    This described for me what I needed, and what Tigo's own info could not. Great!

      Just don’t ever try and use the doubles on a flush mount installation. Wire management is impossible, esp. with having to plug in both panels before the string.

    Nicely done. I'm still learning about solar systems and this is an important area that I was not aware of. Thank you for the demonstration.

    How do you trigger the rapid shut down? Is it done wirelessly?

    • @SignatureSolar
      @SignatureSolar  20 дней назад

      To initiate a rapid shutdown with a Tigo Rapid Shutdown Device (RSD), you need to deactivate the "keep-alive" signal sent by the Tigo Rapid Shutdown System (RSS) Transmitter. This is typically achieved by using an external switch connected to the inverter or by a signal from the grid loss detection system. Once the "keep-alive" signal is interrupted, all connected Tigo TS4 modules quickly reduce their voltage to a safe level within 30 seconds, effectively shutting down the solar array.

    Is it possible to proceed with I-V Curve measurements if there are installed optimizer units in the string?

    • @SignatureSolar
      @SignatureSolar  6 месяцев назад

      Unfortunately, IV Curve tracing will not work for any Tigo devices (whether RSD is activated or not). The Tigo MLPE units receive their functional power from the PV Module, and the IV Curve test will present conditions that range from Isc to Voc. This effectively starves the MLPE from its running power and (if sustained) the unit will shut down.

    Hi I’m about to order 6 O versions, will they work without the tap ? Or are they going to need a firmware update? Many thanks

    • @rmassuser
      @rmassuser Год назад

      I have read that they work without the tap for the shutdown function but not for the optimization or data logging. but someone should confirm that is more knowledgeable than me!

    Would these work with Ecoflow Delta Pro Ultra Home backup system? It can accept up to 450 volts at 15 amps

    • @SignatureSolar
      @SignatureSolar  5 месяцев назад

      It can work with an RSS transmitter without an inverter so it should work in your application. The transmitter's power supply would just need to be on the same ac circuit as the RSI.

    Thank you for sharing I have a question since I'm in ground Mount therefore I don't need these however I do like the idea of being able to optimize having said that I will have a high voltage array with eight panels 480 watts each combined with a Schneider Electric 100 amp 600 volt charge controller what will you recommend for me and how many of these would I need thank you

    • @brucey5585
      @brucey5585 8 месяцев назад

      You would need 8 tigo ts4 a O for optimizing. 1 tigo per panel, since 1 of your panel is pretty much the limit of 1 tigo. Then you will also need the tap module and rss module.

    Safety looks expensive. Do I need to add this type of system to remote ground and none occupied structures?

    • @SignatureSolar
      @SignatureSolar  11 месяцев назад

      Whether or not your PV panels require module level shutdown is up to your local AHJ, and you are correct, you would need a TS4 for each solar panel.

    • @brucey5585
      @brucey5585 8 месяцев назад

      Even if you dont have each panel shutdown. Still get an expensive shutdown switch for the array.

      @@SignatureSolar thanks for your reply.- Let me restate the question perhaps i have asked incorrectly. If I have Hyperion solar panels and a powerwall 3 for my battery backup for a grid tied system, could I add these optimizers to the panels? Are the optimizers compatible with Tesla PW3 inverter and Tesla gateway 3?

    • @SignatureSolar
      @SignatureSolar  4 месяца назад

      You're so welcome! The optimizers don't interact with other system components, except for optional use with TIGO software to optimize PV performance. Just plug them into the panels, and no further action is required.
      If rapid shutdown is needed, additional steps will be necessary. Make sure the panels are within the optimizers' amperage and voltage specifications for compatibility.

      @@SignatureSolarjust so I’m clear, the TG4-A-O don’t need the CCA, the TAP, or anything else if they are being used solely for optimization. Is that correct? The software you mentioned is 100% optional?

    sad, that there is no device for Optimization AND Fire Shutdown AND Monitoring. Yes, you can combine them, but who wants to clip 2 modules behind the pv modules with all the risks of defects (and of course the price when using many pv modules).
    So the m device can really NOT separate the module from the string by command?

    • @SignatureSolar
      @SignatureSolar  10 месяцев назад

      Yes, the only way to get all 3 would be to mix and match the TIGO TS4-A-F and the TS4-A-O.

    • @jessiej3991

      There is no device like that because they need your money and not because they can't actually make a single module that does all 3 tasks

      The TS4-A-O has all 3 features. TIGO has a video explaining this. ruclips.net/video/UFLmfH-pL7k/видео.html
