    I like that you could see what you were painting in this video. Some of the other videos the scenery is barely visible. When the scenery is visible, I can see how you are interpreting the colors; and how you adjust them as well. ;-)

      Great feedback Fran, I've made a note thank you! sometimes the sun position makes me have to face my easel another way, or the camera as well, so the viewer doesnt see wash out on my canvas...frustrating.. but..next video I'll try to do it like this one here if possible. Do the smaller "screen in screen" photos of the subject that you see pop up periodically help any ? or do you prefer the live view of the scene that you are talking about here, or both....😁

      @@LearningPleinAir The pop ups help somewhat, but they are rather brief; that makes them less effective. Maybe if they stayed on the screen longer. I understand about the sunlight, though. Painting plein air certainly has it's challenges. I'm very impressed that you paint in very cold conditions, by the way. Love the snow paintings the most, but they're all good.

      ok gotcha, thanks Fran I really appreciate any feedback you can offer, its important for viewers to see what Im painting so I'll remember when filming to make that extra effort. Yes I agree, the snow is my favorite time to paint, especially with mountains, it just makes it so fun. Happy painting! 😁

      Hey Teresa! , ha..YES. I carry bear spray, fortunately I have not seen one close up while painting, but I've seen them across the river or valley from afar. Thank you for watching and i'm glad you liked the painting and the view, it was so incredibly peaceful there. 😊

    I struggle with the freezing temperatures and how it impacts the flow of the paint. Do you ever have this experience with the paint being so thick and cold it doesn’t go on as well?

    • @LearningPleinAir
      @LearningPleinAir  2 года назад +2

      Hi William yes absolutely I encounter that same problem frequently..a couple thoughts, don’t be afraid to put the paint on thick and messy even tho it’s not easy , when it dries it creates interesting textures and a unique mood that people may appreciate, if you are close to the car run back to the car and turn the heater on and warm up for 10 minutes with your pallet, otherwise use lots of odorless turp AND medium to keep the paint as juicy as you can , thanks for watching take care, 👍🎨

      I watch you painting in the snow and think Wow!!! Why am I waiting till milder temperatures when I could bundle up and go have fun. 😆. I’m in Central Piedmont are of North Carolina do we don’t get much snow. But I do go several times a year to our beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. I told my din to put the HPS tracking on me and just key me hi paint... then he could keep track of my location if I get lost. Thanks again for all of you inspiring videos and for taking time to consider that new Plein Air artists like me are watching. I learn from each video.

      Ha ha that’s so great I love your enthusiasm for plein air painting it is the most peaceful rewarding experience I definitely support your decision to go paint in colder temperatures in the Blue Ridge Mountains some of the most beautiful paintings are done in cloudy cold weather, I think you would love the snow and all the amazing colors. I appreciate you watching and commenting very much and if you’re struggling with something or want to give advice on my next video I would gladly except it please take care God bless

      that's a huge compliment thanks Angela! Yes I agree, we spend $200 on things that won't change our lives every week.. but improving our art certainly can
