What a place that is. Wow, living the dream at full throttle and I love to see the longer videos even though they require more effort I am sure. I have to say that I would never carry so much gear and prefer to travel light and fast with the basics - you seem to carry a LOT of gadgets but it seems to work for you. I Like your positive and "can do" attitude. Sailor is a fantastic girl and I like her calm focus and humour. You both compliment each other well and have good vibe going and show patience with each other which counts for a lot when on the road. I love your bike set up.👍

That was very explaining! Bike tools & spare part storaging was space saving, new solar panel is interesting, though I have same as your old Sunbeam panel, keeping it! Why not a helmet? The narration has become very much better, thank you! Keep on doing that lifestyle!🎉

Clothes: Roll up attire into a compact roll and place into packing cubes (which the consumer can also get in different colors to find/grab the right cube for clothing). Also, for inflatable sleeping pads, I have an additional light weight ground tarp placed on the inside floor of a tent to help prevent any unwanted punctures from happening to the inflatable sleeping pad. I also have a light weight bike cover (prevent bikes from rain or snow; get on dry bikes to ride). There are a ton of ongoing new innovations especially from the bicycling and or camping industries. Goal for Bike Tourists by common sense: Light Weight and Compact.
Another important factor when traveling by bike...getting good nutrition.

If you happen to use bike helmets, there is a bike helmet sun visor brim that can be attached to it. (however, kind of pricey).
Hi thanks for the tips. There was enough space for clothes in the panniers also we use the clothes around some of our equipments as protection like our hard drives. Sleeping pad: i ( peyman) find an air pad annoying and time consuming since every day i need to inflate and deflate. Have been sleeping for at lest 8 years on my current z lite pad so i don’t see a reason to replace it. But as we mentioned in the video sleeping pad is personal. Cycling camping industries innovations: yes there is a lot of good innovations but also alot of new stuff being made every year because they only need to come up with new idea’s to sell stuff. It looks like your bags are hanging quite high. Maybe you should have a look at the "Old Man Mountain devide". It is a rack which can be fittet either at the rear or the front, has a platform and can also be mounted on the axels directly which is very stable. The racks are very stable as well. This should bring your center of gravity down and are excelent racks in general.
Hi, thanks for the Tip. Indeed i know the rack and have studied that. I really like and want to my panniers to be higher. It is very important for us when cycling off-roads. The bike feels very stable . It could habe been a bit different if i had narrow tires. But the control i have on the bike with this setup even in single tracks is perfect for me 😊/ peyman

Yes 😅indeed Sailor and I both do rock climbing and we will have some climbing and cycling mix trips in future 🤩

Got a question for you: Since you have so much experience, do you think packing light for a long bike tour is worth it? My guess is that by bringing less you'd have an easier time pedaling, but you'll miss on some items that could make your travel more comfortable
Hi, this is a good question and has very long answer actually. I will record a video about similar topic in the future. But regarding ur question a short answer can be this: 1. I don’t recommend anyone to go light or heavy because it is the trend now. So nowadays going lightweight became a trend unfortunately. 2. I think everyone needs to test different setups and equipments and find the right one which fits them. 2. I do not recommend to buy super light equipments since often those are expensive and don’t last ( but there is always exceptions like Gates Belt drive) 3.i don’t recommend to go heavy but also take the equipments which you need. Often the best way of going lighter is to try to have one gear so you can use it fir different tasks so you don’t need to have one gear for each task. 4. If you go for short trip being light is more important than long trip since on a ling trip your body will get fit and you eon’t care how heavy is ur bike after few months. 5. Don’t go straight away to bikepacking setup. Test traditional pannier set up and bikepacking setup also so choose the set up you like. But don’t go for it since it is trendy. Bikepacking setup can be difficult to pack and unpack every day in a long tour.

@@NomadsTrails @elpretender1357 I have no experience of long bike journeys so far. But I would emphasise point 5 from my own experience. I also bought bikepacking bags because it was trendy. Of course it looks cool and it's light and aerodynamic. But bikepacking bags are awkward to pack and awkward to mount on the bike. That gets on my nerves after a few days, I was even annoyed after one night. When you arrive at the campsite in the evening, maybe it's already dark, you're tired and hungry and just want to set up the tent quickly, then everything is ten times as annoying as usual. And even more so if you have to do it every day on a long journey. That's why I went back to the pannier rack and panniers, they're just so much more practical. I now only use bikepacking bags on my road bike when I want to travel light and fast and stay in accommodation without a tent.
Just a short question: Why do you use mechanical disc brakes over hydraulic ones?
It us easy to maintain, works better than hydrolic ( pistones gers stuck with hydrolic often in the conditions i cycle). Less spare parts needed, the power is more than enough 😊/ peyman
hi there. you do not need that hand air blower for your camera. You can use the bicycle pump. Neither have air filter, so they are at the same dirtiness level.

