There's also evidence of why he always defends hiccup to his dad and had such a deep connection with hiccup is because he knows what its like to be different from the other vikings.
Ngl and I’m saying this with no hate… but why does it matter if a character is gay or not? Like can’t we just appreciate them as a good character. Like for example most shows and tv shows are super sexualized and I find it disgusting that sex is just thrown in our faces, but then I also find it weird that these studios also alienate the gay person or what not and make like the same thing happen but “gay”. I mean so what if they are straight or gay just give us good characters and if the story calls for them to fall in love sure add it in (while making sense) and stop making them this alienated person that has to be idolized for how they choose to have sex. But I could be wrong so 🤷♂️
I get that you're trying to say that gay is a sexuality but so is straight. So if i see a straight couple, I'm not just thinking about them having sex... it's just nice to see representation of a character and if he's gay, it adds another layer of complexity to him that many of us may specifically relate to. Maybe the fact that he's gay made him feel alone and alienated in his community? Maybe his personality was just something developed from trying to hide his sexuality? What i said is probably a stretch but part of enjoying a movie is connecting to the characters and some like to draw out more context, and if a character is more relatable to them, they connect to them more easily
@@Bluessoulphoenix the first part yes I agree with it. Look I get it they feel alienated, but if you continue to show them as alienated imo then they will always be an alien. Instead show them as apart of society and sure they have their love interest but everyone loves them because of how awesome of a character they are
@@UncleIroh786 I like where you're thinking! Yes agreed, making it just a casual almost throwaway part of who they are (cuz sexuality isn't someone's entire personality) is a great ideal to move towards, but my point was that these are currently still issues we face just because we appear different. So even if my interpretation were leaning towards the negative side, I resonate with that because it's what I still experience in daily life. Other folks may identify with more positive qualities they see. It's just nice to be included. Also I don't believe this character even had a boyfriend, so him being gay was buried enough that many people didn't catch on. My key rebuttal to your initial comment was that "being gay just doesn't automatically mean sex".
They hinted at it but also the reason him and Stoic met was because he flirted with his wife.
Gobbet has been known to be gay I’ve known this for yeeeeaaarrrrs
