Fantastic video. I have only just downloaded Audition having tried Audacity. The latter I has having freezing problems with so hopefully that problem won't occur in Audition. I'm embarking on narrating audiobooks and excited to see how I get on. Thanks for your videos.
‼UPDATE FOR ADOBE AUDITION USERS ‼- I have made it easier than ever before to work with tricky audio. My brand new Adobe Audition presets are out now. One click to GREAT sound :) Check them out here: mrc.fm/presets This is a great way for you to support my channel too 🙏🙏🙏
I just starting playing around with Audition today. I followed your instructions here, but when I saved the session, it's dumped loads of files everywhere that I don't know what they mean or do. A ( AU Tracks) Audio folder, a /pkf file, loads of 'Audio Extracted.wav' files everywhere. You don't mention the mes Audition leaves when you use it. Have you done a video explaining what all files mean, and how to get back into Audition if you want to make changes? I think I'll stick within Premier for now! lol
I understand your frustration with the file clutter - I'll definitely consider creating a video explaining the file types and how to manage them in Adobe Audition to make your editing experience smoother!
Hi there, I really just want to edit my voice recordings for my pod cast. Adobe audition looks quite sophisticated. I really just want to remove/ cut clips. Do you think I am better of using a less sophisticated tool? I am only using the free trial to see whether it will be useful for me
Your DAW is a matter of personal choice. I use Audition as my every day DAW. Certainly Audacity could do what you want to do but Audacity would also come with a learning curve.
Question: I have a video with an audio where the person repeats words and I have to take them away. I am thinking about improving the sound and changing the file. How can I change one file for another in Adobe Premiere Pro without messing up the video. In other words, how can I hide mistakes made by the speaker but not change the order so as the voice and video are synced? Thank you. Kind regards, Veronica
In Adobe Premiere Pro, you can easily swap out the audio file while keeping the video intact by using the "Replace with Clip" option, ensuring that the voice and video remain perfectly synced.
@@MikeRussell Hi Mike, Thank you for your reply. Where do I find that option? I need to edit the audio of a video because there is voice stutter from the speaker giving the presentation. How do I take away stutter? Thanks
Hey Mike, awesome content! I've followed your instructions step by step. I can hear myself in my headphones and see the light on my interface going green when I speak. Yet, once I hit record, not one bit of audio is picked up. Any suggestions?
If you're monitoring from your interface you'll hear yourself whether you've set up Audition correctly to record. Go into preferences, set your audio hardware to be your interface and then into channel mapping and make sure the channels are mapped correctly
Hi, Mike! Thank you for this great tutorial! I have been a graphic artist for 25 years, but am just getting into video (and audio). I started with Premiere Pro, but am in the process of learning how to use Audition. I feel more comfortable editing (cutting and moving) audio clips in Premiere than in Audition. It seems to me that one should edit the sound of the audio in Audition, but the placement of that audio (in the video) within Premiere. Am I correct thinking this? Thanks again!
Hi Eric. That’s correct. Editing video in Audition will edit the audio but does bit edit the video. I think it’s best to edit the video in premiere pro and then edit the audio in audition for that reason.
Hi Christina, if you're working on a video in Premiere Pro you can export the audio to Audition and edit it there as a multi track and then save it back to Premiere Pro.
i dont have an audio interface but i have a mic rode nt but the voice is so low when I record in the adobe audition plz text me the exact numbers to make it normal loud or high ,,,,,,,I PUT MY MIC WIRE STRIGHT ON MY LAPTOP
Which Rode NT? If it's the USB then adjust the volume in control panel, if it's the NT1, NT1a, NT2 or NT2a then get an audio interface as those mics need phantom power

There's a small problem about this beginner video I'd really like to point out, which is although it seems clean and useful, it's missing a lot of the basic functions of the software here. I still had to go through other beginner videos after watching this to fill in what's missing here, which was a bit waste of time...That said it's still a nice video, it's just I guess it works better for people with a little bit of experience with the software.
