Awesome Review...Just placed an order for Transfer with Carmax. 2014 Cadillac ELR with the Luxury Package and Adaptive Cruise. Ask is $29K with 27K Miles and One Owner with regular services and no factory recalls. Looking forward to the Test Drive and I'll go from there...MSRP was $85K 3.5 years ago. Still covered under the 4yr/50K Mile Bumper to Bumper Warranty...wow...
Stephen J.P. Ingley I’m thinking along these same lines. Looking at about the same car for the same price. Also thinking about getting a boatload of good after market warranty on it.
Well....The Debrief goes like this...Carmax got the car up from Miami way ahead of schedule. Was 'Promised' during the Miami Carmax Walk around to verify a few things. They confirmed Michelin Tires, Charging Cord in the rear trunk storage space, emergency tire repair kit, both remotes, non-smoker, and owners manuals in the glove box. When I showed up for my Test Drive the Li Ion Battery was dead. 110/120vac Charger Cord was missing. Emergency Tire Repair Kit Missing. Ironman Tires Made in Vietnam (Rated one of the most dangerous tires on wet roads in America today), but both remotes and the manuals. D.I.C. confirmed 0 Miles EV. Engine ran the whole time to power the generator. During multiple Regenerative Braking iterations with the paddles (very smooth) I confirmed with the VDU Battery Display that the generator was charging the Li Ion Battery Pack. After 12 miles the D.I.C. read 0 miles EV. I called our Pensacola Cadillac Service Department. Not one ELR Qualified Technician on Staff. Also, AC Delco stopped making the 12vdc Starting Low Voltage Battery and Batteries Plus doesn't even carry them. So, I walked away pretty disgusted with Carmax and the whole experience... JP
Jon Great Review. Instead of continues talking which is very interesting, I would show more shots of the car itself while talking about it- would probably be easier to listen to all that information. Awesome as always ;)
Speaking of electric cars, didnt you say a long, long time ago that you were going to or already (dont remember which) buy a Tesla Model S (i think you said you were still paying off a different car)?
This car is so inefficient, it has a gasoline generator that charges the electric motor and only spits out 345 miles. If you get a Tesla, you get a little bit less range but you have a full, independent electrical motor.
I love the information you give on this video, but the music is not working for me. It's continues and doesn't work in some of the situation when your speaking. It also takes some of my focus away from what your saying.
It would be better if you didn't make the video black and white when showing the Cue system. I want to see the colors how it comes with the car, not black and white.
Please stop using background music throughout your videos. Especially on a car review video when viewers might want to hear how loud the road noise is in the car or what the exhaust sounds like.
Cadillac, rebranding crap GM cars forever. Tesla, pwns them. Sure, it's like shooting week old dead fish in a barrel with a shotgun, but it's still nice to see an infotainment system that doesn't suck, and GM it's ass handed to them. ;-)
I didn't know you review cars too good job. Thats not a car to review for your fans (at least I wouldn't buy it) the whole reason I watch your chanel is.. you review the stuff I probably would buy!
how are you guys going to upload a new car review but no review on iOS and OS X? Techno buffalo quality has gone WAAYYYY down over the years. It's sad :(
This is sitting on dealer lots. It's no wonder why. The price is absurdly high for what is basically a Volt with a fancier body. This car makes no sense.
If you can afford a $80k Rebaged Volt, Im sure gas prices are not on your priority list, For $80k you can get the fully loaded Cadillac Escalade . An with 83 HP its not sporty. If you are into saving the environment and the Prius isn't enough, Then get a Tesla.
mine you i use to own only American cars but thats was when they were actually American made cars. American cars are not what they are anymore. You can't get quality from the new Malibu compared to the 80's Malibu when it was strong and reliable rwd car. Also the buicks now can't even compare to the 70s buick where the frame wouldn't even dent if you hit a deer. Saying I buy asian cars because i'm asian is dumb. I buy asian cars for there reliability which americans cars now can't provide.
Upkeeps doesn't always determined if it would not break down or fall apart. Its could be a manufacture parts problem like chevy with its ignition switch and also it could depend on the driver. For example most people start up there car from a cold start saying it would not affect the car because of modern fuel injection but actually its takes a large toll on the spark plugs and the engine. Thats why some 2013- and up cars won't move or slowly move because the engine needs to warm up. Also i agree with you Europeans cars have amazing reliability to there cars its just hard to work on them because of the parts not being available or scanners use to program a service that was done.
I'm noticing how much you have to lean forward to touch the screen and centerstack. That doesn't seem comfortable or safe in the event of an accident at that very moment your Messing with the entertainment controls. Plus the hood with the prop stick is unforgivable, had to give us a stupid motorized cup holder cover instead! This car is such a rip off. You could get 2 Chevy volts for that price.
our taxes saved this crummy company why. GM shame on you what a POS ! the hood thing lol, and then total miles on a full tank wow, my VW TDI gets 430 to 450 miles on a full tank and that's city, HWY I get 600, and my TDI only cost 26k. my wife's 2012 Toyota Prius gets 575 to 625 on a full tank and premium not required. GM WTF
No wonder us car markets is in the toilet... This car looks crap and overpriced. Arms Jon.. Honestly stick with reviewing phones... You have no idea about cars from watching this review
But now...four years later...I can get one for

