I was able to take a sail the Saga Siglar. The I was an employee for E.B. Communications a Norwegian company who was a sponsor of the sail to New Orleans for the 1984 Worlds fair. I heard the crew was going to sail around the world, but not sure about that. I even met the King or Norway! I remember sailing with coworkers and the crew, drinking Akvavit on Lake Pontchartrain. Skoal! If the Saga Siglar was lost off of Spain, this boat must have been a rebuild.
I saw the Saga Siglar in Manistee Michigan, on a very foggy morning. It broke through the mist like it was passing through the very veil of time... amazing craft! Very good to see film of it on the web, I was greatly saddened to find out that it was lost in a storm. Thanks for posting this footage!
I was a School boy when Gaia visited Port Georgetown in March of 1992. I was given a post card autograph by one of the crew. it was very enlightening to see this Viking replica
I took the day off to see these ships come into Boston Harbor....An amazing sight to see them come in! Rune stones have been found in Cape Cod, and Maine "coon cats" have been genetically linked to "Norwegian forest cats" thought to be brought here by The Vikings. Nice to see these ships sail in these waters once more...

Saga Siglar befinner seg i dag på Håholmen, utenfor Kristiansund, inne i en "forelesningssal", nesten hele da!
1:32.........they are moving but no one is rowing! having a motor is cheating! no viking ever used a motor.