Thanks, good tutorial, though I take exception to any love for Apple's "Magic" Mouse, which is a truly ill conceived piece of hardware, which could never have been seriously considered for human use. The Logitech MX Master series is just as expensive, but fits the hand better and has a horizontal scroll wheel right where the thumb can use it. It also comes with Adobe pre-sets.

Hi there! It sounds like you may need to check your workspace settings in Adobe Audition to ensure the Effects panel is visible. Try going to the "Window" menu, then "Workspace", and select "Default". This should reset the layout and make the Effects panel visible. Let me know if that helps!
For a videographer that is thinking of doing audio edits in Audition, what would the workflow be... do all cutting and editing of the video in whatever NLE but not anything with the audio, then output the final video in a uncompressed format to then import into Audition to do all audio edits before final delivery? Anything I am missing? thanks.
A lot of what Audition can do can also be achieved in Premiere Pro natively. Alternatively you can use Adobe Dynamic link to work with your video project audio in Audition. One tip I’d share would be to do all the video cuts before linking your audio as any changes to the audio duration made in Audition won’t make the corresponding changes to the video duration.
I am working with church service recordings to post on utube. Lots of sound challenges. No doubt others face similar issues due to the lockdown and closure. If I sent you my raw edited video without my poor attempt at correction in audition could you suggest the best improvements? Daryl in Canada.

Audition 3 was a great bit of software but has been superseded for over a decade now. I'd suggest getting Audition CC where you'll find modern tasks much more easy
Can one actually record in multitrack? Or does one have to record in Wavelength and the import stuff into Multitrack? If so, how would one sync up a separate vocal and other track?
HI MIKE .. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY ADOBE AUDITION 1.5 .. ALL THE TRACKS THAT I DROP ARE ON VERTICAL .. I MEAN THE PLAYLIST IS VERTICAL AND DOWN IS THE WAVEFORM .. I USED TO WORK WITH TRACKS (PLAYLIST WITH TRACKS THAT I DRAG & DROP) ON MY RIGHT AND ON THE LEFT THE WAVEFORM .. PLS IF U CAN HELP ME .. IT WILL BE GREAT
Hi. First thing I would suggest is to upgrade to Adobe Audition CC. You’re missing out on so much. Second thing I would reset to default to see if this restores things to how you’re used to.
Hi Mike, I like your videos. I have some questions: How do I do the voice over for a project according to these requirements but delivering something of good quality? TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: 24 bit, 44 kHz, mono, Unprocessed, RAW .wav, -60dB noise floor (or better). Naturally minimized background noise, breaths, and clicks (no plugins). I do not know which are plugins in the Effects panel. I looked at your video about the 5 mistakes but I do not know which steps I can take to improve the quality but still deliver according to tech requirements. Thank you. Kind regards, Veronica
Hi Veronica, thank you for your kind words! To achieve those technical requirements in Adobe Audition without using plugins, ensure to record in a quiet environment, use noise reduction tools like noise print, and gently edit out background noise, breaths, and clicks manually. Aim for a clean, natural sound by focusing on recording quality and subtle editing techniques.
@@MikeRussell Hi Mike, Thank you for your reply. I am working on a big vo project from a customer and they ask for a RAW WAV file without any plugins, nor compression, nor breaths, etc. Each script is about 10-18 pages long which takes me quite a long time to do it manually via Audacity. I am switching to Audition today in order to improve the workflow but I am unsure which are considered plugins since I only see Effects and there is no distinction there. I do not know which are plugins. I also do not know what is considered compression. I usually save after taking out the bg noise, the breaths, the mouth clicks, and normalizing. No compression. I do not know if normalize is considered compression.
@@MikeRussell Hi Mike... hope you doing great. i can't find any video about adobe audition plugins i mean how to add where to find and so on.. i hope you get the idea. if you have please share i really appreciate your help you're one of the Best Teacher i ever have. thanks :)

Hey Mike. Thank you for an awesome tutorial - as always! I've a question - I'm having trouble with previewing files. The folders with my samples in are blank, but my samples show when I'm using Ableton. Any advice on how I can maybe fix this?
