I was here. 2008, a freshmen in High School. Man...seemed like such a long time ago, well damn, it was 6 years ago. I just cant believe I found this video. The memories, the ever lasting love I have for Brand New. This band is engraved in my heart forever
@@bstnhardcore Yep.. saw them on that Drive Thru Records showcase tour. The lineup was Brand New, Starting Line, Finch, and Open Hand... To the generation of kids that are late to the Brand Nizzle party, welcome and enjoy it how you want to. Many of you cut your nizzle teeth on Devil and God. Thats cool because my good friend who introduced me to the band right after Your Favorite Weapon was released is in love with the first two albums and never got around to Devil/God.(he is a strange cat but my point is we all have our own experience surrounding the bands and albums that are more than a staple in the library... more like a soundtrack to the events we choose to define what our life looks like. Here's the thing, I still consider 2008 to be the shit that just happened and is still fresh and culturally relevant. Just because a 5 year span of time is like everything from '1st pube to we have a kid on the way'... well shit, that was 2000-2005 for me.. (not the pubes thing cuz arent we all still just saying no to hair down there?) Now 5 years is the time it takes for me to finally get comfortable with something or now its the cooling off period where we still sleep with our exes but just dont talk about it. I should have prefaced this with a disclaimer that I just turned 40.. I'm not handling it well, 2008 was my first failed attempt at family life and resulted in an extended stay in rehab over xmas. Rehab #2 came 9 years later Come at me, frosh!
It's Untitled fleshed out with excerpts from Noro and other randomness. I love what Brand New do live, I just saw them in Newcastle, UK where they did their usual You Won't Know ending piece but they combined it with Tautou. I'd never heard that variant before!
This being recorded at like such a low quality is just perfect for some reason, like it was meant to be..thanks for sharing! Just saw Brand New last night, my favorite band ever!
I saw them do this in Philadelphia - it was absolutely amazing. Lights went out, then one single light up on Jesse, then Vinnie came and took the guitar from him and started playing that gnarly little lead part. Then BAM. All the lights came on, and our asses got kicked. Cannot wait for September 22nd.
A lot of people want this to be on the new album. FYI, this is on their third album. This is "Untitled". Just -really- fleshed out. It's really beautiful
I remember this. The had to come back and play the show at the end of the tour because the roof of the Armory caved in the day of the tour opening when the were originally scheduled to play.
i was there, i remember this it was so amazing, i almost cried. i love brand new and when they played outside cause the armory got snowed on and they sang christmas songs.
I wasn't at this exact show but I was at a show in Kansas City and they played this same encore. All the other bands there that night joined them on stage and it was like one big jam session. Just plain Amazing. My jaw dropped to the floor. So sick
+reggie cortana I noticed that as well. It sounds like a mixture of Noro and Untitled to me. Then Welcome to Bangkok. When I watched them in Salt Lake City in 2012 they had a similar interlude/song. It was unbelievable.
i saw this in cleveland. blew me away. the guys from mewithout you came on stage and did a stomp foot and clap thing that went with the beat perfectly. it was sincerely epic.
I didn't say they were playing it, just playing around with the chords, doing a bit of improv. It sounds very similar to it. Especially at 0:36 with the harmonics and then at 0:56 the guitar has the same melody and cadence to it as the "I could never miss it/I will never listen" part in Untitled.
I was at a show on this tour in Pittsburgh and they started to play this and Jesse fucked up the loop so they played seventy times 7 instead, which was pretty incredible.
They played this all through out the Devil and God tour so there should be videos out there. Most intense show I've been to. He played NMH's "Oh Comely" on that tour as well.
I missed this show. Remember? The roof collapsed at the venue for the first show due to snow, and it got rescheduled as a result. Of course on the week after I was to ship out it was rescheduled. That... Would be my life, of course.
It's basically the song [Untitled] from The Devil and God. . . It's the same chord progression, and sounds nearly the same til 5:30 when they start rocking out. The chords stay the same, but the intensity, obviously, changes.
