It’s difficult when you teach your kids about not celebrating Halloween and your spouse is ok with it. A divided house is a nightmare itself, it’s like hell
Big Vinny I can relate to that. My unsaved spouse disagreed with my objection to Halloween, but grudgingly accepted my Christian views in not allowing the children to participate.

No doubt, I’m fighting my wife consistently on issues surrounding Christmas and such... Thankfully, Halloween is one that we agree on, but she is just too stuck in her traditions of mankind to accept those of God... Thankfully, our son, he follows me... At least I’ve reached him...
M. Clark perhaps if you only eat Christmas Eve with her and give out only books as gifts your spouse would be moved. My friends and family thought I was a legalistic Adventist who would not even say thank you when someone would say merry Christmas. But you know, my child was stuck in the hospital from the 16th of December til March, and we had to stay at the Ronald McDonald’s house and spend Christmas with many families. They fed us and had many gifts for us immediately as they showed us to our room. People were honestly celebrating Jesus and trying so hard to smile in their hardest times. Long story short, I will never scold anyone for being different. I have never put a tree in my house, I know all about Christmas pagan origins so I only give out books- but my heart was changed by the Lord in realizing that I must fight evil with good and when you do that people start changing and their hearts soften. My mother now will only put lights on a tree, nothing else. And my aunts only gift clothes! People will be transformed by seeing Jesus in your heart.
It's about being set apart, and not touching the unclean thing.
I refuse to participate period. I go to my room and turn all the lights off.

Here we are hiding in a dark room while everyone is having fun not realizing it is an evil holiday. Very symbolic! Well, I do not turn my lights off inside the house anymore. I just do not use any decorations outside and I turn the outside lights off. It works most of the time and when it does not, I just do not open the door.
I understand that you do not want to celebrate Halloween, but instead of shutting yourself inside could you not use this time to evangelize to the people who come to your door? You could be giving out small toys with Bible verses attached, or something like that. Getting to know your neighbors as a way to open the door to possibly sharing your testimony is a good thing.
@@BexD3090 I agree..I wouldn't give toys, nor candy. just pamphlets adult and kid friendly alike..for the parents and children. We pass up way to many opportunities to witness. We SDAs have tunnel vision when it comes to witnessing

What are our schools good for? Or what does it serve you to not know the root of your information? There's nothing original about the KJV. They wont teach you Greek, Hebrew, or Aramic so you know what you're actually reading. God said the seventh Day. He never said repetitious ritualistic worship on a day named after a Pagan Diety. The Gregorian calendar didn't exist during Jesus's day. And the Hebrew Calendar was lunar-Solar based.

Well said Pastor Doug! Every year, my family and I love to carve a pumpkin of Jesus with a sign that says “Jesus loves you”. We’ve received such good feedback from families, and give pamphlets away. The way I see it, it is the only time of year people are willingly going to your door! Why not tell them about our beautiful Lord and Savior?
We pass out pamphlets in English & Spanish about the Sabbath, the 10 commandments and the state of the dead w/the candy. 2 pcs of candy w/3 different pamphlets. We 🙏🙏🙏 God guides the literature to find its way into open hearts.
Unfortunately,i used to vigorously celebrate this holiday 😢When i worked,my coworkers & i would invest time &money shopping for the most gruesome or sleeziest costumes...wear them to work ,go out afterwards and engage in the wicked festivities. There were many of times when i ignored the warnings of the Holy Spirit telling me not too do this. Just because we are raised a certain way(me..sda)does not exempt us from temptation and yielding to it😢...I knew it was wrong.Praise God He never gives up on us.I continued to celebrate this day....however i had minimized the costumes&festivities quite a bit...my excuse was to continue this tradition for "my daughter"...(the devil really knows how to con us)...By the Grace of God...2 years ago i completely stopped celebrating halloween....the Lord was able to get through&i was truly convicted.

I redeemed my family about this. My husband likes to celebrate it and 7 yrs i prayed for it. What we do now is i showed real documentaries about halloween and now my kids are now educated about this. I give them bibilical truths. And during the night we go to wegmans and give them money and buy their own candy. My husband and kids are now advocate on not celebrating Halloween. Praise Jesus! Glory to God!

When I was in school, I didn't realize how much the people around me were actually into Pagan worship and the occult and some of the girls were witches. The thing that caught me my attention was the fact that they looked like everyday normal people.

@@mryup6100 Giving out candy is not a good idea for me unfortunately. My 2 kids have health issues and neither of them can have sweets. Sugar is not good to eat even for healthy children. I know that after Halloween there is usually a sharp rise in viral and bacterial illnesses (colds, strep, flu). Sugar lowers the resistance to viruses and bacteria. I cannot give out candy knowing it is bad for them.
I never liked Halloween. The devil has been attacking for years even before i was Christian.

Last year I said to some mothers at my former church that the church was no place for Halloween celebrations and parties because it is the devil’s holiday. They still had their annual party anyway. I prayed that they would quit having their Halloween party this year but I just found out today that they’re still having it. 🤦🏼♀️ This is one of many reasons why I quit going to that church.

We don’t believe in celebrating Halloween at our church either but as a kid we were allowed to wear our costumes to school. As long as it wasn’t scary.

Not many but the world was not as evil then either or maybe it was but for us Halloween was just a day to get some candy or take a little break from the everyday life.