Fantastic tutorial, Mike! Thank you so much. A quick question. I have been asked a question from a voiceover company that I don't have an answer to. Could you kindly let me know how to do this in Adobe Audition? Question is: "can you record timed to picture/ time synced in your studio?" Will be obliged to get a prompt response, if possible. Regards
If you want to record then you'll need a mic. You can get a USB mic for around £100. If however you want to record music then depending on what music you're recording you will need an interface / capture device.
I really want to appreciate you for the tutorials you provided it has allowed me to produce good sound recording as an armature but now a better. however i really need an audio interface, just cant afford it. wish i could.
Don't let that stop you. I believe the microphone is your greatest friend. Have a look at the Blue mics, several models provide some unique sounds for your voice. I use the snowball which offers a really nice warm sound. They are all direct USB plug and play without an interface and sound great! I think the phantom amps and interfaces are great for intermediate to advanced users, but are just not critical enough for beginners like me.
To show the volume meter at the top of your audio in Adobe Audition, simply go to the 'View' menu and select 'Show Audio Meters' to display the volume levels during your recording and editing.
Hi Mike, I'm keen to sign up for your class series but can not find the link, can you post it here please? I have a question also, I have the audio file from one of my vlogs that I recorded using a Rode NTG4+ and Zoom H6 but there are some loud noises on it (equipment scraping on a table and sound of equipment being put down) that I want to get rid of. I'm trying spectral view and healing but I don't really know what I am doing. 1. is it possible to delete this sound 2. would I learn this type of method on your course? Thanks.
Hi Rich. The courses link is courses.musicradiocreative.com/ Without hearing the audio and how severe it is I can’t say for certain whether it’s recoverable. We do cover noise reduction in the courses but obviously my best tip is to eradicate noise at source before recording. The techniques we cover in the courses can help eradicate noise but if it’s too bad then to remove it you’ll end up degrading the quality of the audio.
@@MikeRussell Hi Mike, thanks for the reply. I suspect It's a case of having to live with it on this occasion. I'll make sure I user a covering on the table next time or just be a lot quieter! Thanks also for the link.
good video but as a beginner i need more detail like how do u cut that in 16:26, and is it rlly needed to mixdown the entire session to save multitrack audio or u can just save it without mixdown it?
If you’re working with the time selection tool and have a selection made when you press delete the selected audio is deleted. Also, you need to mix down a Multitrack session in order to have a file of the mix. You can only save a session as a .sesx file which contains no audio.
You are BRILLIANT! Thank you so much for this. I have had audition downloaded to my computer for a LONG time (I already had it because we use illustrator and have the plan with all the apps) and had been terrified to use it. Audacity keeps crashing on me, or I lose audio and I had finally had enough! Today was the day- but I opened it up and felt so overwhelmed. I don’t feel overwhelmed anymore, and think I have a pretty good handle on it!. Now I just need to figure out how to install my RX plugins and I’ll be good!
@@MikeRussell Hi thanks a lot, I guess I will need a bit more information about what I am trying to do. I have sent you an email. Any help from your side will be highly appreciated.
What I love the most about your channel is how you narrowed down your niche and you are not posting a little about everything. Fantastic videos, my friend!
I'm trying to edit and cut audio in the multitrack view but the playhead isn't displaying..it looks to be the regular cursor..does anyone know how I can get the playhead to display?
question if you don't mind. which would be better to use. audio interface like a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (3rd Gen) USB or a mixer like Yamaha MG10XU 10 Input (4 XLR) Mixer Board w/ Digital FX. I will be using adobe audition. Thank you in advance. Great tutorial as well.
When you edit the podcasts for breaths and filler words are you doing in the wave editor or in the multitrack (in case of 1 channel recording)? And when you use dynamic tools again is it at the wave editor page or in the multitrack?
You can do in either. I would suggest doing it in the multitrack though where it's easier to ensure the speech still flows rather than just deleting the entire space out in waveform.
How do you close down / delete a your first recorded audio file? For some reason it does not allow me to delete the file and this error appears "One or more files are actively processing jobs. Please cancel these jobs or wait for them to finish."
Where do you suggest storing files? I'm new to Audition --upgraded from GarageBand--and find that I'm saving inordinate numbers of files. Many thanks from the States.
