23:55 - When Jaime start giggling you know it's going to be epic.
18:44/18:47 oops 🤣🤣🤣
“When you smile it makes me nervous” 🤣🤣🤣
Funny how all this years later, that's still one of Adam's favorite drill bits
Amazing Adam finally got Jamie to dress up!
that Jamie doing his regular ,normal morning jog, you fool.
It was surprising how normal it was for Jamie to be Mr. T
oh, Mr. T copies Jamie
not many people know this!
Good thing Adam used a mirror, if he stuck his face in front of the barrel he would've been missing an eyebrow.
"am I missing an eyebrow" 😂😂
"his other" eyebrow
You live - you learn
Haha classic! :D@@mohammadayaan1407
Just an eyebrow ? Ive done worse in my shenanigans...
Amazing, a Mythbusters episode I haven't seen before! What a treat, thanks for making these easily available!
2:42 that "don't touch me" was personal
Nah, it's just the script, you can see him smile as he said that
@mantequillaop8262 well Jaime was never a fan of Adam. That's well known.
26:26 I love how Adam's imaginary spinning wheel already left tire marks on the piece of lumber.
I mena, Jamie isACTIVLY working on the motor/wheel part, stands to reason they were testing the basic concept as they went.
I also love that the lumber they found came from the elusive plywood board tree.
40:46 - When one of the the old soundtracks started playing it felt like coming home... haha!
I want to see a myth busters episode on them making that wood launcher in 1hr from planning to complete
The A-Team's tree canon had a much wider internal diameter. Hence way more volume for the gas mix. With a gas seal behind the projectile, reinforcement around the canon and the right mixture, you get the intended result.
I felt they failed on that one.
The A Team also had a massive expansion chamber on the forks with the oxy gas mix running into it, and 2inch pipes going to each log.
Unfortunately so close but so far Adam and Jamie
No you don’t and if you do you get something that will blow 8 times out of 10, the thickness of the A team’s cannon is far less than what’s needed to sustain an explosion
You tested the myth yourself?
don't you just love it when a plan comes together ....
Adam goes Joerg Sprave 😂
Let us show you its features !!
The reason their propane/oxygen mix didn't send the lumber flying was that the lumber was too heavy and the mixture still managed to leak past it.
Even if they managed to seal it, it would most likely still shrapnel the "cannon" rather than send that lumber flying.
Remember that a 1 lbs cannon ball is usually being shot from a 1000+ lbs cannon, usually made of bronze or iron. Sure, you can make a cannon out of wood but it will fatigue fast.
Orange Cannon you need the [4] hairspray 😎 Nothing more nothing less! 4 is the perfect mix, with normal atmosphere
Three shalt be the number thou shall count
They did test a wooden cannon with a proper cannonball (I don’t know the episode number) and it was fairly effective, however almost a one shot weapon. The added friction from the length of the projectile and the lack of any wadding behind it made it basically useless
@@shonathomson7062 I'd love to see em test the Holy hand grenade 🐇💥💥😂😂
@28russ they were warned, but did they listen ? Oh no, nobody ever does !
🐇💣💥
it's heartwarming to see adam and jamie so in sync
14:04 "You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off"
The correct term for projectiles of that size is not “rat at tat”. Its. “Dakka dakka”
24:10 the Beavis and Butthead laugh 😂
I am Cornholio
All of this design was here on site 🤓. No No no, that magazine is truly Jörg Sprave of the Sling shot channel 💪😎
im so glad this was their final season, after the trio got fired/left it wasnt the same, adam and jamie where the semi serious pros and the trio where the goofy (well educated ) kids and that dymamic made the show after that the writing went down hill, the budget went down hill and you could see the on screen tension between adam and jamie so much more and thankfully they ended the show before grant tragically pasted away. while its a shame the last season didnt have much omff to it im happy they called it before it got unbareable
2:34 I wonder if that was actual hostile tension right there
The best and only way to watch this, ad free
Wow, about 25 years ago I was out hunting and I was talking to an old timer. He told me when he was a teen he made his own wooden gun. He used a small amount of some kind of home made gunpowder. When he lit the powder in the touch hole instead of exploding is was just fizzling out the touch hole. So he grabbed a stick and shoved it into the touch hole.
Next thing he knew the wooden gun was ripped apart by the force of the deflagration... his hand had the scar to prove it all those decades later.
The log splitting in this video kind of reminded me of the story.
Was waiting for Hannibal's tagline, and he NAILED it!!
They'd have made better characters on the movie version, and they just proved they could improvise weapons just like the original characters
Sad that they dont do this show anymore, they should had made a special episode with Jörg Sprave!
Send toilet brushes from a lumber cannon would be a nice scene.
Anyone else find it suspiciously convenient that air ratchet fits perfectly over the studs and hub of that trailer wheel?
