(VIDEO, LYRICS) A very melodious and over whelming Native American Indian folk song portraying a complete Life Cycle. This serene song puts the listener in a tranquil and meditative mood. It's a traditional native American song which gives thanks to Mother Earth for the river of life, and for the flow of life in our emotional heart and soul.
Thanks to Mr.Klause Ehlers for his nice comments, and has written the following valuable information
"The River Is Flowing" was a chant written in the 1970s by Sun Bear, a member
of the Chippewa Tribe. He was born in the White Earth Reservation in the North
of the United States on 31 August 1926 and died on 19 June 1992 at the age of
66 in Spokane, Washington. - Additional verses were added by E. Barrie Kavash
in her 2005 novel "Sacred Cave" which is set in North America's prehistoric southeast.
Beginning as small stream, the river begins its journey from the hills, where water is so clean, cold and pure. Joined by other tributaries and keeps growing in size. Flowing over spillways, and getting calmer, keeps on flowing through the plains and ultimately ends journey into sea as sun goes below the horizon. It is the cycle of life.
The population explosion and pollution has degraded our environment. The India and Pakistan has many beautiful rivers originating from Himalayas. The global warming is posing a continuous threat to the glaciers receding at alarming speed.
Rivers are our source of Life. We must work together to keep them clean and protect them.
The Song goes like this:
The River is flowing
Flowing and growing
The River is flowing
Back to the Sea
Mother Earth carry me
A Child I will always be
Mother Earth carry me
Back to the Sea
MUKHTAR
We sang this song in elementary school. We had a concept called Singpause, where we had 20 minute breaks every day where we sang songs from all over the world, and at the end of the year, all schools assembled into a huge concert hall where we sang what we’ve practiced. It‘s one of the best memories I had in my childhood and it will stay forever.
3 years ago, a Dr sang this song to my daughter when she was critically ill in the hospital. I tried so hard to remember the song but never could...today, we are back in hospital, and the same Dr is attending to my daughter again. I asked her of the song she started to sing it and then directed me to youtube . Here, i am playing "The River is flowing", to my daughter once again. This song is so special to us...thank you, Dr. Susan.
Good health and blessings to everyone reading this.
I pray for the speedy recovery of your lovely daughter.
Wishing your Daughter good health. What a kind and gentle spirit she has for a doctor.
Wishing all the best to your daughter🙏

It is a beautiful piece that u have produced. it shows the nature at its best with beautiful background and a lot more. it depicts life cycle of us humans. a child when born, just as the river takes off from its origin, , when it passes through the mountains in its early stages is as bubbly,. as it enters the plains, it starts maturing and grows wider, just as the humans mature. The river finally merges into the sea just as the humans ultimately meet the God. Very well done. Good luck AMIEN
One of the innumerable and eternal cycles of universe , represents eternity of our soul,

Ah. .. reminds me of the golden time of my life that I used to wander alone for days in the heights of Himalaya and Hindukush ranges among the trees, high snowy peaks; spraying milky waterfalls, zigzag blue rivers and inking blue lakes and singing wild birds and monkeys and grazing sheep. and much more than is saved for ever in the memory card of my brain
You are just a poet!

Beginning as small streams &water falls, the river begins it's journey from deep into the hills, where water is so clean, cold and pure.Flowing under small bridges, gets joined by other tributaries and keeps growing in size. Flowing over spillways, and getting calmer, keeps on flowing through the plains and ultimately ends journey into sea as sun goes below the horizon.

this song was actually was written by a woman named Diana Hildebrand Hull, a midwife & a healer. Although it is often attributed to Sun Bear, & often called a 'Native American' folk song, I first heard this song about 1979 or 80 in a women's healing circle. It's truth & beauty spread through many groups, including Sun Bear & his 'tribe.' I put 'tribe' in quotations because I do not mean the Chippewa tribe, of which he was indeed born a member. The Chippewa Nation have never claimed this song for their own 'traditional song.' Sun Bear's "Bear Tribe" was more akin to the "Rainbow Tribe," a New Age 'tribe' of seekers who wanted to learn about & follow Native American traditions. Diana Hull beautifully responds that although she created it, she no longer claims ownership to this song because 'it belongs to all
