Being surprised at how high the scores are really shows how used to the 8 out of 10 cats one I am
they also play several more rounds on Countdown, no real time for vamping.
It’s not funny at all
8 out of 10 cats spend the first 15-20 minutes on jokes (otherwise what's the point of bringing comedians). so the actual countdown game is shorter.
@@blaze4111 you're right. If not for that, I'm sure the scores would be about the same
@@jamie6669 well, depends, i doubt joe's scores would've changed much even with an extra hour =P
The obligatory "taking a sip of water so everybody knows I've got it".
I swear I’ve seen you comment this on every countdown video I’ve seen 😭
@@Sophie-xb4hr I've definitely said it on another video. Just proves my point I guess that they always do it.

Jimmy Carr: So Roisin, did you get it?
Roisin: I didn't get it
That thought occurred to me as well.
Raisin: 10.
Well, Jimmy... I don't want to let you down, Sean, but...
Put it all together and it spells run
I was thinking the episode with Catherine Tate where the target was 101.
What's even more hilarious is the fact that 8, 2, 7, and 3 were all in play.
8 + 2 = 10
7 + 3 = 10
Also, 8*7-2*3=50
(50/10)*(8+2)*(7+3)
[(8+2)-(7+3)+10]*50
Haha yes I was just thinking I would have a right play around with those particular numbers before giving the answer. While the clock was running, rather than sitting there looking awkward like these two, I would have been pretending to scribble out numerous equations, tossing screwed up paper while looking deeply stressed and under pressure scratching my head. And then maybe tell her the closest I could get was 502.
I think the more obvious solution is (8-7)(3-2)(10)(50)
Kathrine Tate: You’re saying it like it’s obvious
Ah... So it can be done.

I love how Rachel just got flustered and annoyed that it was easy.
When you know arithmetic at that level, that's a genuine and valid feeling.
Is she easy?
i mean, yeah, it was a wasted round, both got the same amount of points they might as well hasn't done it at all.
@@danielrobinson2861 no.
For anyone decent at arithmetic, rounds this easy are a pity. The point of this game is to challenge your brain
This round would’ve been hilarious on 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown
Joe “DON’T YOU DARE!!!”
I think on 8OOTC they would have respun the target
Roisin would of still got it wrong! 😂

You obviously missed the legendary “JIMSAVILE” letter game.
also i forgot how dead the audience on countdown are, their lack of laughter made this even more painful
"Actually I did something quite different you see?
I took the 10 and multiplied that by the 50.
Completely different. Obviously"
Amazing how those numbers fell to give you the option to make the 10, either 10, 8+2, 3+7, it really wanted to make sure you didn’t miss the 10 😁
And if you still missed those, here’s and extra just in case 8+3+7+2-10=10 😁
8 + 2 = 10
7 + 3 = 10
10 / 10 = 1
1 x 50 = 50
50 x 10 = 500
Not much point in doing that though when you have both the 10 and 50. Still, good method and it would work.
The Joke

+Nicholas Garcia I agree with the others. There are 10 and 50, the others will cancel out each other by simple addition and subtraction. But that's certainly another way of doing it.

3 times 2 = 6
56 - 6 = 50 times 10 = 500

This is called click bait.. Unfortunately i fell for it too
@Adam .Croft
Same here
I love their reactions during the 30 seconds 😂😂😂
That was a lot more wholesome than expected
It gets even better when you realise the other four numbers (8, 3, 7 and 2) also form two sets of ten by addition: 8+2, 7+3; so there were three easy ways to do 50*10.
I got:
((2-(7+3)+8)+10)x50
Pretty complicated but got there in the end
I did 7+3... Then panicked for 24 seconds, and with 3 seconds to spare, I realised you could times it by 50. Tricky one though 😂😂😂
I would have been tempted if I had a big enough lead to say "no too far away". Just to hear the audiences reaction.
I got one away.
Knap- dalf me too:
(50x10)-(3-2)=499,
So close, maybe I'll get it next time.
I’m confused why Rachel didn’t just press the button again, this is what Carol used to do if it was clearly too easy.
I think there's stricter rules that the game has to go on. Otherwise this was too pointless
Did she though? I've seen a clip from when the late Des O'Connor was the host, and the two largest numbers and target in this video were in that round.
That's happened on the 8 out of 10 cats version, but I doubt it'd happen on the regular show.
Probably one of the only numbers rounds where you can use all the numbers if you really wanted to
Sorry but how did they do this in 30 seconds?
Damn they’re geniuses