You can see the cut marks on the socket when Jamie picks it up for the first time and the rubber marks on the wood as the magazine was getting tested before the wheel was ever near it.
Also, if you look at it. There are marks on it, showing how to assemble it. If you ever built something in a time crunch, there are so many details to leave out. That was prebuilt. Look at the trigger handle, why make such a complicated part instead of just a board. That handle alone took 1 hour.
But still, nice build 👌🏻
@@piti_rocksJorg Sprave might have shipped it from Germany as a kit. ;-)
@@piti_rocks and both might just use the same measurements for standardization. I've plugged a leaking kitchen sink with a garden hose, have a drill bit that fits perfectly in a dremel and mounted a computer fan with screws from the hardware store. And none of them are meant to be put together, they just use the same scale for fitting.
Considering the wrench is made to change tires, it is very likely it would fit on a wheel. Would it fit on exactly that wheel, maybe, maybe not.
The "old" trailer tyre was brand new and they had a single roller-ball transport bearing opposite. But hey, the A-team always got locked in with exactly the stuff they needed..
I don't think I have seen this one before.
18:47 and that’s why you don’t use oxy-propane in potato cannons
14:04 I love the way how Jaime sometimes gets kinda jumpscared from the explosions. 😄
Great episode btw. I love this show!
Buster watch your head! Bong Bong
How extremely lucky the guys found in that "abandoned lumber yard" a quite new trailer with tires that probably never saw asphalt - and even a likewise new torque wrench that happened to perfectly fit the wheel :D
It would have only taken a few seconds to show them trying a few sockets, I mean anywhere there's a Air wrench like that there has to be sockets .. same for grinding the reliefs for the wheel lugs to clear.
@Wulfrik671 definitely lol. But thats what made the show cool, along with the indestructible enemies
@@contra1124 and considering how craft the A-Team is depicted, they would surely find a solution even if it didn't fit. Like welding it together or cutting a fitting hole.
Jaime T is frigging EPIC!
Thank god the fuel tank was wearing safety goggles 😂😂😂 18:57
Mythbusters really started taking cannon safety seriously after they shot up a residential neighbourhood.
Need more of the previous seasons
Wait....did the announcer said "in 2002", as in "22 years ago"-2002? God Iam getting old...
The cannon doesn't because the 2x4 sits crooked in the barrel. You'd need a longer sabot than that little plastic disc to keep it straight ;)
Doesn't change the fact that the barrel wouldn't survive
Mariage of my favourite TV series from my childhood and Myth Busters. Hell Yeah!!!
Fool;P
I HAVENT SEEN THIS ONE OMG SO EXITED!!
This is Adam and Jamie busting roadside bombsXD
LOL i watch A-Team every day at lunch
i still love this haha
That was fun. Thanks!
I love these guys
This is an amazing episode! Full jamie and Adam. And I would be really afraid if they have an hour in a abandoned building. :) 🎉
Jaime always looks so serious, like doing a job, this time he looks like having a lot of fun
Verdaderamente , el mejor programa de televisión de su era
There's some neat easter eggs in the opening. Adam's tag has an email and says he has a PHD as an Astro biological time machine scientist. The door also says "Please close the door if you're the last one down."
Classic mythbusters is actually a good method to see how actual explosions look.
I miss this show.
24:03 That's a genuine Jamie giggle.... RUN
Love the show. Would have been crazy if they accounted for the Methane in the sewer
Very nice!
2:33 was perfect
2:32 "Don't touch me!", pretty sure unscripted and personal
Sounded like a funny gag to me
Welp, They've both admitted they weren't exactly friends
and never hung out outside of work.
But they were both Professionals and that's what made that show
work so well for as long as it did.
@@HauntedXXXPancake I can imagine that working with someone the whole day, quite closely sometimes when you aren't exactly the best match personality-wise would mean that spending any further time with that person would be detrimental. Perhaps if they had met outside of work they'd grow tired of each other much sooner.
@@DaReaperZ You can enjoy working with someone without being friends with that person.
That didn't dislike or hate each other. They just weren't friends, that's all.
@@Dennis19901 more like work friends, they did enjoy working together even though they were total opposites personality wise. Long story short, they just weren't in each other social circles.
RUclips Ad before auto blast scene: used car portal.
Nice one !
we need to see them trying the tank piloting scene lol
19:00 they had a lot of luck that the log didn't hit the valves. Flying gas bottles ain't no fun ;)
15:31 "Buster isn't dead, but he _is_ dying and is about to become _bankrupt"_
For that 2x4 launcher i'd get table saw, rise blade so only the teeth are sticking out, and mount a wheel opposite to blade to keep the boards down and onto the blade. May need adjust height of blade to hardness of wood in stock, but if you have powerfull enough saw, you can launch it as fast as you can shove boards into running blade.