It seems very stupid to me to tell your child to watch for strangers don't take candy from strangers stay away from them cuz they might kidnap you and then you send them out the strangers homes to get candy
Well technically they would have adult supervision so. .
Hence that is why they say you should only send them supervised, homes of neighbors and friends.

The evangelist, Lee Venden, said to stay right away from Halloween. "Have nothing to do with any of it!" He gave a presentation that touched on it, and gave examples of some of the experiences he's had with the occult ; terrifying stuff!! What he had to say convinced me that it is a night /celebration we should avoid completely!

There cannot be a balanced approach to evil. you are either in or out, you can't sit on the fence and try to dance around it so as to not upset the world. Halloween is wrong, period. As Christians we are to have no part in it. There is no record of the apostles going to pagan events to pass out tracts or have any involvement in any measure. My neighbors all decorate for Halloween and pass out treats. I do not!

The New Year in the Bible if I'm correct is sometime in March which makes sense the New Year's starts in Spring then comes summer, fall and the year ends in winter.

Do not be overcomed by evil but overcome evil with good. Do not celebrate Halloween but love the people that do celebrate it and be a light that shines a midst of moral darkness and be an example.
As Christians we should have NOTHING to do with it. We should pray against all the witchcraft. We should have nothing to do with the devils. Put a sign on your door “JESUS IS KING” abstain from all appearances of evil. We have no fellowship with darkness. Don’t acknowledge the day at all. Amen

I must tell you though, if you’re worried about giving cavities to children with candy then you might want to skip raisins too! They’re as sticky as candy and can actually cause as many cavities as skittles. The key is good oral hygiene! Parents hopefully make sure their kids are brushing thoroughly!

When I was in Kindergarten my parents didn't let me go Trick or Treating because of its association with witches and ghosts. But at the time I didn't understand what was bad about that, because at that time I only knew a witch as an imaginary woman who flew on a broom and a ghost as a person under a white blanket. I was upset when I saw the kids in the neighborhood doing it, and my friends from the Adventist school I attended also got to do it. The next year my parents let me do it because they saw it wasn't leading me astray or giving me nightmares. The question shouldn't be, "Should we celebrate Halloween?" Rather we should ask ourselves "Will this Holiday lead us astray?" "Would giving candy or some other treat be harmful to the kids?" "Would dressing in a costume turn you away from Christ?" "Would having a party and calling it a Fall Festival be like Pagan worship of the dead?" "Would forbidding your kids from going Trick or Treating make them better Christians?"

I won't even eat the food that had been prepared via potluck in celebration of Halloween. It's food offered unto idols. Some many say I'm doing too much, but those are my convictions. "I think it's one of the holidays Christians ought to avoid" isn't an express "No". Our SDA leaders need to have a firm stance and be clear. This is an obvious pagan celebration along with Christmas and Easter. Just like man cannot make another day holy (i.e sunday) we cannot plaster Jesus over a pagan tradition as an excuse to celebrate. Using the excuse "we're using that time to reach people" doesn't cut it (a la Christmas). It only creates more confusion among us, just as satan wants. Those of weaker faith battling with all the secular temptations, that's all they need to hear and will justify pursuing their desires rather than the will of Our Father in Heaven. When you're in love with someone, you do the MOST for the person you're in love with, not the bare minimum just to maintain the relationship. Regardless of your personal desires, you go above and beyond to make the person you're in love with happy. Are SDA's in love with Jesus or are we just another denomination, doing nominal things? What happened to the idea of being separate, a remnant people?

The people in the comments sound very unhappy. My family is Christian and we participate in Halloween. Are we worshipping evil? Absolutely not. We know what's in our hearts is what matters.

We should not celebrate it period. I personally don’t celebrate anything, yes not even Christmas. I believe Christ should b born in our hearts every day and we should give thanks every day and also appreciate what others do for us every day, in other words, it should be a daily celebration. Question, Isn't giving out raisins and tracts on that day considered participating in Halloween? One don't have to wait till Halloween to give out raisins and tracts. There's 364 other days that it can be done.
The Bible says "Neither give place to the devil"(Ephesians 4:27).
1) One can simply not open the door when trick-or-treaters come knocking.
2) One can put a sign on the door stating "I do not celebrate this day".

I give out tracts on other days of the year but if tricker treaters come to my house for treats, I "can" take the opportunity to point them away from Satan and toward Christ. The secular people turn Christmas and Easter into the non religious celebrations of those holidays. So, Christians can celebrate Halloween as a Harvest Festival where it’s not all about the dark side.
I celebrated it every year with my church until I really researched and realised that this was not something I wanted to participate in ... I explained it to my son and instantly he was fine with not celebrating it any.... To me it seemed as though he already knew that this was not of God and something we should have been part taking in.
My parents allowed us to go Trick or Treating for decades, but usually Christians usually do a Harvest Festival, l didn't learn what Halloween was about until later in life, so l do not engage, but l love pumpkin carving contest.

I question if the decorations like the skeletons, tombstones etc, could open a door for demons and that’s a risk I’m not willing to take

You are correct I am making a generalization. So is the gentleman in this video. He didn't isolate any particular candy, he referred to candy in general.
He pointed out a connection between Halloween and billions of dollars in candy revenue. I'm just saying there is a connection between the religion of Churchianity, and church generating billions in revenue. It doesn't matter if its SDA, SBC, UPC, AOG it's all church.

My understanding is christians can do anything they want as all they have to do is ask Gods forgiveness and they can then go out and do whatever they want again. Man did a great job in giving themselves a why out when they wrote that part of the bible.
