    I havent seen trend micro enterprise in 2 years. But about 4 years ago they started improving drastically and this 2 year old version was great with ransomware (for the time) and network threats. It had an option to lock down endpoint network access upon infection, which was cool. The ability to turn off file sharing automatically when a network virus is found is great. Anyways in 2020 I'm sure this is still great.

      Honestly, not a good way to look at things. A lot of big businesses use Mcafee and Norton cause of contracts and partnerships. Doesn't mean they are the best options in anyway.

    The biggest issue I have with Trend micro it's annoying popups. sure you have mute mode. but it is only temporary unless you set to auto mute mode. but that only works on full screen. These trend micro popups are so annoying that I am thinking of using something else when my subscription is up.

    Thanks for this review Leo. I recently switched from Kaspersky Internet Security. I considered Bitdefender but I like being able to shut down my AV while i'm gaming to eke out a little extra performance and Trend Micro allows me to do that.

    Leo, I used to use Trend Micro going as far back as when it was PC-cillin. I switched to Dr. Web several years ago simply because of their online management console that lets me add and subtract computers at any time without having to pay for a whole year at a time and because they support Linux desktop very well at the consumer level without having to purchase a 'business' version. It's very convenient, and I really don't understand why other companies simply don't support the Linux desktop unless you're willing to purchase their business version at four or five times more in cost. As far as I know, there are only two companies that support Linux at the desktop level, which are Dr. Web and eScan. All other companies have discontinued Linux desktop support. Dr. Web was actually the one who discovered the first Linux virus. Anyway, with Dr. Web also being a Russian company, I fear that they, too, will be shut down for American users in the near future, so I may have to go back to Trend Micro at some point and just pay through the nose. It would be great if you could do an evaluation of Dr. Web Security Space while it's still available... and possibly eScan as well. Thanks for everything you do for us, Leo, to keep our computers safe.

    I bought Trend Internet Security last week and even though I’m always careful what i click, it found one suspicious file on my machine. It came up as a “virus’ but when I searched details about the file it was considered to be potentially harmful. Trend paid for itself within 5 minutes of installation. I was very lucky as I buy crypto on my PC. Lesson learned: NEVER skimp on Security. Trend is awesome

    Trendmicro’s product has been most famous product in our country(Japan) as a Virusbuster series.
    I know this product was suck since 2007-2015, for many reasons.
    However after I watched your review of this, I realized that its heuristic engine or behavior engine has been good in recent years.
    I remember that Avira AntiVir PE version 8 was best at heuristic in 2008, and almost other product was searching malwares by only huge database of malware without heuristic technology. (except for few products like NOD32 and KIS)
    Now I understand that many products have been had good engine of heuristic like this. I feel technically improving :)

      If you think every country isn't hacking each other trying to get an upper hand you're nuts. The reason Kaspersky likely has it is to add protection against the malware so it can't be used on any systems they provide protection for.

    Little disclaimer: i am asking the question in the comment section of this video hoping i can get a quick and good answer, however my question has nothing to do with the content of this video.
    I saw the videos about ransomware (especially petya and goldeneye) and it was said that while the fake "repairing screen" appears after the first reboot that is the state where the malware is encrypting files. So my question is: Can't this be stopped easily by just turning off Power at the PSU or plug the System out? And if that works, could you take out your drive, connect it to another, secure and not infected System (running Linux for example) and just save the files that are not encrypted yet? I would be very thankful for an detailed answer, becuase i think it may be not as easy as i imagine. I would really love it if someone responds, and sorry for my bad english :)

      Honestly, I am not a fan of the whole whitelisting only approach, cause remember the reason you need an AV is because you don't know what are the bad files to begin with. Think about the CCleaner incident. ;)

    • @seepeoplenotme
      @seepeoplenotme 7 лет назад

      I have tried using 2 Antivirus programs at the same time, I immediately regretted it 2 days after. Because antivirus scans your computer, the 2 programs will fight for who scans the fastest, it is really pointless in my opinion. This ultimately slows down your pic as it is busy allocating resources to both antivirus programs.
      So I do not recommend have more than 1 antivirus programs

    • @shaunzhang733
      @shaunzhang733 7 лет назад

      Antivirus software locks a file when the file is being scanned, and only allows access to that file if no threats were detected, if two antivirus software runs at the same time, one may attempt to lock the other up (even if you have one with real time protection disabled). Consequently, two antivirus software will cause conflict with each other.
