Defense was the key this game. Time for people to respect that Oregon isn't all offense there's just as much defense. So under appreciated.

Dion jordan was good, but he was hurt a lot. Our offense in 2012 isn't even close to what it is now, we had a bunch of possession receivers. This year we have 5 stud play makers at the skill positions, all who have amazing speed.
Linebacker is honestly one of the less important positions on the field - it's a place where you can just reload. The fact that the D-line and DBs are better (much more important roles in college), and the offense is more wide open with great play from Mariota and the WRs, makes this year's team a better team.

2/2 The secondary is amazing and the D-line is playing better than last years line. The linebacker position is weaker, but that was to be expected after losing a 1st and 2nd rounder in the draft and Clay as well. But the offense is better than last years offense, the secondary is better, and the D-line is better. This team is better, not by a ton, but it is better.

As the highlights clearly show, this game was not even close. I would say Oregon dominated every part of the game.
Just to let you know I did guess the score on the ESPN forum for this game :)
They will be coming out later this week... had unforeseen family medical issues we are dealing with...
I don't think so, yes the secondary is the best in the country without a doubt. but our defensive line is not the same. After loosing a Dion Jordan 6'7 245Ibs with 4.5 speed is HUGE!!!, that was a guy who had exp. and got after QB's not many QB's can run away from him. Loosing Clay who by far my favorite LB was big also he had fundamentals that is hard to teach like tackling low and wrapping up. He took on Monte Ball in the Rosebowl, Spencer Ware form LSU ect. Now we have young guys stepping up.
He thinks it's a joke of a game because the Ducks make it look so easy. No one is going to give Oregon respect until they win the Natty this year.While all Oregon fans know this is by far the most talented team we appear to ever had, we still have a shadow of doubt whether our Ducks can handle Alabama. I'm pretty sure we can but until we do everyone is going to harken back to Oregon's losses under pressure when it counted and the fact we have never won a NC makes the doubters doubt.GO Ducks WTD.
Yes, "every position is important", but you can't deny that some positions are way more important than others. Bishop Sankey is one of the best running backs in the entire nation, and it still look him 28 carries to get those yards, mostly from one big 4th-down run.
A mediocre QB, or a mediocre line or either side, or mediocre CBs, are going to be a way bigger drop-off for your team than a mediocre LB.
BTW, this was a more impressive win by the Ducks against the Huskies who are a first-rate team that would easily take down a broken Georgia team, South Carolina, Florida, Oklahoma, and be competitive with Florida State, Ohio State, etc. More impressive then Alabama's win against A&M.
Every position is important and if you think otherwise your wrong. I can tell even this year not having Clay,Alonso were missing tackles not controlling our gaps and of course more then anything Experience. for example Bishop Sanky RB from Washington had a lot of big runs because our inexperience LB's aren't tackling well there doing enough to get by and not controlling there gaps and that's going to hurt when we play other spread option teams. And will tell if my theory is right real soon.
Yeah I'm so tired of hearing people say Marcus Mariota has huge numbers because of bubble screens and short passes. If you really look Marcus especially this year throws down field a lot.
I guessed 49-21, but I said "It will be 28-21 in the 3rd before the Ducks pull away late". If the Ducks hadn't sat on the ball at the end I would have looked almost psychic.
1/2 No way the 2012 team was better than this one. Obviously any team with Alonso, Jordan and Clay are going to be better, but this current team is better IMO than the 2012 team. The offense is better by a lot. Huff has finally come into his own and is legit #1 receiver. Addison has the experience now and is just as good as Huff. Lowe and Hawkins are solid weapons as well. DAT is an improved runner, and we lose nothing at RB with Marshal getting better and Tyner looking good.

It doesn't matter who's #1 or #2 because if you an either one of those spots where in the Natty, but as a fan it's way to early to be talking National Championship we have to focuse on one game at a time.
Well I see your point, and I agree with you for the most part. However, I do believe Missouri deserves their ranking. They beat Georgia, and Florida, and will beat South Carolina this weekend. My problem(mutual to yours) is that LSU and A&M are still ranked. And at that, above some undefeated teams. SEC Bias. And it's not just the SEC actually, Stanford over Miami, Clemson over TT, Oklahoma over Fresno. But the weirdest thing is LSU over VT....da fuq?
Oregon has won 2 Rose Bowls, 2 Fiesta, and 1 Cotton. 11 Conf. Titles, and 615 all-time wins. Which is pretty good. I respect Washington, and overall program is better than Oregon. But last 15 years, its not even close to who is better. Oregon is in Top 5 last 15 years in alltime wins.

But Dion missed some games last year, played hurt in others. Overall, with everyone else on the line getting another year of experience and some sophomores really showing growth, the D-line is better. Just look at the 4 sacks in this game, not to mention only 1 100-yard rusher so far.
When they are down on the goal line on 1st or 2nd and goal they need to use more playaction bootleg with the option to pass to the tightend dragging across. That would of scored a couple of times easily in this game instead of them having to go to 3rd and 4th & goal.

NO! not even, Oregon 2012 team was a lot better. If we didn't get so many players hurt twards then end of that season we would've gone to the natty. Michael Clay,Kiko Alonso,Dion Jordan are key players that were definatly missing. We had the best defense last year and our offense was really good.
Eh, they've got the D coach in Nick who probably already understands this LB situation and might get better over time. they've got capable recruits at that position in my opinion last year but USC stole one.
And remember Oregon did this without the Black Mamba, DeAnthony Thomas!

And Washington losing to Arizona State, is no different then Texas A&M losing to Auburn, or LSU losing to Ole Miss, or an injured Georgia winning by 1 field goal against Tennessee and blown out the following week. But all of those teams lost, and were able to keep their rankings? WTF? Washington State lost to Auburn by one touchdown, how the hell is Auburn #11? How is Missouri #5? I respect A&M, 'Bama, and LSU. The rest are over-ranked, and should not be in top20. Washington would shut them down

Yeah Oregon has no talent on defense, that's why so many consider this team to have one of the best secondaries in the nation. Oh yeah, and that DLine that dominated Tennessee's OLine, who a lot of people say is the best OLine in the defense, yeah nothing special on that Oregon defense. And you're totally right about Mariota, that 65 yard TD pass to Huff was an easy pass, anyone could make that pass.
Here's an idea, don't talk about things that you clearly know nothing about.
If it weren't for MadMike I would have stopped following Oregon Ducks football entirely. I can't afford cable. I'm sure I'm not alone either. I guess you could call me a free-loader fan, but it's probably better than being no fan at all. I really hate that these cable sports channels like FoxSports1 and Pac-12 Network have essentially gobbled up the majority of the Ducks' tv schedule thereby depriving everyone that doesn't have an expensive cable or satellite package from viewing their team.
Oregons track record of taking "3 star" recruits and turning them into premier athletes is unprecedented. Terrence Mitchell and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu are considered by many analysts as the best CB duo in the country. Both guys will be playing on Sundays, as have many Oregon DB's in the past. Your ignorance is laughable.
Also, you don't screen pass your way to 388 yards. Get over yourself

This was a joke of a game. Neither team had hardly anyone of value on defense. Also Mariotta is underwhelming compared to the hype. Screen passes from a system QB don't impress me. Just the overall talent level on the field is overrated with the exception of a few skill players who are undersized to say the least. Recruiting is important. You can't get a bunch of 3 star lineman/defensive players with 5 star skill players and expect to beat physicality. Oregon IS better than Ohio State though.
