I totally get what you mean about timing and getting all “politics-outed”. BUT I HIGHLY recommend picking it up again when you’re ready because the depth of character of the MCs is just sooooo well crafted and the ~sPiCy~ moments is just sooo freaking poetically written. QJJ is a novel that I personally find I can’t speed through but if you just read like 1-2 chapters a day and just sit with the plot (also have the QJJ map and character map open in another tab) it’s soooo delicious and fantastic. *I’m just gonna paste few lines from chapter forty-something to hopefully entice you back into it. You’re not far from amazing chemistry between the two MCs I PROMISE!!!* “Lust interweaves with murderous intent. Hatred entangled with pity. Exactly who between them was the most detestable and pitiable one? …. Xiao Chiye kissed Shen Zechuan and he gave all he could to respond. …Letting Hatred turn into a bond that could not be torn apart. I mean yeah, reading something so small and casual after tgcf is really hard... So i went to something emotionally worse, 2ha. Also I'm definitely checking out all these novels

You're so right! I read MDZS and then SVSSS, so I basically left TGCF for last. And I loved it so much I couldn't touch danmei for 2 years... That book changed my life and now I can't help but compare danmei books to TGCF.
The experience of reading complete meatbun novels is going through the mtl. Yuwu and 2ha was such a journey 😅. Many danmei novels I’ve dropped because of the translation, either terrible grammar or dropped translations. jjwxc had a novel hunt I think earlier last year so many novels got locked and that was so sad 😭

I also started with MXTX novels and it took me a while to move on from TGCF. A Thousand Autumns was the one that really clicked for me after TGCF. Erha is also great but be prepared for the more difficult moments in it. And mind the trigger warnings! MXTX’s works are all brilliant and they set the bar pretty high but there are some really good danmei out there by other authors as well. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed ☺️. And thank you for the video idea! I think it would be a fun topic to talk about.
I read complete Qiang Jin jiu but I completely forgot what happened in it, it didn't stay with me like mxtx novels or priest novels. Loved YuWu maybe bcoz I like angst and also because MoXi and Gu Mang felt so real, specially moxi poor guy never ever got a chance to choose, atleast Gu Mang knew but well you got to read it till the end to know 😭

I’ve been told Yuwu is in the same universe and 2HA, but do you have to read all of 2HA first to read Yuwu? Would it spoil anything to start reading Yuwu or should I wait until I’ve finished 2HA?
yuwu is considered a prequel to 2ha! there are things that tie them together but are distant enough from each other where you don't have to read one or the other first in order to understand the plot. If anything they are like nice little easter eggs that just add more to the world building
So glad you also enjoyed A Thousand Autumns! It’s one of my favourites 😊. I didn’t finish Yuwu, but similar to what @chilaquiles said, Yuwu has some 2ha Easter eggs sprinkled in. It’s exciting if you’ve read 2ha but you don’t have to read 2ha first to understand Yuwu.
