Suho is often compared to a Disney prince because, as you saw, he has classic prince good looks, is super smart and is very well mannered and charming.
Yes, Suho is an amazing singer. Vocal coaches have said that if he was a member of any other group, he would probably be the main vocalist, but because EXO has so many outstanding vocalists, he takes a backseat to his members. He is such a humble leader that I think he often doesn't boast about his own talents in favor of allowing the other members to take center stage in an effort to make them shine even brighter.
The part where you saw Suho in the red dress was a special stage that he and several SM artists did for an SMTown concert in 2014, where they did a parody of the song and choreography for "Something" by the girl group Girl's Day, and not only was Suho involved, but Minho from SHINee, Kyuhyun from Super Junior and Changmin (Max) from TVXQ also dressed up as girls as part of that performance. ruclips.net/video/ZOL4YgB-6SI/видео.html and here is a behind the scenes video so you can see all the boys up close. ruclips.net/video/VaCcYaTQg5I/видео.html (I couldn't find an English subbed version, but they don't say much, so it doesn't really matter.)
Suho originally was training to be a member of SHINee. He was all set to debut as a member of SHINee, but right before their debut he injured his knee and had to sit out for a while, so SM decided to debut SHINee without him. He ended up having to wait 4 more years before he debuted. SHINee debuted in 2008 and EXO debuted in 2012. But I think it all worked out for the best, because as a member of SHINee he never would have been the leader (Onew is the leader of SHINee and he is 2 years older than Suho -- at that time the member who was the oldest was often automatically the leader. However, when EXO debuted, things within the industry had changed and it wasn't such a hard and fast rule that because you were the oldest you would become the leader. Case in point, Xiumin is the oldest member of EXO, but Suho is the leader.) And, as the members of EXO say, Suho was meant to be a leader -- he is super smart and has all the best leader qualities -- his members even say he could be the president of Korea someday if he wanted to.
That's one reason why EXO and SHINee are so close, because they trained and lived together before debut. Minho from SHINee and Suho are best friends, same as Taemin from SHINee and Kai are best friends. They all literally grew up together. It's also why, to this day, Minho says he has always felt slightly guilty that he had to go and leave JunMyeon (Suho) behind and he ended up debuting before him.
Fun fact: "Playboy" is originally sung by all the members of EXO, Suho just chose to sing the song as a solo performance for that concert. However, "Playboy" was actually wrote and composed by SHINee's Jonghyun, and he gave the song to EXO. The version you heard Suho singing is different than what you will hear when you get around to watching EXO's original concert performance or even Jonghyun's original version.
There are only 3 outstanding vocalists in EXO, not that many. & by technique, he's actually the 4th best. But he didn't take a step back or anything, SM just didn't choose him as one of the main vocalist bcus having 4 main vocals are too much, & eventho he's the 4th best his technique is still far away from ChenBaekSoo.
But yeah, if he debuted in another group he'd be one of the main vocalist tbh.
@@resurgingflame In my opinion all the members of EXO are outstanding vocalists. D.O. Baekhyun and Chen may have been given the title as the "main vocalists," but I think all the members of EXO have proven they all have amazing vocal talent. And as far as "taking a step back," what I was referring to was that Suho often defers praise or allows others to take the spotlight in favor of giving the other members a chance to shine.
And by the way, EXO originally had 4 main vocalists -- Luhan was also a main vocalist. So, SM never thought 4 was too many. And who's to say 4 is too many? That's only your opinion.
I'm not sure why you felt the need to quibble with me on these facts. But they are my opinion and I stand by what I said.
@@milindawilson9175 I was being objective, so no personal opinion included here. Great *singers?* Yeah sure. But great *vocalists?* No. There's a difference between the two. The only outstanding vocalists in EXO are the 3 main vocalists, who has the best & healthiest technique out of any of them by pretty large gap.
People like u nowadays throw around the main position title like it's not a big deal. No, it's an important label. Signifying that the members who has it, has the best talent & skills than any other members in their group. & this is true for most of groups in kpop, esp in SM who takes it seriously. Don't dismiss it like it meant nothing.
If that's what u meant by taking a step back, then yeah he does do that. However the phrasing in ur comment makes it seems like he purposefully took a step back from taking the main vocal position just for others to shine, which isn't the case here lol.
Actually u're wrong. Luhan was never the main vocalist. He's listed as LEAD vocalist, the same as Suho, Lay & Xiumin. He's just pushed to sing more with the main vocals as part of "vocal line".
There's literally a reason why in EXO-M songs, Chen took the burden to sing all the most difficult & complex lines to sing. Whereas in EXO-K songs, Baek & D.O. ACTUALLY shared those lines between the 2 of them. It's bcus they're the main vocals whereas Luhan wasn't.
Even from objective pov, Luhan's technique was not even that good. & it's so much weaker in comparison to ChenBaekSoo lol.
So yeah that part is also wrong. SM never made 4 main vocalists🤷🏾♂️
& 4 is indeed too many. Most kpop groups only has 1 or 2 main vocal. 3 is already a rarity. So it's not just my opinion alone. Technically speaking, having too many main vocals also makes the group vocally imbalanced.
I felt the need to "quibble on these facts" bcus it's NOT facts in the first place. It's wrong, hence why I corrected u. None of what u said is "facts". It's just a personal opinion that u believed. Bcus let's face it, do u even know anything about vocal pedagogy? How our voice works? What's considered good technique? What makes a good vocalist(not singer)?
@@resurgingflamePeople LIKE ME know without a doubt that SM considered Luhan a main vocalist, whether you want to acknowledge it or not. I have been an EXO-L since day one and and a Kpop fan since 2006 so I think I am more than qualified to know what I am talking about.
How SM designed EXO was that each member in EXO-K has a counterpart in EXO-M that fills the same role in each group. For example, Baekhyun is the main vocalist in EXO-K and Chen is the main vocalist in EXO-M; D.O. is the other main vocalist in K and Luhan was the other main vocalist in M; Chanyeol is the main rapper in K and Kris was the main rapper in M; Sehun is the lead rapper in K and Xiumin is the lead rapper in M; Kai is the main dancer in K and Lay is the main dancer in M; and then it's Suho is a lead vocalist in K and Tao was a rapper/vocalist in M (Tao is more of a rapper and Suho is a vocalist, but because they are the last two they are put together.)
If you compare EXO-K's version of their songs to the EXO-M version you will see that almost always Luhan covered the exact some parts as D.O. (and sometimes Baekhyun) in EXO-M's songs. And if you watch any variety show or event EXO-M did where they explained their roles in the group, they said Luhan was a "main vocalist."
You're telling me that you have listened to EXO-M's version of "What is Love" and "Miracles in December" and you don't think Luhan is a main vocalist? I think this pretty easily establishes him as one of the 4 main vocalists.
And as far as Suho, I have 100% heard vocal coaches and industry experts in the Kpop industry say Suho should be a "Main Vocalist." Plus, if you notice when Luhan left, Suho was the one to most often fill in as the 4th vocalist in their songs. I never use rumors or second hand knowledge. The things I talk about in my comments are the things I know to be a fact because I have physically heard them to be so. Everything I mentioned is things I have seen the members themselves say or I have seen someone in the Kpop industry in an interview say it.

