An amazing sound created by this beauty. Vox 12 string what a treat, a very special one of kind guitar with so much history it opens up some serious sixties tones that blend so well with vocals. It's orchestral tonality brings back so many great sounds of the sixties. Well done Lemmo/ Jen. Thanks for bringing this exquisite GOTD.
That sounds great! In the ‘60s I had a Vox Phantom XII-same neck, pickups, and hardware, different body shape, and solid rather than semi-hollow. Mine was tough to get in tune, and if I so much as looked at the vibrato it would go out of tune. It’s amazing to me that this Mark XII is stable! Sounds good too-my Phantom, being solid, wasn’t quite as resonant as this one is. This is the first time I’ve heard any sort of demo on the semi-hollow model-I wanted one in the ‘60s, but nobody had any. Rickenbacker 12s were impossible to find, as when a store would get one, it would sell right away. I probably didn’t try a Ric 12 until the ‘80s, and once I did, I was glad I never got one. Their necks are way too narrow for me. The old Vox actually had a pretty nice neck on it. Unfortunately it got stolen a year or so after I got it. A so-called “friend” of mine borrowed it and sold it out from under me, and gave me his Phillippine-made fake Fender Jaguar to cover it. I traded the fake Jag in on a Gibson SG Standard at the end of ‘67, as I was gigging most weekends and the Jaguar wasn’t cutting it.
Addendum: I currently have two electric 12-strings, a Danelectro DC-12 that I got new in 2000, and a 2019 Fender Electric XII, as I’d wanted one of those since 1965 when they came out. I only had to wait fifty years for Fender to reissue those!
Kinda waiting for 'Lady Jane' but when he said "got lost" that is what happens the twelve demands your playing attention, a bit of a struggle that pays off. Thanks Emmo, great again!
I have one in red; great Guitar! I had a tobacco Sunburst similar to this one as well, but I didn’t need two, and I prefer the translucent cherry red finish.
Back in the early ‘80s I had a friend in high school that had one of these. He didn’t even play guitar. None of us really knew what it was. Wouldn’t mind having one in my collection…
At 4:00, is Michael playing Wishbone Ash? It sounds like a re-imagining of the intro on acoustic guitar to "Time Was" from their 1972 album *Argus.* All this time, I've been convinced 12-string guitars were never equipped with a whammy bar. How did Vox do it, and how did they do it right?
They didn’t always do it right. When I was in high school in the ‘60s, I had a Vox Phantom XII with the same vibrato, that wouldn’t stay in tune for anything.
great sound out of that vox and the hands of Lemmo so as i sit here and think about uncle Norms collection of odd guitars i have noticed he is letting go of some pretty sweet guitars but i really wonder if he has those guitars that he holds close to his heart or home that he lets nobody touch or even see , he let all of us see the warehouse many times in videos but i gotta think there is more to it all
Both of those lawsuits are a major stretch in the protection of brand integrity. Both companies are wasting resources in efforts that aren't furthering their core business
Michael is on his way to bigger and better things. Way too good for this gig. We will see him elsewhere soon. How do I know you say? I’m a charter member of “Mikes of america”. We know things.
🎸 Vox Teardrop is Amazing , Sound so Clear , Every note sounds like river drops !!
It's looks like a mandoline by her form !
WOW what a magnificent instrument! So much subtle power in it! As always THANK YOU Michael for your wonderful demonstrations!

This Vox has a refreshing sound for a 12 string. Beautiful sounding instrument 👍🏻🎸🎸🎸❤️☮️
The same kind of guitar the intro to Killing Moon was played on, very cool.

