Hi Gunny, I do like your honest say it as it is reviews as a lot of people who get sent new products to review will do a biased video on them not wanting to upset the company involved but you say it as it is and I totally agree with you, I wouldn't want a light on my gun and if I can't see what I'm painting then I would have more lighting in the booth👌👍John UK

We use the lights for priming out in the darker lit shop and occasionally for basecoat. For clearcoat it is actually harder to see with the light on.

I don’t need a light on my gun to paint . But I do check my base coat with a color match light to check if I miss spots .

I taped a light to a paint gun years ago and found it a bad idea too. The light just reflects back at you. The best light is something coming across the panel so you can see the texture of the paint as is being applied.

If you remember I restore old MG’s and spray and lacquer them inside and out and I was going to buy a spraygun light for up inside footwells until I saw the price. So I purchased an led head light and just fastened it around the paint pot worked a treat. Cost me £7.85p about 15 dollars Australian.

If you need one of these then you need to get your booth lights sorted, I think some people just use them because they think it looks cool🤣

I just have a few large led spot lights that I mount around the job, so I can always see the wet edge. A moving spot light would annoy me. Rather spend my money on things that matter :-).

That was bright. Maybe a softer light with a defuser help with silver and tiger stripes. But who knows.

What's missing with all these paint gun lights is a diffuser to soften and scatter the light.
All the light panels in a spray booth are a diffused light source, not spot lights.
The company that figures this out and produces one, will do very well.

I paint large catamaran sailboats in a poorly lit shop. I have a helper hold a 4' led light beside me so I can see the reflection of the light on the surface. A movable stand for the light will work as well.

Most realistic painter. Most of them blindly follow trends. Tried it once just as you say I saw less with it. Nothing beats muscle memory from years of painting.

Love your no BS honest reviews man. Never used one but I guess for painting inside interiors of vans, race cars with roll cages there could be a use but that's a very limited market. How heavy are they... That would be my concern also. Even watching you paint with it reminded me of driving in fog with full beam on 😬

Thanks for all of the great content mate! Love the honest reviews. Wondering what your opinion would be on the best gun for hobby use would be to do both basecoat and clear? I sadly don't have the budget for multiple guns but could stretch a bit if there is a gun that will do both reasonably well. Cheers mate!

GPi is probably your best bet. It also has an option to get a larger needle and tip. Actually they call it gpg now. But check this out

i'm just a hobbyist and got intrigued by attaching lights to the gun. I rigged up a light on my gun to try it but took it off right away. Being so close to the paint there was just too much glare and like you said actually makes it harder to see. To each their own I guess but shame on them for thinking you'd give them a golden review just because they sent you something for free. Guess I'm just a grumpy old man but I think I would have just sent it back after they complained LOL.

It makes it so much more difficult to see what is going on due to the moving glare.
Regular booth lights do an excellent job, I couldn't imagine a need for this product.

I bought a rechargeable LED headlamp from Harbor Freight to use on the gun cup, thinking I needed the extra light to see the wet edge in a makeshift carport/paint booth. Wrong! It does add some light, but not enough to make a difference. I can't imagine paying loads of money for one made just for that purpose. A better investment is LED light strips to light up the entire booth, although it adds the issue of attracting bugs at night.

I have one of the new model SunPro for my Sata 5000. I really like it for my basecoats, clear coats I put it on low mode (softer light). I picked up some of the new Luma spray guns as well, pretty good setup for a decent price. Seems like the light isnt for everyone, guess Im just a trendy twat for liking mine.

I agree these gun lights are pretty useless in a well lit spray booth as they create too much glare. I normally just use my Metabo SLA cordless LED inspection light if I'm spraying poorly lit door shuts or whatever. Gun in one hand light in the other. Gives a bright yet diffused light that doesn't glare 👍

stupid thing about other company 500 dollars for light on the gun, in my country 120 cm descent ip65 led lights approx 20-30 dollar, 10 units around cost you around 300. 50-70 bucks good hunting head light, and 50 dollar portable directional lamp and you still spend less. I have luma 2 for once, and its terrible expressly for white and light color, you will see overspray better then panel :DDD
