    Great how to video JD. I may have missed it but what material is the spur gear, it was shot, lol

      Hey Raymond bud thank you very much, umm i'm not sure i mentioned it mate, good shout :-) It is a hardened plastic composite which would be great for a brushed motor but not so great for the brushless one. Well, actually, let me clarify that, i mean not for non stock brushless motors lol. After this video i tried the car the next day and have already shredded the new spur, so i have replaced it for a steel spur instead. Man it makes more noise (dont mind that as it sounds quite mean) but it really really shifts now :-) ;-)

    That was a very thorough way of accessing the spur gear, I just pretty much undid the 6 on the spur gear cover, the 4 for the rear differential and took off the whole rear of the car and bingo access to spur gear. if i recall correctly lol.

  • @SouthpawBluesman
    @SouthpawBluesman 5 лет назад +3

    Yep that's exactly what my spur gear looked like on my Bugsta, I bought the toughened teflon/poly spur gear just in case. It's a damn good idea to very regularly check the main driveshaft bearing attached to the clutch assembly, mine looked fine until I took it out and it was in 6 separate pieces.... They only cost £1.50 tho😁 very detailed video buddy, excellent!
    I saw a brilliant video on how to professionally set up your clutch on 4wd cars, I will find it and send it to you 👍👍

      Where did you get the metal spur gear. Is it made for the bugsta or a seperate one all together.

    • @asmellyfrog4225
      @asmellyfrog4225 3 года назад

      @@brennock2012 you can order them from the uk. There is a spur kit. Honestly, the bugsta is a garbage toy. I ended up throwing mine away as too many problems. I recommend you do the same.

    Cheers JD. Great video. My Busta has stripped the gear in 1 month and it's not even the brushless version. Just ordered the hardened spur and pinion but now I know how to replace it.

      Thank you bud, yes i've done a fair few of them over the years. Using the trucks and quads is one part of this excellent hobby, but you need to know how to look after them too or when you need to use them, they may not work. Not that i have found out the hard way around 4 or 5 years ago when a truck front left suspension rod snapped from a rusty pin of course ;-)

    I have no idea how you removed that spur set from the main body. I've unattached the whole set of wheels, spur set, but couldn't remove the spur set. So had to make do sorting it while still attached

    Oh JD , stop " screwing " around ! Ha ha ! Looks like the teeth got chewed up real good . Reminded me of an old truck I had that made a horrible grinding noise when it started until I changed the flywheel . But still it didn't look as bad as this sprocket ! Good job buddy ! 😁👍👍

      Thank you matey, i do love your comments and sense of humour, that made me laugh a lot :-) I stripped the old spur pretty good, but the new one you sere me putting inside this Bugsta in this video was stripped after my latest bash LOL. I have now got a steel spur going in instead as the motor is just too powerful for any hardened plastic lol.

    My bugsta has had this problem about THREE times now and the fact that that the transmission is exposed to grit is an awful design- really lets this RC buggy down. I wouldn't of bought a whole new RC truck if wasn't for this problem !!! :(

      Hey Chris there might be a bit of scraping as the gear beds in but if there are metal shards and if the buggy is juddering forwards and back then i would take the spur out as it may be the wrong one.
