The CPL24 by a country mile, one of my all-time favorite bags. I have it in the X42 OD Green high vis orange interior. Although the 24L size is just too big for me to use as an EDC bag, it is still one of the very few bags that I will never sell or trade off. For me, this year's EDC winner is the 840D CPL16.

I can't argue with the CPLs awesomeness. I too will be holding on to both sizes.

Cpl24 is ..... Acceptable, kinda, maybe, if ive had my coffee and in a good mood. The 16 is just terrible.

Have you ever done a review on a recycled firefighter 24hr pack? I have had one for years and looking to get another one soon! Great simple bag!

I agree. I have had one for years and it’s solid and practical and works for almost everything. I personally don’t want a collection of bags…seems like something women would be into, like collecting purses. I just want one or 2 to cover every use and then use them for years.

JB, I’m not criticizing your collection. I understand that you are reviewing them to help us buy the right one. I would love to know what you would choose if you had to get rid of every bag you own and just keep one bag!

I have the standard non-Pro Metro Backpack and love it. It can be tight fitting everything in, but the constraints can be helpful in preventing you from taking too much bulk with you. I can snuggly fit my Yeti 24 oz bottle in it's internal water bottle pocket, which I assume is the same size as the one in the Pro.

There are so many packs that on paper seem really great, and have so many little nuances and compartments and whatnot. But at the end of the day, it's still just a dyneema GR1 21L that I always go back to.

I want to love this bag. I have tons of HUB ecosystem stuff for work badges, keys, pouches, etc. But how does the bag drape when the main compartment is not full? For example, if you weren’t carrying the CAP2s? It looks the the VX42 is quite stiff and the bag would remain bulky.

    • @JBOutside1

VX42 is a little more stiff but not terrible

Thanks for reviewing the metro pro ! How do you find the comfort and overall usability comepared to cpl 16?
Sorry to ask this but could you also do a side by side comparison of the cpl16 vs metro pro?

Absolutely. This isn't a round-up of the best...merely a question of is the Metro the best?

  • @Golaso99
    @Golaso99 9 дней назад

The Alpaka dimensions seem way off - it's noticeably shorter than the CPL yet they are both supposed to be 18 inches tall? Also not convinced it can take 24l. Maybe it's the org layout of the bag? And the opening of the main compartment looks awkward. It has some great features that I'd like to see on other EDC bags but for me, it ranks last out of the other packs you had here!

yeah I noticed the obvious height difference while editing and filming. Wasn't ready for the big difference. As for the volume...I think it's a situation where technically it might hold that much volume when tested but in actuality when you put bottles and bigger items in there it's way less.

  • @tridiep9668

You lost me at under-padded straps. In 19 to 21 liter category with robust, comfy straps, rides high, second, outer pocket for computer, no hard bottom to dig in my back, top pocket, some org, What say you? Any brand....don't let this figure into decision, but was bummed my 1K Cordura GR1, didn't product my computer in a NYC downpour...

The Alpaka Metro Pro looks nice but is way too big for me for EDC. I wish they did the regular Metro in X-Pac. As it stands neither one is suitable for me. Either too big or an ugly material. What a shame.