The repeating guitar part sounds remarkably similar to 'April 8th' by Neutral Milk Hotel - Jeff Magnum is also a big influence on Jesse Lacey I believe? Great encore nevertheless
No, untitled has no lyrics, only a creepy voice saying something inaudible, I believe "I will never listen" This encore sounds like a weird version of Welcome to Bangkok
The fact of the matter is that bass and base are pronounced the same way, yet mean two different things, this guy claimed to be an audio engineer, I wouldn't trust it with him misspelling bass, usually because an adult should be able to type rather accurately.
I doubt that you can restore sound that distorted. You can't get the clarity from the instruments back. Try recording the audio on something else that can handle the volume next time. :)
I mean e is on a completely different line then s is, sure its adjacent to it but it is in no way easier to hit e after typing s then it would be to just type s again. Stop trying to cover up nonsense

yes
imagine seeing brand new in 2001being a junior in high school and thinking how long ago that was.
Thank you for sharing this, I completely agree

holy fuck that build up, i need a cigarette
I won't ever stop to thank you for this video.
Watching this again. I was there that night, and all of those feelings that I felt that night are coming back. This band changed my life, fuck.
I love this damn song. It's called untitled, and it's off The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me
I saw them do this in Philadelphia - it was absolutely amazing. Lights went out, then one single light up on Jesse, then Vinnie came and took the guitar from him and started playing that gnarly little lead part.

Listen closely to Untitled, it's the exact same pieces, they played this at the end of almost every set from 2007-2011 or so
Love all that flip phone action
+Lauren Randolph ahh the golden days. hahaha
It sounds kinda like Dramamine.
I agree.
I remember this. The had to come back and play the show at the end of the tour because the roof of the Armory caved in the day of the tour opening when the were originally scheduled to play.
I wish i was there, it sounds AMAZING!
If they just dropped another album on us I'd flip the fuck out.
theyre workin on it!!
fightoffyourdemons.com check out that picture on their webpage!!!
They're endlessly working on it.
still working on it
Saeboria getting there...
and the fact that a concert atmosphere blows away most phone cams and even most digital cameras
WOWWWW! I still haven't heard a band with this talent in 10 years...
i was there, i remember this it was so amazing, i almost cried. i love brand new and when they played outside cause the armory got snowed on and they sang christmas songs.
probably the best encore EVER!
I wasn't at this exact show but I was at a show in Kansas City and they played this same encore. All the other bands there that night joined them on stage and it was like one big jam session. Just plain Amazing. My jaw dropped to the floor. So sick
the chillllls
They did this also awhile ago about 06, back at Soma in San Diego, with Kevin Devine and Manchester Orchestra.
Noro off their fourth record has that same riff and it came out a year after this was uploaded. i fucking love bn
+reggie cortana
I noticed that as well. It sounds like a mixture of Noro and Untitled to me. Then Welcome to Bangkok. When I watched them in Salt Lake City in 2012 they had a similar interlude/song. It was unbelievable.
+Christian Dockstader I was at that SLC show at the U. Was so good.
+Alex Spencer probably my most cherished memory ...
This is untitled son. Untitled and noro have the same riff. I Noro, the bass plays the riff.
i saw this in cleveland. blew me away. the guys from mewithout you came on stage and did a stomp foot and clap thing that went with the beat perfectly. it was sincerely epic.
a minute in and the goosebumps are already hitting me
I remember this. It was really special.
I saw them at red rocks a few years ago before shit hit the fan. I cried so much. Best show of my life.
this is amazing
My question is why. The. FUCK. People are TALKING near the person filming this while Brand New is playing?!
drunks and punks
this is flabbergasting
they played the exact same encore in toronto
blew my mind,
what i would give to see it again...
Brand New is just so fucking awesome.
this is why they need to play encores more often!! i'm so jealous!!
Holy hell.
Did anybody else think that the beginning sounds a bit like Modest Mouse? This is a good thing.
I am so pumped to see these guys in August.
holy shit.
did a fan jump on brain lane at the end
A post-rock Brand New. That's what I want to hear more of.
This is amazing. Can't wait to hear some new stuff!
they really are, i wish they would come around again sometime soon.
oh and jesse was standing on top of a half stack in front of the drums and lost balance stepped back and fell on the drum set. amazing
Greatest encore ever!
I'm pretty sure they were playing around with "Untitled" off of The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me. That's what it sounds like to me.
yeah depressing to never be able to experience this again. ugh
5:21 you ain't talking no more
this needs to be recorded in a studio
Its like an extended version of Untitled
Headphones users turn up volume at 5:19 or you'll miss it.