Stephen J.P. Ingley thank you for the update.
What happens when the batteries are too old to be recharged ?
The car still works with the generator permanently on ?
Jon Great Review.

Awesome as always ;)
Whats the other shaving company John?
Can you review the 2014 camaro ?
Does have engine to wheels connection. Mountain mode recharges and propels.
Hey Jon, did you get your Tesla Model S yet or are you still on the wait list? And will you be reviewing your car on the channel?
There's one on eBay for $29,000. They have come down significantly
Very informative review, John. Thanks for explaining the functions of the car so all can understand.
Speaking of electric cars, didnt you say a long, long time ago that you were going to or already (dont remember which) buy a Tesla Model S (i think you said you were still paying off a different car)?
It's a good video, but with wwdc going on, would love to hear your thoughts on that.
I hate to say it, but Brian Cooley is still the best at reviewing car, but please give these reviews coming man.
Funny, this is the car I'm driving now since the S2000 is in the shop 😅

Pretty sure those are pneumatic not hydraulic lifts :p.

Nice job Cadillac, this is sleek af
Excellent review Jon. Well said and very in depth.
I can't wait for you to review the Elio next year!
Nice video, do more car reviews these are great!
It really hurts me to know that people say stuff about John, on his own video comment section. Just stop you guys, not cool.
And then theres me, in my 2005 Renault Clio who's biggest piece of tech is a volume control stick behind the steering wheel D:
Nice review!
So, which will happen first, me saving up enough for a used Tesla or you reviewing a car that I can actually afford?
You guys should do more car reviews
You should do a reveiw on the upcoming 2015 next generation Volvo XC90. It seems to be full of high tech.
Although people got Mean things to say, I say, you do a good job. Keep up the vids. Been a fan since I was in high school pre 2010 I believe

I hate glossy dashboards, dust ruins it
Nah itll be recalled like almost everyother gm car out there this will most likely catch fire
You make CAR-Revies?!? hahahahah ;D
You call this a beast? It is half a car, literally, for nearly 3 times it's worth!
slow as fuck because heavy as fuck
just don't spontaneously catch on fire like the volt and it will be good
also rather get a leaf

Yea I think I'm just with my old Merc G Class
Yet, I drive a ford fusion with no USB port... :(
Nice shirt
I have the sak s version
I love the elr!
Nurburgring, not nerm berg ring >:]
But in all honestly, I disagree with fact that you think it looks like it has any kind of sporty to it.
John, show us your Tesla ;)
181 Horse power? Id rather get a jag F TYPE for 67k
ughhh fingerprint magnet, I would have to keep a cloth for that touchscreen
I think i'd rather have a tesla model s
Since when? As far as i know the highest pice for the s is a lil over 100k. Base being 50k
zak arnold no Iguess base is not 50k anymore, it should be around 65k now
zak arnold base no longer 50k, that was the first model Tesla released. The new model starts at $69,900.
zak arnold Directly from Tesla www.teslamotors.com/models/design
60kWh Model S is $69,900 base
Are you in the UK zak? Their base model is £50,280
I've learned never to buy American cars unless they are classic muscle cars everything else has terrible build quality

You're not fat, you're quite attractive ;)

Cnet on cars thought it sucked :p
Total junk. 60k over priced.
Its worth 55k
If you are spending this much on a car, get a Tesla. You won't be sorry.
What a waste of 76k lol
Slow + heavy + ugly = biggest fail
Overpriced Volt. Get a Model S instead.
A little ridiculous for 80,000, the tesla model s is way better
Sexy car !!
No wonder us car markets is in the toilet... This car looks crap and overpriced. Arms Jon.. Honestly stick with reviewing phones... You have no idea about cars from watching this review