You may think you are being objective, but by the sheer fact that you feel that you need to argue your points, shows that these are your opinions.

I think you are getting too wrapped up in semantics. Nothing I said was intended to trigger anyone. and it definitely was meant with the utmost love and respect. As Suho says, "Let's Love."
As offenders go, I am so far down on the list of people you should take offense by. I think your need to "set the record straight" has caused you to read my comment with bias and you are misinterpreting everything I said, subconsciously looking for a reason to find fault.

I cried the most in Suho oppa’s guide. I just can’t with my JUNMYEON oppa. The best hyung, the best leader, insanely handsome and talented, great singer, dancer, songwriter and performer,sweetest and most patient and tolerant leader. For god’s sake he is the Leader of freaking EXO. All rounded with various talents. He’s our Leadernim. He’s our guardian. He rightfully is the leader of EXO. Always loving, protecting, caring for EXO and EXOLS. EXO members are the best. Everyone of them is great and special. My EXO. As Suho says WE ARE ONE. SARANGHAJA ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥

Suho was actually supposed to debut with shinee since he trained with them and Johnny from NCT was actually expected to debut with exo since he trained with them lol
They all have their own individual sound but one's voice is as good as the next one. And altogether they sound perfect. EXO wouldn't be complete without each one of them!

Suho is the best leader for sure, and has a beautiful voice.. his album is a timeless one and classic that even a non kpopers will like it..

