    One of the best cities to live in when you are young and active. Culture, music, a hub for great thinkers, movers and shakers. Great diversity and people

    I think you made a very good point about the news coverage in the UK when compared with the United States. When I lived/worked in the US I found the news coverage really insular. The news outlets only really talked about what was happening in the States and events in the rest of the world were pretty much ignored unless there were American armed forces involved. The UK is far more outward looking and engaged in what is happening around the world. I liked and admired that.

      Actually I think the U.K. media, particularly when it comes to t.v. is just as insular as the U.S. Admittedly the number of people who actually watch t.v. news now is shrinking fast and that’s a good thing -lol.

    The thing I appreciated most about London was how much of a "world" city it is. It was like a United Nations all within a few square miles. It's an absolutely fascinating place with so much to see.

    This made me miss London so much! I was there, oh man, SIX years ago already... gotta get back! Every time I walk into a clothing store back home here in the States I miss London fashion lol. Isn't it funny seeing what was there show up here way later? Cracks me up at least.

    Can't beat Friday after work beers - people in suits on the side of/ on the road ploughing through pints of cold lager. A nice melting pot when senior director and intern are suddenly best pals. I moved to Shanghai and asked the whole office out for beers - my bosses told me to calm it down because it made me look like an alcoholic. That would NEVER happen in London.

    It's interesting to see how others see us. London started out as little villages that grew into one big city that's why each part still has it's own individually character. It's the fourth most expensive city in the world to live in . It is most cosmopolitan , it is possible to walk down the road and hear 200 different languages spoken . The rest of Britain is very different in character to London.

    I’m from the uk and have been to London twice, it’s really expensive and so busy! When I went I saw hundreds of Americans and they were like so stunned by the sightings, I have always wanted to go to America so we could like swap aha, it’s very cold here and I love the heat when we get over 15 degrees which is hardly ever we are literally so crazy for it! I do love my country but I always find that people from america always want to come here and we want to go there! It’s crazy but loved this video and I LOVEE primark I get most of my clothes from there! Xxxx

    I see that Tyler is lacking in engaging in the questions and comments so I want to add something that people are not getting regarding the news. In England, like Tyler said, the News is a big deal not only within the country but in many others also. However, it means that people are very cognizant of the world and what the world goes through with big events. It was in the houses of parliament where Theresa May (the PM) gave a short mention of the remembrance of Pearl Harbor day. When does the USA government (Senate or congress) give mention of any events outside of the USA? Just an example. Great video Tyler!

      John Cornell I know that it’s still England, obviously, but London is very different to the rest of England in the sense that it has way more to do and they make an effort to make it look really nice because of the amount of tourism there. Sure, they may do that to other big cities and places which have famous tourist attractions but London is really different to everywhere else I’ve been in the UK.

    Excuse me but Primark is NOT a UK thing. It's IRISH🇮🇪. It's called Penny's. It opened decades ago in Ireland 🇮🇪 and there are penny's stores all over Ireland. It's quintessential Irish brand like Guinness, tayto crisps, riverdance ect. When the company expanded and wanted to open stores outside of Ireland they had to change the name because in the US there is a brand called JC Penny's. So basically it's called Penny's in Ireland but anywhere outside of Ireland like in the US or UK the stores are called Primark. Again it's an irish brand store NOT British.

    What did you do for a living in London? I'm planning to live there next year as a hotel receptionist and I have no idea if I'll be able to make a living out of it

    • @76juno33
      @76juno33 6 лет назад +2

      Sorry, I know your question was addressed to the young lady in the video but I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago. The simple answer is that London is expensive with a capital 'E' and a hotel receptionist job does not pay big money. Much depends on what your accommodation arrangements will be but if you are intending to live on your own in some kind of apartment then I honestly think you might struggle. To answer your specific question you won't make much of a living out of it. Having said that, if you can manage financially then you will be living and working in what I consider to be the greatest city in the world, so if you can cope with the likelihood of living modestly then I would say go for it. Good luck.

    Not all museums are free, i agree some of the larger ones are, but the big attraction, the Tower of London, Madame Tussauds, London dungeon, to name a few cost a lot to visit, especially for a family.
    £16 to see St Pauls cathedral, a place of worship, such a building should be free.

Madame Tussauds and the London Dungeon are tourist attractions, not museums.

    Living in Earls Court "WHEN" you were living over here NOT "whenever". That implies that you live/lived in Earls Court on numerous occasions. Yet another bastardisation of the English language by Americans that really gets my back up! Van Go? No, it's Van Goff. Grocery shopping probably seems cheaper because the price on the shelves is the price you pay at the till/checkout. No need to start working out the cost after you've added the tax.

    Number three we British don't drive on the opposite side of the road .Europe changed when Napoleon was master of Europe he ordered all his army on foot on one side of the road and his supplies with four wheels on the the right side .Because Napoleon did surrender at Waterloo he never set one foot on British soil so had no influence or power in Great Britain .We drive on the left it was Europe that changed not my beloved country. All that we British have is all yours God bless America.

    • @derekdelboytrotter8881
      @derekdelboytrotter8881 6 лет назад +2

      The reason we drive on the left has NOTHING to do with Napoleon!! We drive on the left because it’s all to do with keeping your sword hand free!
      In the Middle Ages you never knew who you were going to meet when travelling. Most people are right-handed, so if a stranger passed by on the right of you, your right hand would be free to use your sword if required. (Similarly, medieval castle staircases spiral in a clockwise direction going upwards, so the defending soldiers would be able to stab down around the twist but those attacking (going up the stairs) would not.)
      Indeed the ‘keep to the left’ rule goes back even further in time; archaeologists have discovered evidence suggesting that the Romans drove carts and wagons on the left, and it is known that Roman soldiers always marched on the left.
      This ‘rule of the road’ was officially sanctioned in 1300 AD when Pope Boniface VIII declared that all pilgrims travelling to Rome should keep to the left.