You piece of shit.....and I wasn't even using headphones!
daaaang, i wish they played this when i saw them around that time/year in sf
I didn't say they were playing it, just playing around with the chords, doing a bit of improv. It sounds very similar to it. Especially at 0:36 with the harmonics and then at 0:56 the guitar has the same melody and cadence to it as the "I could never miss it/I will never listen" part in Untitled.
You can tell Jesse is influenced by Neutral Milk Hotel... Other than being known to cover their songs, this intro riff sounds simular to April 8th.
i never wanted this to end, ever.
I was at a show on this tour in Pittsburgh and they started to play this and Jesse fucked up the loop so they played seventy times 7 instead, which was pretty incredible.
Does anyone know if they've played this instrumental before? is there any clearer audio of this floating around? So beautiful..
It MIGHT be a different version of Welcome to Bangkok maybe.
it's untitled TheImagination96
Agreed. Hauntingly beautiful.
They played this all through out the Devil and God tour so there should be videos out there. Most intense show I've been to. He played NMH's "Oh Comely" on that tour as well.
168 likes and no dislikes, thats how Brand New does things.
it was so epic that i don't actually think i went to it.
you people always have to comment that there are no dislikes then people come along and click it just to spite you.
I missed this show. Remember? The roof collapsed at the venue for the first show due to snow, and it got rescheduled as a result. Of course on the week after I was to ship out it was rescheduled. That... Would be my life, of course.
Incredible
AAAAHHHHHH FUCK YESSSSSSSS
Uh...yeah
is the dude in the background and baseball hat just messing around or is he trying to do fieldy from Korn?
helllllllll yeahh!
this should be on the new upcoming album !
I was there! It WAS epic. :)
It's basically the song [Untitled] from The Devil and God. . . It's the same chord progression, and sounds nearly the same til 5:30 when they start rocking out. The chords stay the same, but the intensity, obviously, changes.
I have a version of this in studio!!! I'll upload it!
The repeating guitar part sounds remarkably similar to 'April 8th' by Neutral Milk Hotel - Jeff Magnum is also a big influence on Jesse Lacey I believe?
Great encore nevertheless
Some days are harder than others.
They're still hard.
illest band out there
post rock!
Got it.
Yeah its real similar to untitled fucking brand new always amazing
Does anyone have an mp3 version of this song?
please clean up the audio make and amazing video a spectacular video pleaseee
@MrHairymastadon That'd be awesome
Untitled!!!
It sounds a lot like Dramamine by Modest Mouse to me...
sounds like they're playing a different a cooler version of untitled
No, untitled has no lyrics, only a creepy voice saying something inaudible, I believe "I will never listen" This encore sounds like a weird version of Welcome to Bangkok
Is there anyway to rip the audio from this video that doesn't affect the audio too much?
65daysofbrandnew
I don't care if he can't spell. Clean it up and link the audio and he will be my hero.
seen them twice and both times i waited for an encore, and they didn't.
The fact of the matter is that bass and base are pronounced the same way, yet mean two different things, this guy claimed to be an audio engineer, I wouldn't trust it with him misspelling bass, usually because an adult should be able to type rather accurately.
was this at the armory?? i think i was at this show
I doubt that you can restore sound that distorted. You can't get the clarity from the instruments back. Try recording the audio on something else that can handle the volume next time. :)
yes if you mean if he's in the band, hes not THE BAND
what song is this?
@TheVociferousOne I want that!!!!!!
wow really got into that, but what's wrong with this guy at 7:25 ...wtf!? :D
song name?
This is how new songs are made
Nope, this is an old song. It is a really drawn out version of Untitled from TDAG
Because e is very easy to hit right after hitting s once instead of s a second time.
It’s 2021
why are there 2 drummers?
*Mangum
if you can get the "base" off a recording from a clipping camera microphone i will give you all of the money i have
The eagles are so prominent in their music, it's amazing.
Japalm7 I hate the eagles man
Or he might just be a foreigner whos first language isint english.
Is this noro
I mean e is on a completely different line then s is, sure its adjacent to it but it is in no way easier to hit e after typing s then it would be to just type s again. Stop trying to cover up nonsense
