I love everything about this interview. Shows how wonderful it is when an author is asked intelligent questions by one who actually reads & is given space to answer well.
Lovely. Unlike many interviewer types, you listened to him - every word - and he was evidently very ready to tell you all he thought you wanted to know. Wasn't he open with you! You weren't just thinking of your next question (and yet your questions were probing and showed how well you know his writing) and he was enjoying that conversation. Thank you!
You're a great interviewer. Having watched many (too many) Brandon Sanderson interviews, the same questions get asked all the time. You did a great job of visiting all the usual topics (because many people might be hearing these things for the first time) but asking more interesting questions, plus great followup questions. You clearly did your homework before the interview :)
Well, this was an extremely pleasant surprise to suddenly find in my RUclips feed! Great interview! I really enjoyed it :D And though I somehow got a little stuck in the third Mistborn book (because I just wasn't in the mood for it at the time), this has made me all excited to pick it up again:) And I am so curious about all those planned trilogies! Should give me something to look forward to for the next two decades or so...
+Owl Night The third one actually eventually became my favourite! I love Sazed's progression throughout it. It really meant a lot to me personally. But also when you get to Alloy of Law, the start of the cowboy reboot it's such easy reading. It's so fast paced you just have to keep pageturning!
Went to his signing in Edinburgh. All I can say is what a man! very humble, friendly and a genuine person. He took the time to write personal messages, take pictures and listened to my opinions on his books. Mr Sanderson, I tip my 'Wayne' hat to you!
+ivegotabfmv I now really really want to find people I can cosplay with. Wayne, Wax and Marasi ...although actually I would probably want to dress up as Lessie.
Oh, he really doesn't sleep! Now I understand how he can write so many books, and also do teaching and see his family and possible even eat once in a while!
+C. A. DuBois (The Petite Britette) If you ever have the opportunity to meet him take it! (I almost wrote take him : P Not that one.) He's such an amazing lovely person and I want to read everything he's ever written.
First, and most importantly, very well done with the interview! You asked excellent questions, they followed a clear path and they dug into a unique area I'd never heard him comment on before. I really enjoyed this and I hope that you get the opportunity to do more interviews like this in the future. I've met Brandon in person on multiple occasions and played Magic with him. He has always been very kind and courteous to the fans he interacts with and is just a real class act. I truly enjoyed watching you speak with him here. Congratulations on the great opportunity, and I think that you really nailed it.
+Michael Cox Thanks so much, this comment means a lot to me. I was so nervous to meet him! And having only read ...8? (I think) of his books so far was worried he'd find my questions just really dumb, very 'Oh, I've heard this a zillion times before, I answered it in X. Oh, you don't know Y? I talked about that loads in Z.' But yes, it was amazing, and I kinda already want to interview him again. I still have a million more questions : P
I can not wait to see if metals like Iridium, Osmium or Caesium (or Uranium ?) will show up. And what (if anything) Sanderson wants to do with semi-conductors like Germanium or Tellurium.
Yeah! I was in London, they had so many panels and I met so manu authors I was overwhelmed with information. And definitely I bought so many! Thanks god, they gave us a bag ;)
+Common Touch of Fantasy I was very lucky that a friend let me borrow their camera, and came along to help film. Otherwise it would have just been the one. I think it's much better this way.
Commenting before watching the video...a sin, but just want to say: I haven't read any of his books yet but because of your enthusiasm on here and on Twitter I promised myself I will start the Mistborn series before the year ends :) Now I'll watch the video, I'm so happy for you , you got to do something so cool!
+Indira A Also Way of Kings! Maybe Way of Kings first. That's my favourite series. I can't believe I only discovered Sanderson last year. He's now so my favourite!
+SableCaught I'll let you know! Reading the new Tanya Landman book (Hell and High Water) right now, you got me hooked after sending me Buffalo Soldier. Thanks again for that :D
+Havok4 Thanks, I had a lot of fun doing it! I could have happily sat with him all day just asking him more and more about everything and everything else : P
+SociallyWired He's a good author, but best? He's no where near the level of Faulkner, Hemingway or any of the other geniuses. He's decent at writing fantasy books but don't get ahead of yourself.
Great interview! Letting him talk loads but nudging him into a certain direction :) I also remember seeing you at the signing on Saturday but I was stuck in the line!
I find it very interesting that he says "I wanted to see if the fans liked it!" On what he was going to write next. Allot like a TV producer would by outing out a pilot. But allot of Authors write what they want to and don't care what others think as they see their writing as their Art. It's a very interesting concept and I think personally I just want a writer to write what ever the hell they want and not give a dame whether it sells or not. That's a very romantic idea tho.
+Hannah booksandbeauty This is the thing. I am definitely at the stage where I would read anything Sanderson writes. His name on the cover is an assurance of amazingness. I am still so stunned that he might not have continued Alloy of Law. It finishes with so many loose ends! I would have been forever haunted by the questions.
He says he feels guilty when he hands out RAFOs, and funnily enough, the obsessive hypothesizers of the 17th Shard fanbase basically consider them our Bread-and-Butter (because a) once we get one we know what not to ask in future and b) because handing out a RAFO is basically a red flag saying "Hey, you're on the right track")
Ah, British interviewers ask such better questions than American ones. All the publicity is wasted in America because they ask the same 5 dumb questions of every author. Loved this!
I love everything about this interview. Shows how wonderful it is when an author is asked intelligent questions by one who actually reads & is given space to answer well.
He looked at the camera! HE LOOKED AT ME! HE THANKED ME FOR READING! WITNESS!
Excellent interview. A pleasure to watch and a miracle to experience.
+Let's Read I'm sure, being in his presence, he has now approved of my entire existence.
I AM AWAITED!!!!!!!
Great interview. Brandon is such a wizard. And you did great :)
sanderson is such a great guy and an inspired author, im currently reading the 1st book in the mistborn trilogy and its a thing of beauty

