Either the temple management is extremely negligent and did not learn any lesson from the previous incident and improve fire prevention SOP. Or someone is really determined to burn down the place. 2 fires in 4 months at the same place, extremely fishy...

Fire hazard guy (whoever is in charge of the candles and all) definitely needs to change something starting from keeping lit candles away from flammables, in a hard to "accidentally knock over" position and situation (e.g not windy enough to knock over candles)

It's a real congested and lighted place to be in at times. Unless corrective/preventive action is taken immediately, another fire is hardly a surprise.
Is this an omen? There will be challenges that can bring extensive damages if not immediately controlled. The incense and oil burners for devotees should not be inside the Temple. The light inside the Temple is for the Altar. C'mon, any Fengshui will tell you that excessive incense and oil burners attracts too much Fire element. Your goddess Guan Yin statue should be standing on the Lotus, and there should be water surrounding the Lotus.
100 over years of so call Temple of Penang ...how do this happen, when ? And how come? Believer or not, this Place Of Worship can only be destroyed by Nuke !
Thank you to Jabatan Penyelemat dan Bomba for your swift action. Since this is a highly trafficked, major tourist attraction and important place, there should be a fire safety review done every year by proffesionals and bomba. More portable fire extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants and maybe even sprinkler systems should be installed. Don't wait till major tragedy to strike before taking action.
