@@rodcaskey1490: the problem with Tork is between his ears. From the interviews of him I've seen, he's too stubborn to try to overhaul his swing, quoting "there's nothing wrong with my swing. My swing is what got me here" Well, Tork..I. you're playing with the big boys now... time to change something!
Great signing? Can I ask you a question? If replacing Torkelson was the goal, why not sign or trade for an experienced 1st baseman, right handed, and leave Keith at second? Instead, you signed a 2nd baseman who was the WORST defensive 2nd baseman in all of baseball last year, and moved Keith to a position he has never played on a professional level. That's improvement? This was all about making a promise to fans to strengthen the team from the right side, not knowing that the owner won't invest any money in the team. So we signed a player that nobody else wanted trying to catch lightening in a bottle.
@@davidfigurski636 Well, I'm not a MLB general manager, but signing a guy of Torres's pedigree for just one year gives them an option to trade him at the trade deadline, if he does well but the team doesn't, or it gives them an extra player to help them with the playoff push, it seems like a win/win to me.
I feel this move is kind of replacing Tork with Gleyber and it is too early for that. I believe Tork has more potential still and that is being wasted as this move is likely to permanently screw him up
It was a young, athletic, unselfish group that made that unicorn playoff run last year, Scott (thanks, Al Avila!). It’d be nice if you could make some significant contributions to the roster. Maybe next year?
This will never happen, because Chris Ilitch is not serious about making the financial commitments that it takes to operate a consistently good MLB team. Skubal's gone in two years, he will never stay here, so you better look to move him while the getting's good.
Horseshit. Quit lying to your fans, Scott. Hard to believe that he was offered multiple multi - year deals, and then jumped to the Tigers on a one-year deal. Nobody else wanted him, which is why he accepted a one year deal. You preach defense, and then bring in the worst defensive 2nd baseman in baseball, and move a player to 1st base who has never played it at the professional level. You move Torkelson out of the picture, which is your right, but continue to preach to us that a guy with an OPS that was among the worst in MLB history will be given another opportunity to be our shortstop, simply because of his contract. This was a move made because the owner refuses to spend at the level of other major league teams, and will not buy out his mistakes from the previous regime. So disappointing after last year.
We do not need Bregman!! .260 ave 75 RBI 26 HR Verling .257 Ave 80 RBI 16 HR and hitting more hrs every year. Much less cost and no risk of tied to a bad long term contract. Javy hangover...........my head still hurts for another 3 years.
I agree 100% A team like the Tigers cannot be the Dodgers or Yanks where a bad multi-year deal is just counted as a small blunder. A bad multi-year deal can be crippling to Detroit. We have seen it too many times and those deals have cost us plenty of above .500 seasons.
Man not happy at all about this especially tanking on Tork he's going to break out this year ownership is selling the fans a bunch of crap he just won't spend to improve this team don't care about the fans just wants to make more money period.
What an awful idea. He will be terrible. Javy and Torres... I couldn't make up a worse double play combo. Ilitch doesn't want to win, just wants to keep being a billionaire. Sad
What? His defense isn't so bad that it's a hindrance, and the pop that he adds is huge, specifically from the right side and vs lefties... and it's a 1 year prove it deal. This doesn't take Bregman out of the convo, this doesn't take any other signings off the table except at 1st base and a DH only vet...
It’s a one year contract. If he sucks they can trade him at the deadline. And defense is actually the one thing that Javy is good at, so the comparison there just doesn’t make much sense.
@@MK22DeTand colt is a good defender? Gleyber isn’t here for his glove. He’s here for his bat which is what we need and it’s only one year. There is only reward with this type of deal. No risk
I'm 81. I've seen two World Series since becoming a fan in the 50s. I think people have a right to be negative. Put a good product on the field and watch three million pass through the turnstiles, keep up this dumpster diving, and watch a lot of empty seats continue. With this addition, the average I.Q. of the team has sunk to new depths.
I think Tork can figure it out and be the DH that we need. Im really rooting for him still, I know he can figure it out. The skill is there
He also played 3B for a while. So when we get hit with injuries…
I don’t know that he will be able to figure it out. For his sake I hope he does but there is something going on where he is not improving.

I think Tork is more about want than the skill piece. Money, Marriage can make a guy go soft.
Still a lot more questions need to be answered.
We Want Bregman!
We still need Alex Bregman as part of our infield and Kirby Yates in our bullpen.
I was not happy to hear torres got signed, but after hearing harris talk about him, i feel better. Way to go scott!
I can’t imagine anyone being reassured by listening to this bullshit artist. I’m glad for you, though.
Go Tigers!!! Great signing!

Like to see sign Kim for 3rd base not Bregman a Boras client.

He is a 2 time all-star
オールスターに2度も?それは素晴らしい選手ですね。来年が楽しみです

@ and they are one of the front runners for the top remaining free agent. Don’t judge the offseason until it’s over
Wasted a killer free agent class so far. They’re just cheap. They couldn’t score last year. Need two legit power bats and a #2 starter
Dump Tork, get Bregman, cut Baez loose
AWESOME JOB Bossman Harris. :D