Incredible sounding and looking teardrop. Looks brand new like it was in Norms vault for 50+ yrs.
WOW ..WHAT A PHENOMENAL INSTRUMENT.
Kinda waiting for 'Lady Jane' but when he said "got lost" that is what happens the twelve demands your playing attention, a bit of a struggle that pays off. Thanks Emmo, great again!
His name is Michael LEMMO
And he also didn’t struggle at all from what I saw’ and I’m also someone who loves 12 strings’ but they do have a time and a place ✌️
That Vox is fantastic ... sounds so psychedelic!
every studio should have one of these available to rent.
I did NOT expect that to sound that great. Thanks for that. Nice demo.
Me too. At first glance I wasn't a fan, but that sound is massive.
Lemmo makes every guitar sound incredible
@@Simonogilvie41 He's a very good player, for sure.
New camera? Not sure why, but this seems like, visually, one of the best looking GOTDs…nice framing Jen. Nice nostalgic sounds out of that one
Always interested in these vox teardrops. very different and innovative design
name of the last song? sounds beautiful 5:36
I was also wondering this!
That was amazing Lemmo ! Such a cool guitar !! Thanks Jen !!
Oh. My. God. That sounds freaking amazing. I had no idea that Vox ever made guitars. It’s weird looking, but damn that tone makes it worth it
Holy cow...What a beauty! She rings for days...
Love the sound, especially the neck pickup.
...Wow. Mesmerizing sound.
I have one in red; great Guitar! I had a tobacco Sunburst similar to this one as well, but I didn’t need two, and I prefer the translucent cherry red finish.
Wow! Inspiring sounding guitar! 😎
Could see ML on stage with that Vox. Room filling sound, terrific.
Lovely playing. Anyone know the name of these tunes or were they all spur of the moment??
Back in the early ‘80s I had a friend in high school that had one of these. He didn’t even play guitar. None of us really knew what it was. Wouldn’t mind having one in my collection…
12-strings can sound a bit too "chimey" to me, but this little guy had a surprising low end to balance out that chimey sound
Really nice tone- different than a 12 string Rickenbacker 330 or 360/12, more mellow or mandolin like to my ear. Very nice, thank you!
Wow. Trippy dude!
Another take with Mr. Tambourine Man, PLEASE!!! I'm sure those were Rick's, but still would sound great. Well done!
The sound of the Killing Moon
Good unique sound
Will sergeant from echo and the bunnymen has one that he bought from Denmark street London its on the killing moon
I used to have those same crackle green pumas
would love to hear some songs by felt on one of these beauties
Mike Jones, the younger brother of Brian Jones ~~ Cool guitar, ***** PEACE
Now that's a thing to get lost in for hours.

Supersound Superplayer!!!

That neck position would actually be so useful
Both of those lawsuits are a major stretch in the protection of brand integrity. Both companies are wasting resources in efforts that aren't furthering their core business
Made in Italy it's a beauty, an EKO . Most likely a '66 sn#309×××
Bring back the Jen woo!
What’s the last tune ?
Yes...Close to Edge album
iconic guitar, I wouldn't want to tune the sucker though.
Beautiful playing as always, Lemmo.
I'm pretty sure Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys used this one live
Plim Souls or Birds ?
Ric’s catching strays in a bunch of videos from Norm’s lately 😂😂 I swear Lemmo mispronounces the name on purpose at this point
Jen sounded sad at the end there
It’s with a heavy heart…
VERY COOL THINGAMAJIG THING
IF I STILL PLAYED GUITAR I WOULD CERTAINLY GO OUT AND BUY IT
NICE DEMMO LEMMO
CARLOS GUITARLOS 90042 USA
Michael is on his way to bigger and better things. Way too good for this gig. We will see him elsewhere soon. How do I know you say? I’m a charter member of “Mikes of america”. We know things.
Maybe I’m just used to the jangly Rick 12 tone…
👍✌❤😎
camera focus ?
Lemmo, Elmo ?
Lemmo if you make a compilation of all your straight demos of just play time with an intro to each with the guitar name I will buy it.😂
Man I wonder if George Harrison had one of these?
Jen we’re missing ya! Lemmo is getting boring! LOL
I think that's a new camera woman. Doesn't sound like Jen at all. Also doesnt say Jen's signature "by-yeeeeee."
That would be a copyright violation! Only Jen....
Jen just had a baby.
Stays in tune …….but doesn’t stay on your knee
Is that Jen filming? Doesn’t sound like her. Hope she’s okay.
Not Jen. She’s on maternity leave.
Wacky guitars appeal to me. Think of them as multi-grain bread.
