Can anyone explain why nobody on the news is covering Virginia? The only place that I have seen Virginia even mention is on this channel. I hope those people are OK
Honest to god Damascus was really the only place to receive this damage. The other areas got heavy rain and power outages, but all the damage was moved further west into tn and North Carolina. I live maybe 20 min from Damascus and if you don’t live there you aren’t allowed to go into town at all + 7-7 curfew. I don’t know 100% everything, but this storm took an extreme toll on the mountainous regions more. We haven’t had a proper rain in a bit so the ground was good and dry, torrential downpour came through and the ground, rivers and lake just couldn’t hold everything up in time.
It's impossible for the news to cover every single small town that got hit, the storm left a 500 mile path of destruction. I'm from Abingdon, but live in NC now, so I pay extra attention to news from home. There are lots of small towns in NC that got wrecked that aren't making the wider news also. There is no conspiracy or intent to neglect VA or any other area. There's just so much damage that words fail.
Draper, Hiwassee, Allisonia, Wytheville, Narrows, Pembroke, etc. Are just as devastated in VA.. i grew up in draper and all along the river many homes are destroyed or completely gone washed away with the river, roads and bridges tore up, businesses devastated by the flood, and my neighbors have lost everhthing.. Claytor lake in Dublin has 22acres of debris they are trying to clean up.. the new river in the area i grew up all the way from draper to Radford VA crested at 34ft, and theres many other places/people in VA that are also suffering as damascus is.. its sad that they dont cover them all on their broadcasting.