@@matthewdockray9745 not everyone is smart as these people it isn't easy I wouldn't do that in 30 seconds
Daniel Kerr it’s literally 50x10 though
well, you take the 50, and you multiply it by the 10...
I found a much more simple way..
50x10 = 500
500 x8 = 4000
3-2= 1
1+7 = 8
4000/8 = 500
More simple, happy were on the numbers round.
I can’t stand when they take a drink during the countdown just to emphasise that they’ve completed with ample time.
As if Rachel Riley was on Countdown 10+ years ago. This makes me feel old and I'm only 25! Time goes so fast
I did (3×7×2) +8 to get my 50 then multiplied by the 10. Much easier way I think.
They both look so nervous. I bet they were worried they had messed up such an easy calculation :D
Beetlejuice: I think it’s a uhhh a carrot
The dead banter when they say they 'think' they have got the target or had 1 second to spare lol
Bonus points for using all the numbers to get there.
8 + 2 - 7 - 3 + (5 x 10)
8-7 and 3-2 both equal 1, then you multiply everything.
haha, I like the 8 out of 10 cats version, when it is too easy, Rachel just represses the number. One time she had to do four different times to get a difficult number.
Except went Catherine Tate is there and it’s 101 haha
If I was a contestant that day I'd have been so tempted to get it wrong just for the lulz.
Its amazing that there was also 7 and 3 and 8 and 2 to make 10! But I thought this was a blooper was expecting one to get it wrong
"Well, the best of luck to you!"
Here's the best place to say "500, not written down" - as it's so trivial, you wouldn't write down 50 x 10 = 500.
i got it with a second to spare
i thought if it was to easy like that they would press the button again to re roll the numbers, ive seen Carol do it before
That would make the whole game defunct.
She’s done it on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown, totally different show haha
@@jordanb966 Carol didn't do it on 8 out of 10 as she wasn't on it, but Rachel has done it several times on that show.
@@Mr.M1STER explain how pressing the button again when it's so easy you get it before the clock even starts? Or are you just spouting absolute bs?
@@MrBaronCabron I mean it makes it defunct in that there is a degree of chance in the game and changing a very easy round for a more difficult round will benefit the player who is behind in the score.
The best part is that there's not just one trivially easy solution, there's 3 trivially easy solutions. This wouldn't need a particularly bright 5th grade student if you took away the 10.
4 even. If you *really* wanted to you could do (7+3+10)/2*50
Man Rachel's mind... How she sees the number and immediately knows how to do it. Like what?!
I am so bad at maths, I couldn't even get it with unlimited time. So this seems crazy to me. 😂😭
I always say she should just sit down, open up a can of lager and take a pull off it to show she can't be arsed.
not really a "Blooper" if the numbers are chosen at random.... plus I've seen an episode where they thought it was "too easy" so pressed the button again...

she said take the 100 and i'm 1 away :D
One time on the 8OU10 version, one of the numbers was 100, and the target was also 100.
Only because I couldn't see this way in the comments and didn't want to use the big 50:
7*3=21
21*2=42
42+8=50
50*10=500
50 / (7-2) = 10. 10 * (8-3) = 50. 50 * 10 = 500
I usually try to use all the numbers for no reason, so I'd go
(7+3)-(8+2)+(50x10) then I'd be really pleased with myself :P
I thought they had to use all the numbers. Maybe I am confused with numberwang
What about (((8*7)-(3-2))*10)-50=500?
What about ((8+2)/(7+3)) x 10 x 50 = 500?
or 7+3=10 and 8+2 is 10, multiply them to make 100, then 50/10 is 5 and multiply them together to get 500
or (8-7) x (3-2) x 10 x 50 = 500
I recommend this video for beginners that are new to the countdown scene.
Best part about this is the camera focusing on their faces as they try to not look awkward as they sit there

I would've just done
7+3=10 -(8+2)= 0
50x10=500
Boom used all the numbers
Massive missed trolling opportunity there. In that 30 seconds, they could easily (because I could) have come up with: 7-2=5, divide the 50 by that to make 10, 8-3 to give you 5 and then multiply both by the 10. ;)
Hang on ! Don't rush me, I'm nearly there
I've watch too much cats does countdown that I was expecting them to be funny.....no even slightly
8 out of 10 cats doing countdown is absolute shit.
It would have been a good one off, bit there's only so many jokes you can get out of it.
@@sandersson2813 yea, you're definitely wrong..
@@7Sean7 Well, it's all opinion. I don't think someone making a joke about a word that isn't a word or picking three numbers which are the same numerals as the numbers game is funny.

