My dad would have us give about 1/2 of our candy away… letting us choose the candies we kept… then we’d go to the children’s wing of the hospital and give out candy to the sick kids who didn’t get to trick or treat… I always really loved doing that and it made the kids so happy I didn’t mind giving up my candy… I doubt they would allow that today but this was in the late 1980s when things were different…
Such a great recipe for leftover candy! My mom tends to buy leftover candy on clearance after Halloween but it often isn't all eaten. I would definitely make this for a good dessert so no candy gets wasted!
These sound great however I would have preferred if the caramel set a bit harder as it’s quite messy. Flavour wise, you can’t go wrong. Thanks for the recipe and review.
A tip if you’re don’t have any Dulce de Leche but do have cans of sweetened condensed milk: Remove the label from your can and place in a large pot. Fill with water until the cans are covered with 1-2 inches of water. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer. You’ll be cooking this for 2-3 hours, less time for a lighter caramelization and vice versa. Basically the can is acting as a pressure cooker so and the water is keeping the temperature constant. Keep an eye on your pot and add water as needed, for best results you want the cans submerged.
I couldn’t wait for Halloween leftovers to try this recipe 😂! I used peanut butter m&ms, snickers, Twix, and Kit Kats. My family liked these. They are rich. A small piece is enough!😊
I miss trick or treating, since it'd give me loads of free baking material! My last haul was 15 pounds of candy... (I covered a LOT of ground that halloween!) I was making a looooot of candy-filled treats for quite a bit! 😜
When I was 15 I took my neighbor trick or treating… she was 5 but both her parents were working… every house we stopped at gave me candy as well just for being nice and talking her… her parents wanted to pay me but I wouldn’t let them… I had too much fun… lol
@@emilybilbow4990 You think 15 is too old to go out? I was trick or treating until I graduated high school! 😂 Nobody really batted an eye. In fact, people were glad that there were still people out trick or treating... Too many kids think they're too "cool" for it these days!
I feel like people always act like there’s a deadline to eat Halloween candy lol. When I was growing up we week allowed to eat candy 2/3 times a week. Our candy would last until early next year!!

That’s so sweet of your mom 💕
Oooh, even the tiny bags of pretzels could be repurposed here too! YUMMY!
You are right!!

We have done this and it’s delicious.
We’ve made a similar recipe several times. As long as it doesn’t have mint in it, most chocolate bars are fair game. Fun video!
I wouldn’t want mint either!

I love your choice of candy!
Looks good
Yum! Fun treats🥰
Thank you 😋

I was always disappointed when time was up for trick-or-treating.

We were allowed to eat as much as we wanted whenever we wanted. We allowed Andrew and Ashley to do the same.
@@TamiDunn we ate other desserts on other days, so no sugar shortage 😂
@@TamiDunn I don't understand parents who let their kids go trick or treating and then make them give it away or they throw it away Why bother then?
these sound delicious 😅
Thank you 😋
I have mate this récupérer too that True that very hard but delicious
Made this recipe l mean
I’m glad you made it!!
@@TamiDunn thanks to you
Thank u
You are welcome 🤗
I wonder if that dulce is like cooking a can of condensed milk to make a caramel? Probably 😁
Yes! It is!
Those look and sound amazing!! I would definitely make those.
Thank you!
This would be dangerous for me! I can’t be trusted, half the pan gone! 😂 What a delicious recipe! Thanks so much for the recipe and review.
If it got past the pan and on the counter or in the fridge, that would be a win. I usually can't get past the mix for half of it...

Thank you so much!!
Neat idea, but seems like a lot of work to just repurpose some perfectly good candy 🤷♂️
I shared some with my sister and she loved them 😃
I would be eating as I go. LOL