i can't wait for the Tom Clancy Epic Fantasy Mistborn book
How amazing you got to meet Brandon Sanderson! He is one of my favourite authors. Great interview, I really enjoyed it :).

+ivegotabfmv He can make me a cocktail : )
Oh, he really doesn't sleep! Now I understand how he can write so many books, and also do teaching and see his family and possible even eat once in a while!
I'm pretty sure he's somehow hemallurgically tapping GRRM and Pat.
❤️❤️❤️ awesomely conducted Stevie, well done!!! So jealous

What a great, great interview. Thank you :-)
Just saw him on the Gollancz Festival last week but I can't get enough of him. Brilliant interview
+La Estanteria de Ithil You were at GollanczFest? I was at GollanczFest! I bought way too many books!
Yeah! I was in London, they had so many panels and I met so manu authors I was overwhelmed with information.

she is so lovely and great questions. very natural sounding conversation.
Fantastic interview, better than most I've seen. I loved that you used two cameras and edited the footage together. Great job Sable
+Common Touch of Fantasy I was very lucky that a friend let me borrow their camera, and came along to help film. Otherwise it would have just been the one. I think it's much better this way.

I'll make sure to pick Way of Kings up somewhere. Thanks for the tip :)
Tell me if/when you do. I'd love to hear what you think. Seriously, favourite book.
+SableCaught I'll let you know! Reading the new Tanya Landman book (Hell and High Water) right now, you got me hooked after sending me Buffalo Soldier. Thanks again for that :D
+Indira A Whey! I have had such an influence, I am very proud : D But also very ashamed because I haven't read her yet! I will one day, I swear!
You did an amazing job, Stevie!!
+enchantology Thanks so much! I was so so damn nervous!
Well this was an excellent interview. It is always fascinating to hear brandon go deep on his stuff.
+Havok4 Thanks, I had a lot of fun doing it! I could have happily sat with him all day just asking him more and more about everything and everything else : P

+WTFate I know! I can't even imagine how the magic will develop.

+The Book Belle Thanks so much for the opportunity! One of the best experiences of my life!
Wow! Which big time fantasy authors are you going to interview next? Stevie power! Congrats on a video well done.
+TimeAndChance Can I chose? Can I have Tamora Pierce? ...or JK Rowling? I would die if I got to meet JK.
best author #1
+SociallyWired Has so quickly become one of my ultimate favs.
+SociallyWired He's a good author, but best? He's no where near the level of Faulkner, Hemingway or any of the other geniuses. He's decent at writing fantasy books but don't get ahead of yourself.
Wow, great interview!
Great interview! Letting him talk loads but nudging him into a certain direction :)
I also remember seeing you at the signing on Saturday but I was stuck in the line!
+A Simple Cup of Tea Oh no! Next time we must say hi! But yes, lines, and signing and meeting the most amazing authors : )
I saw you at the signing but it didn't click in my brain that it was you. Hahah. Next time definitely :)
+A Simple Cup of Tea I need to where a badge! Or dye my hair blue again!
I'll be sure to wave and say hi next time. I'll just have to stalk you more closely on twitter ;) haha.
+A Simple Cup of Tea That is what twitter is for, I'm convinced : P

he looks exhausted.
Sanderson's a bad boye
He says he feels guilty when he hands out RAFOs, and funnily enough, the obsessive hypothesizers of the 17th Shard fanbase basically consider them our Bread-and-Butter (because a) once we get one we know what not to ask in future and b) because handing out a RAFO is basically a red flag saying "Hey, you're on the right track")
+Landis963 I know! When he said he couldn't talk about the future of Atium my mind just went down a million rabbit holes.
WOW, aint gon lie i was kinda distracted

+Liz Busby Aw, thanks so much. I'm just still blushing at him talking about the way I pronounce aluminium : P
