used to have some incredible reviews, back long before I was born. The Times' original review of 'Tobacco Road', among many others, really said what needed saying.
Loved this movie, but found the Lucy Marlow character Jennifer quite annoying. With her enormous forehead, flat face and beady eyes, she begins inserting herself into her hosts personal lives within 5 minutes of her arrival. She immediately starts passing judgements, some good, some not so good, on everyone she's introduced to. In the end, her judgements all turned out to be wrong and ass backwards. Then with the cherry on top, she begins flirting with her hosts husband Avery, in what seems like only a few days after showing up. (Yeah, she's suppose to be the good guy in the film) Crawford you expect to be a nasty bitch, and here she doesn't disappoint. But in regards to Jennifer, I almost wished I heard Betsy Palmer's Carol character to say to herself; Kill her mommy, kill her! Oh don't worry, I will!
I also noticed they also never filmed closeups of the character of Jennifer. Jennifer also has facial structure of that green wicked witch in the motion picture, Oz, the Great and Powerful.
Here is the thing about human nature, we all have flaws without fail, and you have to segregate the psycho hurting abusive harrasing to others for no reason to mild eccentric and differences of opinions of seeing life, world to genuine mistakes ones, and then when you have resources you can then try and make things better for the ones you want to and see that trying to tell somebody about their mistakes what are the methods, because you cannot hurt somebody very bad for genuine mistakes then there is no difference between you and bad asses who need to be straightened out, like here this woman character is genuine bad ass and she gets what she deserved in the end, but in earlier Pixie one there the man had no idea that he has hurt somebody by throwing the bag of trash and he gets pounded in return without knowing, then it becomes equally bad ass.

Honestly....I feel like this is my favorite of all Joan Crawford's films. She should have been nominated for an award in this.
"Isn't it revolting.....that he's only just told us??" I absolutely love that line and how she delivers it. :-)
Lol, yes.
She's indeed a natural.
Love this movie. Crawford playing Crawford. Can't beat it!
Joan was full-on Drag Queen mode in this picture 😱
Phillip Amura 👰👸
renkar820 YESSSS!!!!!!!!
Joan descending the stairs in her magnificent Jean Louis gown---what could be grander?!

❤🎉
"Queen Bee was a movie I found horrifying when I saw it a year later... her performance...was not a job of acting nor was it a characterization of another person." - Christina Crawford (Mommie Dearest) 📖
I just read that and I had to see it for myself!
Christina the drama queen has spoken.
She wasn't acting. She was just being herself
Considering that she plays exactly the same person in a couple of other movies, I have to agree. She'd take over a movie, and make it about HER.
Ed Miller I think it’s you who didn’t get their point
Yeah, if you read Mommie Dearest it's clear that this is how she acted outside of the movies.
This film was pure Hollywood trash!! No wonder it caused several drive-ins to close.
Plenty of box-office poison in her bee sting.
1:16 Barry Sullivan looks like a freakin robot the way he's sitting.
One of my faves! ❤️
This is Joan Crawford at her finest!! 🤗❤️
00:30 NO ATHLETIC TROPHIES...EVER!
Lmao
Or wire hangers
One of the best movies ever!!!

Wasn't that Crawford's custom? With her directors and leading men during production.
@@mehmetokay7073 yes, from what I've read. I think deep down inside, she was an insecure woman.
It was also a good way for her to work on the nuances of her particular character. By learning more about her director, for example, during the course of a love affair.
Her partners would need to have been very, very “boozed” !
Eva: Isn't she so young and lovely ?
Judd: Yes, and how you HATE her for that !
love Joan

No acting for Joan here. That's really her... lock, stock and shock! According to her daughter Christina. Joan was a real charmer??!!
"And now, meet the Queen BEETCH!"
@harrietcraig2 "Now I'm ready for people"

Crawford's first steps down the hill. The staircase as metaphor.
All it’s missing is Christina, an axe and a can of Bon Ami.
The book was very good. I have never scene this movie.
Nice! Now I realize that "regina" is latin for "queen".
0:34 Joan looked like she was on Botox even before Botox was invented.
She learned how to control her face muscles.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas!!!

And i like human flaws drama well woven tales very much.
Who thought of Joan Crawford for the role? Funny, isn’t it !
Somehow I've made it through my entire life without seeing this movie and hopefully I'll go to my deathbed in the same condition.
En donde se puede ver esta joya de Joan crawford ?
They should have remade this in the 80s with Barbra, Redford, Tom Cruise, Winona Ryder, and Melanie Griffith.
Where I can see it online? 🙏 I love this woman so much!

U said a mouthful Wayne!
Of course, the fly in the ointment of the pseudosciential "logic" in the opening disquisition about queen bees is that humans are not bees.
Barry Sullivan looks like Keanu Reeves
¿donde la puedo ver online?
Marcos Guitarra Amazon Prime!
where can i download this movie??

Y la traducción al castellano?
