Have you ever made your own spanner wrench for the bearing adjusters, and welded a socket to the center so that the carrier bearing preload can be set by torque wrench while you're adjusting backlash? (like a front wheel bearing).
    Works great, no guessing.👍👍

I made one with a handle that is slotted to move one pin to fit the different size adjusters. You have to line up the hole with the lock after setting backlash.
Some measure case spread, not accurate with aftermarket cases. Some add the additional rotational drag to the pinion drag reading.
No matter how you do it torque does not come into play on the spanners as you still have to line up a crude hole for the lock.
I line up the ring gear side, then add my preload on the opposite side while lining up that lock.
If you have a better method I love to learn!

Do you know if the scallop shaped NASCAR type Detroit locker will accept a regular nine inch ring gear? I have locker made by G-Force that I picked up off E-bay and a Ford motorsport ring gear and the fit seems tight. I assume the ring gear bolts will draw it down.

Yes it should, clean everything and warm up the ring gear in a toaster oven.

yea, rude awakening the firs time you squash a crush collar out of a hotrod.. I was a dealer tech and found out pretty fast that the 9" for all its strength, that tiny little collar would cost your a ring and pinion the first time job blow drops the hammer on his full loaded 1/2 truck.. or slicks on a less than stock bb mustang.. I had a slightly worn out yoke for setting up the pinion spacers.. that having to hang a puller on that stupid thing every time gets old.. I am pretty sure you could just use a piece of pipe in place of the yoke but never gave it any time to develop.. got used to doing it one way..

One of your 9” vids you used a nascar takeout. What power level do you trust those 31in spline assemblies and do you know what posi is in there?

The differential is a Detroit style locker made by G Force.
Lots of people running 8s with 1000 HP on 31 splines, no issues. There are torque capacity calculators on different sites for axles.
