The reason she dresses like that is because her sister (the girl in the robe next to her) was assualted when they got teleported and can't even look at most men. So she dresses in a way to bring the attnetion to her instead.

There's only 3 people who can Speak without Telepathy in Roxy's village.
The village Elder because they need to negotiate with other races.
And Roxy's parents because they had to learn because Roxy couldn't use telepathy.

Man, I really love Roxy's background, it always gets me. Roxy being unable to communicate telepathically is the equivalent of being born unable to hear in her community, so her parents had to learn how to speak, read and write so they could communicate with Roxy, that's also why her mother said she was sorry and it was her fault, as her mother she felt it was her fault her daughter was born with the equivalent of a disability.
They credited arc system because of old Rudy flashback was playing guilty gear an arc system classic
8:10 the reason paul looks shocked because geese (paul's friend) actually helping him find his family
Geese, Paul’s friend is helping him find the other survivors of the incident. That’s why he also recommended Paul to check the guild to find Rudy, before he knew they ran into each other of course. That explains geese and Paul’s dialogue at the end
I could be wrong but I think it was with the nuance that Paul wasn't aware Geese had already been looking for them, so Paul was really grateful to Geese in that moment. Then it also motivated him.

Paul's VA definitely knocked it out the park with that crying scene.
Paul wasn't expecting for his teammates helping him because of what he did in the past, Paul quite a scumbag back then but not entirely bad person. So he thought his team mates will never helped him because of that and wrote that sentence in the guild letter "you probably won't forgive me" or something, but his team mates actually care for him despite not having a very good opinion on him.
That's why he didn't expect Geese actually helped him find his family, the look that Geese give is something like "You think I wouldn't help you? C'mon man" XD
And this is why so many people enjoyed the show because everything besides Rudy being a creep at times. Its really good
“I don’t get it.” It was confirmation that Geese has been searching for Paul’s family in places no one has been searching, that he got captured in the forrest on purpose, recognized Rudeus, and guided him to the city, telling him to visit the guild in a day, then finding Paul and telling him to go there as well so that they would run into each other (before then also needing to give him that advice), and now he is going out to another place no one has checked again. Geese is the MVP. Honorary mention to the bartender for noticing Rudy was not looking up at all and suggesting he look at Paul while he was talking. I love this episode.
As a side note, when Ghislaine talked about the party she and Paul where in, one of the silhouettes looked exactly like Geese. Whether or not his party liked him or not (the elf and dwarf did not), they are all helping search for Paul’s family.

There's some stuff that's left out of the novel that explains some stuff:
- For example, the girl using the revealing outfit uses it all the time to gather all men's attention, to protect her sister (the girl with the long tunic seen at the background sometimes). Her sister was also a slave and suffered quite a lot of abuse, leaving her traumatized, to the point where she can't bear having men staring at her even in the most innocent ways; so her sister uses that putfit in order to keep all the stares solely on her and make her sister feel at ease.
8:10 LOL and both casually sip their drink after that. With mel probably sweating. 😅 tbf I look around the screen a lot. Just making observations...
Also I love this episode as well. I think it's the first time rudy realizes how his family or THIS family is real and that he loves them.
I love that you guys made it through the gag part of the show, and are now getting into the real backbone. From this point on, the show has a lot of social, and moral aspects to touch on. Which, will either make you question yourself, or just be something deeply relatable.
I'm so glad you gave this show a second chance. I was really hoping you, at least, reach these two episodes since you are parents. These types of episodes really show how good the storytelling is in this series! Hopefully you enjoy the rest of season 1!
I feel like Paul has been striking out for a year and a half when it comes to news of his family, despite tapping every resource available to him to try and find them. His hope that his genius, mature, incredibly talented son would be ok turned into an expectation that where Paul failed Rudy would definitely succeed. He had to realize that his assumption was just something that he fabricated, and to take the situation for what it is and be happy that this small yet significant reunion was an incredibly good outcome.
7:36 they dont go over it in the anime but the girl in skimpy armor is Vierra she and her sister Shierra were caught by bandits when they teleported and you can guess what happened to them. Vierra got over the trauma but her sister doesnt, Shierra gets panic attacks when males look at her. Thats why she dresses the way she does so all the male gaze is on her.