@@sandersson2813 You're acting like the entire show is strictly jokes that are directly about the format itself when that couldn't be further from the truth- most of the humour comes from the mascot round, the Joe Wilkinson segments, any "bonus rounds" they end up doing, and the conversations between the comedians

There was a 700 game. With 7 and 100. Surely that takes the trophy.
Same thing really
All you needed to do was take the 7 and multiply it by 100…
8 + 2 = 10
7 + 3 = 10
(10 / 10) * 10 = 10
50 * 10 = 500

((8+2)*10=100 ((50*100)=5000÷(7+3))
I've mostly seen Countown from the 8 out 10 cats clips on youtube. I always thought the rule was you had to all 6 numbers to get the total. I learned somethng new today.
This is brilliant😎😩😂😍🙌🏻
The best bit is at 0:38 when the guy shakes his head to look like he's really struggling just to mock it's ease.
Me, an intellectual:
50 x 8 = 400
7+3 = 10
10x10=100
400+100= 500
About a second to spare, this one was quite hard
You don't have to use all the numbers 8+2×50=500
7+3×50
10×50
You can even do it using ALL the numbers. 🤣
Lucky this wasn't on 8 out of 10 Cats, a real conundrum for some of them
Poor old Rachel. She’s gagging for a hard one.
You could add rules giving extra points when contestants use more of the numbers. Then the contestants would have to spot (something like) 50 * (8 + 2 - 10 + 7 + 3) making it more of a challenge.
7+3 = 10, 8+2 = 10, divide with each other, you get 1. Multiply by 10 and multiply by 50. Result.
(50+8+2-7-3)×10
This number game came up quite recently on tv, later episode but same target and a 50 and a 10
After seeing the numbers, I found probably the hardest way to reach the solution, using all 6 numbers: 50 * (10 + 3 + 7 - 8 - 2) = 500
Easy.
50 8 3 7 2 10
8+2=10
10×10=100
7+3=10
50÷10= 5
100×5= 500
Or 50×10
50 x 10 = 500
(3 + 7) - (8 + 2) = 0
500 + 0 = 500
Just popped up in my feed … can’t believe Rachael Riley has been on it that long.
You take the 50 and you multiply by 10,
50 x 10 = 500,
You do the hokey cokey and you turn around,
That's what it's all about! :D
They should’ve tried solving it a different way at least...
8 - 3 = 5
5 x 50 = 250
250 x 2 = 500
would roisin have got this?
I remember seeing once a target of 400, with the numbers including 4 and 100
they once had a target of 700, two of the numbers being 7 and 100...
“Well the best of luck to you”
'Most simple' or 'simplest'. But not 'most simplest'.
Sorry - you did ask for a comment :-)
(8+2)/10 = 1.
1*50 = 50.
(7+3)*50 = 500
i also got 500 .. damn
Yeah, 50 x 10 = 500 :)
8-3=5
5*50=250
250*2=500
Not the most complicated but still amused me for a bit
8+2=10
Add that to the given 10, giving 20. Subtract 7 and subtract 3, giving 10. Then multiply by the 50, giving 500. If you want to use all the numbers. :)
(50 + 3 + 7) * 8 + 2 * 10. I'm sure that's how most would do it, though...
(7+3) = 10
(8+2) = 10
10-10+10=10
50 x 10 = 500
Or 10 x 10/10=10
The only one that Jeff Stelling ever got right.
Finally a sum I can actually work out 😂
((7*8)+2-3)*10-50
David Liebermann nope...
David Liebermann jk :)
((8+2)*10=100 ((50*100)=5000÷(7+3))
50+8+3+7+2+10=500
In the time I worked out a way to do it with all the numbers! If anyone cares it's 8+2&7+3 so you've got 3 10s then add 2 together and minus the 3rd one before timesing by 50!
3+7x50 or 2+8x50 or 10x50... this is like the perfect storm
((8+7)*3*10)+50=500
God such a complex method. They could just have done:
8 + 2 = 10
10 * 10 = 100
100 * 50 = 5000
3 + 7 = 10
5000 / 10 = 500
I don't know what all the fuss is about honest
Bet Rahil wishes he’d said ‘start with 8 + 2. Then 7+3 is 10, 10 x 10 x 50 = 5000. Divide that by the 10 for 500’.
I suppose the numbers game could be made a tad trickier if the host said you have to use all the numbers in some way.
7-2=5
5×10=50
50+50=100
8-3=5
5×100=500
Thats if you wanted to use all the numbers
I would've done 7+3=10+10=20/2=10x50=500
No, you wouldn't have.
The 200iq play would be to do 50x10+8-7+3-2 to use all the numbers and get double points
It would have been embarrassing to get that wrong 😂
