The Maye of Ibadan Land baba kèèpè fuun wa Sir One of the greatest historical of our time I can never tired of watching the interviews of the high chief Lekan Alabi
Chief Lékan Àlàbí is always on fireline. A contemporary being; an encyclopedia of new generation. Mr Edmund Obilo, thank you for the classical class(es).
These salient points are factors that Nigeria mighty custodians of power seek to banish from history classes, books and education. That's why Nigeria banned history from our schools.
You are doing a great job here. I just come across this channel today and find this pattern very interesting. Well done. Thanks for the book recommendations.
Back in secondary school..I had why we struck...I read it as a teenager buh now I'm willing to read as an adult....I will contact you sir...I need these books
Edmund Obilo Your guest Chief Lekan Alabi explained that the Murtala Mohammed led coup was described as “Araba” meaning “Revenge”, but he didn’t tell us Ademoyega’s response to his question, why there were no Northerners in the Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu led coup.
Aguyi Ironsi souronded himself with northern soldiers even one Bello Sani one of his ADC said in one of his interview that most of the army in Ironsi entourage were all captured how can and himself Ironsi Fajuyi Adekunle was taken the the bush and one army man came to rescue him away leaving Ironsi and Adekunle behind but he later hear a gun shot why they were driving away 😢so sad
Fajuyi was a target of the coupists from get-go because his adherence to Awo's political ideology wasnt hidden. So the fact that Nzeogwu on his broadcast had expressed their intention to release Awo from prison and install him as the prime minister made Fajuyi a suspect. Besides, by the time the revenge coup was carried out the northern soldiers didn't trust any south officer as it wasn't clear who the January 6 ploters were apart from the ones being detained. For yet another thing, the January cuop was widely welcomed in the western region as it brought a respite to the political upheaval that bedeviled the western region. So, it's untrue that the government House Ibadan assailants were there to pick up Ironsi only, and that Fajuyi volunteered to follow them for fear that he mighty be accused of betraying Ironsi. He never was given that choice at all. And he couldn't have been able to escape even if he had attempted to.
The coup favored the West than the East. The transfer of power from Zik to Micheal Okpara was peaceful but the transfer of power from Awolowo to Akintola was marred by conflicts, power strong and control of coca-cola distributorship. This conflict led to the death of each of their first child. The conflict led to “operation wetie” and also the imprisonment of Awolowo. Many people are blind to history and facts in Nigeria

But on the other side how can a heads of state doesn't have any informert,no body signals no spiritual back and you are leading a nation so painful 😭😭

Fajuyi and Ironsi has no estate or even a plot of land anywhere in Nigeria or overseas. Both Fajuyi and Ironsi borrowed money from their friends and institutions to provide food on their family table while they are top military officers who are on the helm of the affairs for some years before their death.

Edmund, you asked a question, but you did not allow the chief to answer. The question was, why were there no northerners involved in the first coup of 1966?
It was northern officers nzogwu used in storming amadu bello house, he deceived them by telling the young officers that they are going out for military exercise.

