I am impressed with the economic activities that seem to be going on in Marurui. Even the people walking all seem to have a purpose. Thanks for presenting to us this neighborhood that I had never heard of before.
I grew up in Lovington Green, and I used to go to a nearby slum called Waruku to hang out with local folks. Every expensive neighborhood in Kenya has a small slum nearby where workers come from. Also, it is a place where rich folks buy organic farm produce, mainly on weekends. My area MP, then (Fred Gumo), would wait until election day and come to Waruku and hand everyone a 50-shilling note, then disappear until the next election. His goons (Maasai Morans) were extremely violent if anyone tried to challenge him!
Fun fact people don't know, githogori and marurui are geographically in kiambu(might be wrong on marurui side, coz I can't trace the river) but the river that divides Nairobi and kiambu, is just beyond the original githogoro but due to expansion small part of githogoro is in Nairobi geographically; due to encroachment the river is almost non existent its a stream, githogoro is in kiambu geographically and in Nairobi politically
Good analysis and I really like your choice of cool & gentle sound you have chosen for this podcast simply because for me (Watching and following you from UK 🇬🇧) 3 hours difference means I can enjoy the video while getting ready.
I'm a big fun of village to town. I think Nairobi is usually overhyped. I lived in Ruiru kihunguro sometimes ago.. I would appreciate to see how the place has transformed.
Thank you for the continued suppport. We will cover it. In the meantime check our video on Ruiru town, we covered part of Kihunguro ruclips.net/video/al808LtLYpY/видео.html
@@Villagetotowntv I watched that one, I want where you started on the Ruiru video near shell Petro station, now the interior part. Sorry you didn’t show the real marurui. I live in between marurui and London. This is where high ranking people live eg lawyers and businessmen and women. Your image only featured most of Jua Kali slum. I’m not impressed by your coverage since I’m in marurui for Xmas. I love it here.

I remember githogoro ,gachagi from the other side of village market when it was surrounded by coffee plantations in the 1970s
Wow, those coffee plantations would be a sight to see now.
Ama huyu ametumwa na kasongo
I had githogoro there no title deeds n that its government land hence no MCA's to take care of the area

And have the people living there complained??? To any institution ndio useme zi upgradiwe?
Don't give that land grabber who goes by various names such as Zakayo and Kassongo ideas.
@Amwa85Ni kunjifanya mjuaji na hakuna kitu anaelewa, mwambie slum ya marurui imeshinda nyumba ruto anajenga75
You are wrong. This was a coffee estate. Githogoro sits on a parcel of land where coffee pickers used to stay.
Interesting!
You covered less than half of marurui 😅
Kwani how big is that place buana
True, arudi atembee vizuri 😅

You forget to mention even mps hukaa marurui

For your information marurui is a estate not a slum.
I like this place too much but I stay in Zimmerman ❤
Its a nice place
This may tempt Kassongo to make a land grab. He has already tried in Ruiru.
lol