In the book, there is actually some POV sections for Paul there. Everytime he was sober and awake, his morbid curiosity would come out because he was so lonely without his whole family.
"I wonder if they died?"
"I wonder how they died?"
"I wonder how their corpses look?"
And it'd make him feel disgusted and ashamed with himself, so he turned to drinking, because that would at least stop him from thinking those thoughts.

That girl wearing a bikini is doing it for her little sister. Her sister developed a fear of men after some abused her after the teleportation and she's wearing that to make all the men not look at her. So it's a pretty sad reason🥲

Is there an audio issue for anyone else or is it just me?
This episode is the first time Rudy refers to Paul as "father" in his inner monologue. Before it was always Paul and Zenith or something sarcastic (like he called him Senor once)
It was also the first time he cries in front of his father. Even when he was born he didn't cry. He only cried once before that and he was alone. Everything he cries it is such an ugly cry it is supposed to hurt. Rudy has never acted human in front of his dad and this was the first he did so and it means a lot.

If it's not obvious by now, yeah, Mushoku Tensei is pretty much about Family and Growth. These will be the two themes that will be the centerpiece of the entire series, all 24 volumes of em.
Because of the clips from the fighting game Guilty Gear, that fighting game company is mentioned in the credits.
Arc System Works was credited because of the Guilty Gear game that Rudy and his friend was playing during his flash back

No. The only 3 people in the entire village who can use spoken language is the chief (he needs to communicate with the rest of the world) and her parents.
The reason her parents have a spoken language is that learned it *just* so they could speak with their daughter.

Roxy didn't believe her parents would miss her. She left thinking she was a disappointment to her parents, like an angry young teenager
The simultaneous water drink is hilarious
Eris has a black eye because Ruijerd now views Eris as an adult since she bested him in combat (meaning that she is now a warrior, not a child). Thus, he won't pull any punches now when trying to calm her down or correcting her when she does something dumb.
Lol...Those remarks at the 8 minute mark and then both of you taking a sip of water. I see a short clip incoming.
Some missing bits of info:
- Vierra and Shierra were teleported to a bandits camp where "very bad things" were done to them. One of them was able to recover but another ended traumatized and just getting seen by men would freak her out, so that's why the sister uses the "bikini armor" to draw gaze to her and not her sister.
- Geese acted like he was wandering around but in reality he was scouting the continents to find Paul's family, Geese used to be in Paul's Team in the past.
- Not everyone in Migurd uses the spoken language, only a few, like the chief and Roxy's parents who had to learn to communicate with Roxy, if you notice, the chief was more fluent in the language than Roxy's parent's who hadn't used it in 20 years. Roxy is the equivalent of a deaf girl to the village. Everyone else only uses telepatic communication.
Arc Sys Works is in the credits because of the scene with Rudy in his past life playing Guilty Gear with his bud LMAO
that's all, they needed credit for the gameplay in the anime 😂😂
Honestly, Rudy being a creep feeds into the more serious moments. MCs arent always supposed to be squeaky clean good guys. Its far more interesting when the protag has room to grow as a person.

So for Roxy's villagers, all can communicate by telepathy except Roxy. Only Roxy's parents, the Chief, and maybe 1 or 2 others have learned ANY kind of verbal language. So Roxy coule speak out loud to them but no one who doesn't recognize her would be able to understand a word she said.
They see her hair and expect her to hear their telepathy
She is basically a deaf child. You know how scary it is and how hard it is on the parents to have a deaf child. The parents had to learn how to talk out loud. Nobody else speaks in that village. Roxy can't play with anyone others see her as weird. It is sad.
WIth all the little icks this anime has had these episodes kinda make up for it. Just keeps getting better too.

Rudy didn’t have it easy either!! He had to direct and manage both Eris and Ruijerd protecting both of them, in Ruijerd’s reputation, which secured them Ruijerd’s protection, and Eris physical safety.
While both of them were very capable i doubt they would have had as much success due to Ruijerd’s and Eris’ personalities.
Something the Rudy messed up on was downplaying the difficulty of his experience. Which made Paul respect his struggle less.
i enjoy watching the reactions, but i wish they would stop putting the major spoilers of the episode in the titles.

I will always Stan Eris on episode 16&17. She is such a ride or die lady I love her for it. She was ready to beat the dogshit out of Paul for hurting her mans. you need people in your life like that.