Ojukwu travelled down to Kaduna, encouraged Kaduna Nzeogu to surrender power to Aguyi Irosi since Irosi had the same intention the Coupists had, not knowing that Ojukwu had ulterior motive against the Coupists Though agreement was made between Ojukwu and Nzeogu to tender to Irosi that those involved shouldn't be maltreated and to compensate, both Irosi and Ojukwu played on Nzeogu intelligence. Nzeogu landed in the midst of Heavy Ammunitions and was arrested. The young officer who shot Aguiyi Ironsi was by the name William Walbe and he later became aide-de-camp (adc) to Yakubu Gowon.. After the arrest of Aguiyi Ironsi and Adekunle Fajuyi, Ty Danjuma was to lead the squad back to Lagos but on their way back he dicided the group split into two, leaving Ironsi and Fajuyi with Walbe. But a few kilometers into the journey Walbe diverted into the bush. Fajuyi, Ironsi and Usman who was Ironsi's aide-de-camp had their hands tied behind their backs. The young officers led by walbe stripped Ironsi and Fajuyi naked and flogged them severally to confess their part in the assassination of the northern political elites and senior officers but Ironsi couldn't bear the humiliation from the NCOs anymore so he refused to talk anymore. At this point Usman who was the aide-de-camp to Ironsi managed to untie himself and ran away. At this point Walbe pointed his gun at Ironsi and shot him also Fajuyi... But murtala Muhammed insisted that Ironsi and Fajuyi were never marked to be killed but rather to be interrogated for the coup originally plotted by Emmanuel Ifeajuna, Kaduna Nzeogu, christian Anuforo, Humphrey chukwuka,, ogbonna Oji, Donatus Okafor and Ademoyega..... Why are these clowns talking like Aguiyi Ironsi did not even deserve more than what he got? It is even better when they read books written by their tribes men. However there are book by some Igbo officers who were a part of the coup plotters namely Ben Gbulie and Emmanuel Nwaobosi
Ironsi knew about the Jan coup so also most Igbos political leaders especially Zik. Unfortunately Ironsi became upset and had to organize a suppression of that coup for breech of understanding he had with the Coupist not to shed blood as we was made to believe. It was never an Igbo coup in planning but became an Ignorant coup in execution. Of all the victims that were murdered only Akintola resisted arrest. Their actions that night plunged this country which effect reverberates till date.
Zik was not in the country for three months before the coup happened, the West was at war, Awolowo and Akintola was at war which led to the death of Awolowo first child in a fake car accident in 1963 and retaliatory killing of Akintola first child by drug overdose in 1965. Akintola conspired with Belewa to imprison Awolowo. The military intervened to get rid of the corrupt politicians destroying the country. The East had peace, Micheal Okpara was delivering and performing amazingly and fortunately for him on the day of the coup he had a British bishop visiting at his home, so the Bishop knew about the coup? Carry your beer parlor history and get out of here.
So, you blame the Nzogou coup as the Nigerian problem but you ignore the fact that your North has had power for more than 40 plus years out of 60 plus years. Why are these clowns talking like Aguiyi Ironsi did not even deserve more than what he got? Yes, Muritala had planned a coup after he had received pressure from the Northern paramount rulers but what transpired that particular day wasn't Murtala's coup, It all started in Abeokuta and Murtala lashed into the situation.
Did murtala deserve what he got from Dimka?
@@tochukwuokeke5348 Aguiyi Ironisi destroyed this country, he partook in the first coup and destroyed the structure of this country. He removed us from Parliamentary system of Government and also changed it to Centralized system of Government against the regional system were had and he did all this because of greed. If there was no coup, the foolish man called Obasanjo will not bring Federalism on board. Aguiyi Ironsi is the worst Leader in Nigeria history or i can give you OBJ. In Murtala case, he never touched the essence of Nigeria, infact Murtala is the best ruler Nigeria has ever had. When he was killed, it was not only his tribe that mourned him, the Hausa, Yoruba, some South South states e.g the then Bendel states mourned him. They came on the streets of Nigeria to mourn him. This is the only past ruler that has been mourned that way.
@@tochukwuokeke5348 Good question my brother. Ask him oh! All this was situation was a spill over of Awolowo vs Akintola's saga. Wetia situation was the straw that broke camel's back. Nzeogwu was just a patriotic young officer.
@@NonsoOkoye-pe4rfexactly, Awolowo and Akintola conflict and tussle for power led to “operation wetie” and the coup. Those soldiers intervened to bring peace but little did they know that their efforts will be turned and read as ethnically motivated. The West had more to gain in that coup and I find it funny that Ademoyega a Western soldier and the highest ranking officer amongst the coup planners who could have stopped the coup is rarely mentioned. Hypocrisy
@@Live_IT_It's intentional...
Absurdity. Mind games and white washing won't the facts about Nigeria. The time to sit and part to our various destinations is now. " THIS HOUSE HAS FALLEN"
What a moron? Could not keep keep himself alive. His memory will forever live infamy. Yes why did he not prosecute the misguided nzegwu group?
Again this man is giving the opposition side, but the truth was that when Akintola meet Ahmadu Bello he told him there was going to be coup and they will be killed so they should run away to Nigeir, Ahmadu Bello told him if they ran away how about their people, so he should go back and have faith in God.
That's a pure lie! Akintola was never a coward like that to advice running away from such. He died gallantly, fought and even deployed weapon before gunned down. So, stop the nonsense!
How will SLA a whole Aare ona kakanfo of yorubaland suggest they flee to Niger, that’s a big lie. Akintola is the only person that died a warrior, the saduana of sokoto was caught hiding his face among his wives wearing a hijab to cover his face. These are well documented in books
@@emmanymatthew2539 That's right, and he wasn't even a military man!
@@Obalufon don’t mind him. SLA brought out a riffle and he shot if he hadn’t ran out of bullet, he would have taken down capt Nwaobosi that was sent to kill him. Capt Nwaobosi even had to hide and wait for his bullet to finish before he came out to kill SLA. This is the account of Justice Kayode Eso who was a neighbor of SLA…
@@ObalufonAkintola that killed Awolowo first child in a planned car accident bah? Awolowo that Yoruba mob tried everything to killed and drove a six inch nail into his confidants forehead? Read about “Operation Wetie” you people don’t know anything
But Igbos said Yorubas are betrayals. It is because they don't know history of the past
Have you ever seen any IGBO man laying down his life for his Yoruba friend? The problem with the IGBOS is that they never take responsibility
Please stick to now and leave old news.

@@oghogho_jacinta really! I wonder how it has helped you or your kind men? Or you would rather keep creating unrest? Tell me can you get Britain and America to address slavery as it’s better to deal from the roots line you said? Clueless person as you talk and write from your a@se
useless and ignorant statement.

@@chidiraphael939 it’s a shame when one who thinks like you do addresses everyone with a certain gender!! Ignorance is a big problem in your neck of residence. When a child is named, the gender comes with the name and the fathers name comes last but you ibos pretend not to want the foreign names but now uses it as their last name. Your first name is Raphael and your last name is Chidi ??? Be careful and stop making a fool of yourself . Last time I check, I have the right to express myself with out fools butting in! You get my drift? Drifter !!!
Didn’t igbos write any book about Nigerian pre and post war history? Why recommending only books written by those who accuse igbos of the coup for reading and learning? Is your audience only the Yorubas? And if yes, why have you chosen to feed them with biased history and lies? Thank you.
It is even better when they read books written by their tribes men. However there are book by some Igbo officers who were a part of the coup plotters namely Ben Gbulie and Emmanuel Nwaobosi
Stop distorting history
Can this guy talk normal please
Ironsi knew about the Jan coup so also most Igbos political leaders especially Zik. Unfortunately Ironsi became upset and had to organize a suppression of that coup for breech of understanding he had with the Coupist not to shed blood as we was made to believe. It was never an Igbo coup in planning but became an Ignorant coup in execution. Of all the victims that were murdered only Akintola resisted arrest. Their actions that night plunged this country which effect reverberates till date.
Yours is a beer palour history. There are tons of books that could bulge you of ignorance.
This tribalism will not lead you ordinary northerners anywhere, in fact, with all the power your politicians have acquired, your region still remains the poorest in Nigeria. Nawa for una o