Mike! I am in need of your help. After compressing the multiple tracks into one and then exiting Audition, is there any way to recover the multiple track format so I can edit those parts individually? Please let me know as soon as you get this! Thanks!
Bro.... The mixing you were doing at 16:30 really shocked me. Editing by just looking at the waveforms shows that you are a real pro!!! Looking forward to attain that level😉

From the window menu selection media browser.
How can I use Adobe Audition 3 to format a voice-over for "ACX"?? OMG frustrated
You can record in multitrack or waveform
Second thing I would reset to default to see if this restores things to how you’re used to.
hello Mike! To listen to sound while recording, is there any way other than clicking I button?
Ideally you would want to direct monitor through your mixer or interface so as to avoid latency
Hello 🙂 how can I add mix instruments (guitar, bass guitar, drum...) How can I do my music step by step?
You'll find a couple of videos on my channel of making sung radio jingles which will give you some helpful pointers for what you're looking to achieve
I will do anything for a part 2
REALLY Good teacher!
Keep up the good work mate!
What would you like to see in part 2?
@@MikeRussell idk I would watch anything u upload!
@@MikeRussell Hi Mike... hope you doing great. i can't find any video about adobe audition plugins i mean how to add where to find and so on.. i hope you get the idea. if you have please share i really appreciate your help you're one of the Best Teacher i ever have. thanks :)
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I really appreciate it. I am just getting setup
You're welcome! I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful. Best of luck with setting up Adobe Audition!
I connected my irig pro interface to my PC and microphone but Adobe Audition won’t record any sound. What am I doing wrong?
Best to pose this in our community where you can share screenshots of what you've got set up to help diagnose the issue community.musicradiocreative.com/
now do I have music already in audition --as I can't seem to get to where you were in that section-- it has things that come up like all kinds of files for the whole computer help thanks John
Audition does not come with any music.
Hi Mike, Once I have configured my voice settings. Is there a way to save the setting to be used whenever I want to record a voice clip?
Have a look at this older video which should help ruclips.net/video/t8VavLRzx78/видео.html
Would this be a good platform to create youtube videos or do you recommend adobe premier? I can't figure that program out
Adobe Audition is a great for audio editing but Premiere is what you’ll need for video.
Why doesn't it have a consalidating option? To make the wav the length of song. So you can work with the files in another daw
You can export any media file from Adobe Audition and open it in another DAW
Hey Mike. Thank you for an awesome tutorial - as always! I've a question - I'm having trouble with previewing files. The folders with my samples in are blank, but my samples show when I'm using Ableton. Any advice on how I can maybe fix this?
Can you drag a sample from the folder into Audition from the explorer view? What format are the samples in?
@@MikeRussell Yes, I can drag the samples into Audition and they're all mp3 or wav format.
Check out this video and see if this helps ruclips.net/video/RhPHntuTDQU/видео.html
Fantastic tutorial, Mike! Thank you so much. A quick question. I have been asked a question from a voiceover company that I don't have an answer to. Could you kindly let me know how to do this in Adobe Audition? Question is: "can you record timed to picture/ time synced in your studio?"
Will be obliged to get a prompt response, if possible. Regards
Very Good, I hope they've been organised into folders so I can follow the series, thank you, you've done a great job here.
yo Mike, seeing if you can help.when trying to preference to the audio interface but its not showing as an option.any suggestions?
I'd suggest taking this to our community where you can share more details community.musicradiocreative.com/
Recording needs a external mic to avoid buzzing sound from computer and it can record clear vocals, right?
Also I don't have the volume showing at the top of my audio. How do I get this to show up?
To show the volume meter at the top of your audio in Adobe Audition, simply go to the 'View' menu and select 'Show Audio Meters' to display the volume levels during your recording and editing.
Your tutorials are so helpful! I’m watching these before I start the trial period so Thank You!
Enjoy Audition, I'm sure once you've done the trial period you'll be subscribing 👍
Thanks.
Hi Rich. The courses link is courses.musicradiocreative.com/
Without hearing the audio and how severe it is I can’t say for certain whether it’s recoverable.
