I don’t think they make excuses. I mean the have clear rules for projects to be entered for consideration.. project only had to be over 30 minutes to be considered... yes technically they are eps but it was entered as a compilation album
M 2 Bottom line an Ep is not an album no matter how it's spun. Now she can hold off putting a project then be eligible still for best new artist category. Again dope artist but your taking that look from someone who took the time to create a full body of work.

I understand what you’re saying and I agree for the most part, but around voting time you see artists do tv performances to get there name in the talks for consideration. I’ve seen Ella Mai, Chloe x Halle, h.e.r, but I didn’t see Teyana. Maybe because her team didn’t do a good job promoting her doing voting period was a reason she was possibly overlooked.🤷🏽♀️
M 2 Teyana had a strong social media response to her album and actually redirected the traffic that was upset certain songs weren't cleared sample wise and also the project was filled to a heavy response with her concerts especially after she became the sole headliner yet she wasn't even considered. Alesia Cara beat out Sza last year but wasn't s new artist she was already an established artist yet was allowed to be in the category. They pick and choose who they are willing to support and s lot times base it on relationships that connected to board members. Again an Ep is not an album great artist but truth is truth. If we're gonna say she deserved to win then SZA should have won year prior cause her album sound like that project.

That is why i feel like post malone should have been considered as well.