Thanks for the tips. The issue with any water filter, being used few times a week in long tour is: drying the filter. It is very difficult to dry the filter and when that filter stays wet for many months (being used 3 or 4 times in a week) gets contaminated. Will test the ND filters at some point. In Kenya you you are not allowed really use a drone.
@@NomadsTrails BeFree is the easiest filter to clean. Simply shake or swish. To shake, fill a bladder with fresh water, screw on the filter, and shake to clean the membrane. To swish, remove the filter from the water bladder/bottle and dip just the membrane portion in any fresh water source and swish it around.. the filter is always in the water .. i only ever dry a filter when i puting away for long term storage
@Bikepacking thanks, the issue with all these filters are when you don’t dry it for few months and keep using it a few times in a week, the filter gets moldy or contaminated. And in a style of our cycling it is very, very difficult to dry it. These filters work well in some conditions (mainly emergency) but a daily use is a different story. I have used many different kind of filters during 4 years of cycling in Africa. But we will see for the next adventure. I will come up with an idea. I don’t want to buy mineral water bottles always. Too much plastics. / Peyman 😊

Hi, We never will quit adventures and cycling. We are preparing for a very big project which will start at the Jan 2025 and that takes a lot of preparations. Meanwhile we have one cycling project in Europe. Also we need to go back for some months so we can edit the videos and publish those. It is really difficult to do the editing work on the road/ Peyman & Sailor ❤️

LOL I like MSR but I hate that they do not include important stuff with gear, ie no fuel bottle with dragonfly or whisperlite, nor maintenance kit. The MSR Hubba Hubba, does not come with footprint, honestly MSR is annoying lol
Indeed would be nice the expedition kit to cone with the stove but also the price of stove is much lover compare to other stoves. Regarding foot print you can just use any waterproof tarp from gardening shops 😊
Does anybody know if Velotraum bikes can be purchased in the U.S.?
Velotraum is a German bike manufacture. They don’t have dealer in US but just email them and ask. I guess should’t be an issue to send a bike to USA. German DHL works good and it is not so expensive 😁
How many days food you can carry
Around 3 days, but only food I needed bigger panniers for water.
@@NomadsTrails I was curious about your provisions for sustenance during your remote adventures. Personally, I prefer to carry a 10-day supply of food to extend my stays without needing to resupply. In arid regions, I tote anywhere from 8.5 to 14 liters of water. Packing essentials like four-season apparel, sleep gear, along with camera equipment, drones, editing tools, batteries, and solar panels is quite the challenge, especially without relying on panniers. But can be done.. keep up the good work

Thanks, but he hasn’t been in Africa if i am right. Conditions in Africa are a bit different than Arctic. Actually we stay in forest in the Arctic every autumn for one months or more but we ever carry any water filter. We drink from rivers and lakes 😊

@@chrismade123 our speed is low, it is one more thing to carry, definitely it would boil my (Peyman) brain, i would forget it some where ( very likely a restaurant) in couple of days, these are just fee reasons. From other hand there is risks of not wearing it. we don’t want to encourage anyone not wear helmet so we just don’t like to talk about Helmet topic publicly because of this. 😊
When I see all you need to take with you for making youtube videos ... I am glad I don't! All that extra gear I don't have to take with me. So now I can take my drawing and watercolour materials with me
Hi,indeed recording and editing equipments are heavy. But all jobs takes time and actually costs a lot 😅. So we do it because we love it and also it is our work, but like in all work fields, we don’t recommend this for everyone for sure 😊
Some mixed review...electronics, clothes, electronics and then again clothes and the other mixed things.

@SonofRobinson-lo5qo yes indeed that would be really nice 🙌, but we record these video while touring so we don’t pack all the electronics in one place and clothes in another place. To be honest we just recorded this video in a way that it would give also an idea how we pack our stuff 😅. But thanks for the tip we will keep in mind ❤