You can only save a session as a .sesx file which contains no audio.
clear and straight to the point thank you!
Thanks
Do people use this program on A grade movies too? What sound design programs they use on movies?
You'd have to ask production studios what they use but there's no reason they wouldn't be able to use Audition.
I started using Adobe Audition how do you know if the audio file is -60 db for audio books?
Go to the window menu, open amplitude statistics and scan the audio file. You'll then get all the stats on the audio in the file.
can you loopback audio from your pc to record from whatever is coming out of your soundcard?
Depends on your sound card but you’d need to enable stereo mix on a PC to do this.
Hopefully this video on installing plug ins helps ruclips.net/video/Ul7AW4SoOTg/видео.html
@@MikeRussell I actually figured it out all on my own but I REALLY appreciate your response!!!
Awesome
is this too professional to use as a music editor ( too complicated)?
Not at all👍
Thank you so much for this helpful video ❤️
👍
Hiii thanks for the amazing tutorial. I wanted to ask if I want to adjust a sound to 250Hz pitch ,how to know the value of the cents
You could use generate tones to generate a 250hz tone
@@MikeRussell Hi thanks a lot, I guess I will need a bit more information about what I am trying to do. I have sent you an email. Any help from your side will be highly appreciated.
Audition can be used to fix plosives...
Yes it can. Either through a high pass filter or using the spectral frequency analysis and spot healing brush.
Good my man
👍
What I love the most about your channel is how you narrowed down your niche and you are not posting a little about everything. Fantastic videos, my friend!
Thank you
Amazing tutorial, thank you very much.
👍
BEWARE! THEY WANT $103 FROM ME TO CANCEL!
I'm sorry to hear about your experience.
I'm trying to edit and cut audio in the multitrack view but the playhead isn't displaying..it looks to be the regular cursor..does anyone know how I can get the playhead to display?
Towards the top left are the different options for editing and how the cursor will look and behave.
@@MikeRussell Thanks Mike!
👌
question if you don't mind. which would be better to use. audio interface like a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (3rd Gen) USB or a mixer like Yamaha MG10XU 10 Input (4 XLR) Mixer Board w/ Digital FX. I will be using adobe audition. Thank you in advance. Great tutorial as well.
You can't beat the 2i2 for the price. Mixer is good if you need more features.
@@MikeRussell Thank you for the fast response.
You're welcome
How do you close down / delete a your first recorded audio file? For some reason it does not allow me to delete the file and this error appears "One or more files are actively processing jobs. Please cancel these jobs or wait for them to finish."
You must have a job processing which needs to complete before closing.
@@MikeRussell how do you complete the job?
The job will complete when it’s finished. Once you’ve started a process running there is nothing further for you to do.
Where do you suggest storing files? I'm new to Audition --upgraded from GarageBand--and find that I'm saving inordinate numbers of files. Many thanks from the States.
Hi, I'm sure you'll enjoy Audition. Have a look at this video for some workflow tips ruclips.net/video/a_ezty2WRzc/видео.html
Can someone ask adobe to add native midi support. =(
There is a feature request section on the official Adobe forums.
Where did you get all the collection of sound effects?
You can grab effects from mrc.fm/sfx
Mike! I am in need of your help. After compressing the multiple tracks into one and then exiting Audition, is there any way to recover the multiple track format so I can edit those parts individually? Please let me know as soon as you get this! Thanks!
If you've edited in the waveform then these changes become permanent once saved so always best to keep the originals
Hey! Where can I download free sound effects?
If you sign up to our mailing list there’s often free drops and fx sent out www.musicradiocreative.com/
Wow.... great job in presentation!!! Bravo
Thank you
Great introduction. I'm just getting started. How do I set up and record two mics for interviews in Adobe Audition using a PC and USB mics?
Hi Carol, have a look at this video ruclips.net/video/vBdFHvqNOn8/видео.html
Bro.... The mixing you were doing at 16:30 really shocked me. Editing by just looking at the waveforms shows that you are a real pro!!! Looking forward to attain that level😉
