Honest to god Damascus was really the only place to receive this damage. The other areas got heavy rain and power outages, but all the damage was moved further west into tn and North Carolina.
I live maybe 20 min from Damascus and if you don’t live there you aren’t allowed to go into town at all + 7-7 curfew.
I don’t know 100% everything, but this storm took an extreme toll on the mountainous regions more. We haven’t had a proper rain in a bit so the ground was good and dry, torrential downpour came through and the ground, rivers and lake just couldn’t hold everything up in time.

It's impossible for the news to cover every single small town that got hit, the storm left a 500 mile path of destruction. I'm from Abingdon, but live in NC now, so I pay extra attention to news from home. There are lots of small towns in NC that got wrecked that aren't making the wider news also.
There is no conspiracy or intent to neglect VA or any other area. There's just so much damage that words fail.

Draper, Hiwassee, Allisonia, Wytheville, Narrows, Pembroke, etc. Are just as devastated in VA.. i grew up in draper and all along the river many homes are destroyed or completely gone washed away with the river, roads and bridges tore up, businesses devastated by the flood, and my neighbors have lost everhthing.. Claytor lake in Dublin has 22acres of debris they are trying to clean up.. the new river in the area i grew up all the way from draper to Radford VA crested at 34ft, and theres many other places/people in VA that are also suffering as damascus is.. its sad that they dont cover them all on their broadcasting.

1 to 2 feet of rain in such a short amount of time he just kept swelling Georgia, South Carolina,Tennessee, North Carolina,Virginia and West Virginia leaving no place for the water to go. The dam’s started to overflow just flooding. Maybe somebody a long line could’ve let water out of the damn making the problem even worse. Who knows🤷‍♀ again with that amount of water the ground can’t absorb it so it just starts to run down and make everything muddy. Then storm drains start to back up and don’t drain water. After it pressed the dams it was moving very fast. The people we’re not given all the information on the storm so nothing was done in advance to prepare for such an amount of rainfall that fast I just left everybody in a very bad position. Just before the hurricane made landfall in Florida it really picked up speed for some reason. Drones had it at a cat five.
As it traveled it was also picking up water.

ٰ[5:109] In the day when Allah gathereth together the messengers, and saith: What was your response (from mankind) ? they say: We have no knowledge. Lo! Thou, only Thou art the Knower of Things Hidden,
    [5:110]
    When Allah saith: O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My favour unto thee and unto thy mother; how I strengthened thee with the holy Spirit, so that thou spakest unto mankind in the cradle as in maturity; and how I taught thee the Scripture and Wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and how thou didst shape of clay as it were the likeness of a bird by My permission, and didst blow upon it and it was a bird by My permission, and thou didst heal him who was born blind and the leper by My permission; and how thou didst raise the dead by My permission; and how I restrained the Children of Israel from (harming) thee when thou camest unto them with clear proofs, and those of them who disbelieved exclaimed: This is naught else than mere magic;
    [5:111]
And when I inspired the disciples, (saying): Believe in Me and in My messenger, they said: We believe. Bear witness that we have surrendered (unto Thee) "we are muslims".
    [5:112]
When the disciples said: O Jesus, son of Mary! Is thy Lord able to send down for us a table spread with food from heaven ? He said: Observe your duty to Allah, if ye are true believers.
    [5:113]
(They said:) We wish to eat thereof, that we may satisfy our hearts and know that thou hast spoken truth to us, and that thereof we may be witnesses.
    [5:114]
Jesus, son of Mary, said: O Allah, Lord of us! Send down for us a table spread with food from heaven, that it may be a feast for us, for the first of us and for the last of us, and a sign from Thee. Give us sustenance, for Thou art the Best of Sustainers.
    [5:115]
Allah said: Lo! I send it down for you. And whoso disbelieveth of you afterward, him surely will I punish with a punishment wherewith I have not punished any of (My) creatures.
    [5:116]
And when Allah saith: O Jesus, son of Mary! Didst thou say unto mankind: Take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah ? he saith: Be glorified! It was not mine to utter that to which I had no right. If I used to say it, then Thou knewest it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy Mind. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Knower of Things Hidden ?
    [5:117]
I spake unto them only that which Thou commandedst me, (saying): Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. I was a witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when Thou tookest me Thou wast the Watcher over them. Thou art Witness over all things.
    [5:118]
If Thou punish them, lo! they are Thy slaves, and if Thou forgive them (lo! they are Thy slaves). Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Mighty, the Wise.
    [5:119]
Allah saith: This is a day in which their truthfulness profiteth the truthful, for theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they are secure for ever, Allah taking pleasure in them and they in Him. That is the great triumph.