I feel so proud every time I watch someone react to EXO like this because I’ve heard so many times “I can’t believe all this talent is in one single group” and it just makes being an EXOL even more meaningful. There will never be another group like EXO
SUHO always praises members, promote them and their solo projects even during his own solo works. I hope and I wish the members also were like this towards their one and only precious leader. Sometimes their jokes and tease are too much. Suho is too humble and patient, he just smiles at them.
Btw Junmyeon is one of the respected idols in the industry. He's role model for juniors esp for the leaders. He's known as passionate person, golden proportion face, human harp (bcs of his soothing vocals), falsetto king (his falsettos are clean and perfect).
Even though he is the only member who came from a wealthy background, you wouldn't notice because of how humble he is and how much he takes care of his members as if they are his real siblings. His really a humble leader which I believe why the group is a humble one to begin with.
That is why EXO is my favorite ;)

Thanks RJ. Suho is a very good leader, he really takes care of the members. He can get very emotional himself, but he tries to hold it back in order to comfort other members who start crying. That concert where the "ment" part comes, usually at the end of the concert right before a final goodbye song...the ment is where all members individually express their thanks and love to the audience...sometimes goof around, laugh, tease each other, but try to act serious since it's almost the end (of a 3-hour concert)...so of course they're tired, but don't rush their comments...Suho being the leader, goes last...and the members say what they want..Suho lets them take their time. But this specific concert when Sehun was crying, was Dec. 31, 2019, New Year's Eve, last concert of the year, after a string of concerts...D.O. and Xiumin were already in the military, leaving just these 6 members touring at the time.
Suho was next to enlist in a couple months, so the babies...the maknaes, the 2 youngest members, Kai and Sehun, could not control their emotions when Suho's turn to comment came...Suho spoke of each member and what they meant to him...everyone knowing Suho leaving, and this being his last appearance with these guys...left the audience in tears, and Kai and Sehun could not control their emotions. As Suho kept talking, he would go to Kai and Sehun and hug them...and try to be a good leader, talking, praising his members, and crying a little himself. He grew up with these guys, living together for a good part of 10-12 years...until they started to buy their own homes...but yeah, that was an emotional ending of that concert. Chanyeol even prepared a video with clips of the very beginning of Exo, when they were babies, practicing, goofing off, behind the scenes, photoshoots...and Chanyeol expressed love and thanks in the video....MORE the audience cried, and the members sat down on the stage watching, crying and laughing at themselves when they were so young...geez Chanyeol...it was great. Suho's time to talk came after the applause of the video. It was so touching, I was crying a bit too. I love the bond between them. Even with members gone, Lay in China, they did their best to perform for the fans with the time they had together. Suho, I miss you. And Chen, Chanyeol and Baekhyun...I miss you too. Come back safe....Xiumin (had covid recently), please take care, get well soon. Exo, saranghae.💙🌺

No amount of video can ever justify what Suho actually is for Exo and Exo-ls . There's so much to him, even Exo-ls get surprised by his new side each time. He is soft and strong at the same time, loving and fierce at the same time, goofy and smart at the same time, fun-loving but resposible at the same time, cute and hot at the same time ! I will definitely say that if Exo could stand so strong after all these years even loosing 3 members, one of the reason is Kim Junmyeon. I always say, Exo could love Exols the most, but if there's someone who loves Exo the most, it's definitely Suho, no one can love Exo more than him, not even Exols.

His solo debut just showed that he’s a true talented performer also Suho wrote all the songs in the album and he wrote the songs Let's Love, Made In You for EXO-Ls and he gave the title his main song "Saranghaja (Let's Love)" the slogan of EXO👌 His whole album just amazing👍

Thank you for looking into the guides of all the members. Yes they are a group of 9 vocalist. Seeing them live in concert is by far one of my best experience. I was about 5-10 m away from the stage where Suho was at. He’s charismatic and has a beautiful voice. I believe the next guide would be Oh Sehun( pronounced as Say-hoon) Xiumin ( Shoo-min) and of course the dancing king Kai. Looking forward to your next reaction to EXO. 💕

Unpopular opinion but I personally prefer his deeper, more full chest voice he uses in more musical theatre songs than the falsetto or higher voice he usually uses in exo. Kpop generally prefers tenors but I’d love if they let him use his full powerful voice more because I think it’s really a strength of his.

Glad you've been getting to all the member guides; they're always so helpful for new EXO-Ls. When are you going to react to their debut song, Mama, or am I just not seeing it in your lists? Mama tends to be a polarizing song and video that people either love or hate. I'm in the love camp. The visuals are stunning, and the song will take you on a trip through MANY genres. The first 1-1/2 minutes are the origin story of EXO and its then-two teams (Korean and Chinese) and the SM Cultural Universe.