Oh the early stuff was the best
That is a plan. Nice work
Leave it to the A team.... Painful.... Lol...
Mythbuster ❤
A tale of two cannons.
The propane cannon was basically a different solution to the tree cannon they did earlier, and there they had metal rings to keep the wood together. And that thing worked well.
And the manhole dynamite iss also a cannon. And a bit like the toilet cherry bomb from the Simpsons episode.
Even with plans and dimensions of that lumber throwing rig there is absolutely no way they built it in under an hour! I reckon even if all the parts were pre cut and test fitted it would be near impossible
Haha, Mr.J!
45:47 had me rolling. "Come on buster, WATCH YOUR HEAD!"
@46:05 jamies favourite joke ever most ive ever heard him laugh
lol don't touch me haha
This show was my childhood
42:46 when you pick up basic ground loot but still clap cheeks.
20:39
Propane is C³H⁸
Burnt result is 3×CO² + 4×H²O
So you need 10 Oxygen atoms, or 5×O²
So:
3×CO² + 5×O² ➡️ 3×CO² + 4×H²O
So the stoichiometric mix is 3 moles of Propane to 5 moles of oxygen.
The exact TV show version of the cannon clearly wouldn't work and is rightly busted. But feel they could have done a few things to improve it. First of all, surely the inner barrel would need to be a lot smoother? Looked pretty rough. Maybe put a ball-bearing underneath for the ammo to roll on? Also their stopper looked a bit flimsy and probably scraped the sides. Perhaps an unconnected wad of cloth would be better, like old muskets? And to explore even further from the original idea, different shaped ammo? Also perhaps reinforce the back part of the trunk-barrel (where the explosion happens) with rope or wire? And seal it airtight, except for the barrel opening, so the gas can only travel one way?
NGL .. Jamie looks like he's having a ball with this episode
This whole "season" by the looks of it. He's so much happier
I think Adam really gets on his nerves with the constant high 5s and different voices.
Should’ve seen him on the lawnmower episode
Why not make a A team/MacGyver TV show run by these two. Great stories with scientifically accurate gizmos that they can make for real.
I seen it all back when it was on the air😁
Lol there's a walrus dressed like Mr T
Wood barrels need to be reinforced with iron bands. It was done historically with cannonballs and gunpowder.
Nicely pulled off your attack against your bad guy's Was fantastic . and your sewer tunnel explosion was very cool nicely busted I do feel very sad for buster. Crash test guy
There was actually also a onscreen death on the A-team....
At the end of season 4 one of the generals who chased the ateam got shot..
For the log cannon, a main part they missed that might have changed a lot. The log had been scorched. Thus hardening it, but mainly air and gas would not get pulled away by the wood. The chard wood would better channel the gas out of the cannon.
Also the car flipped because it was speeding forward and hit another car right after the blast. You see it in the clip that the car gets blasted up hits a parked car and flips over.
18:54 Lol:):)
I really not expect that but iam sure wood cant hold much pressure anyway.
What about use gunpowder??
In movie you see loots of smoke instead of flames.
42:53 If this is not lethal hit iam president:)
A potato cannon would probably be the better weapon of choice if you are making something from stuff in a hardware store (if you're going for easy to build and gas) PVC should be available. And dowel over 2x4s
Wow cool
nice intro...
Love from Germany
Görg Sprave rules !
@@alexdarcydestsimon3767 it's Jörg....and no
I still can't believe these 2 didn't get along
Since long time a ago, kids here in my country using thick bamboo to make cannon. With kerosene as a fuel.. and the sound was incredible..
Is it just me or is Adam more like Burgess Meridith's "Penguin" than Hannibal with that cigar?
6:05 Duh...
You need a *seal* between the barrel and the ammo, and you need the perfect *proportion* of mixed gas and air to get a detonation, otherwise it's no more dangerous than a kitchen.
Mc Gyver was just an A-Team dropout 🙂
The wooden canon already cracked. Yes they fixed it but since its not fully sealed anymore, leaks and dilution will affect the results.
This one needs a revisit they should prepare a dozen or so wooden canons and do the mixture again to dial in the sweet spot.
We're gonna be super careful with this dynamite because it's shock sensitive: Proceeds to wave dynamite around.
Even the original version of dynamite actually is fairly stable, used and stored correctly. It IS shock sensitive but the shock needed to set it off is the force equivalent of striking it full force with a sledgehammer or similar. HOWEVER, under less ideal conditions, original type of dynamite can be extremely unstable and volatile to handle since it tends to sweat nitroglycering that dries out and can form crystals. These crystals could detonate by just normal handling by hand, dropping it on the ground, or shaking the container they're in too hard, because the friction between and within the crystals as they get crushed will set them off. Most of the time, however, the NG just seeped out and evaporated in hot and/or moist environments and couldn't blow up at all because there were too little NG left in them. 😆 Worth mentioning is that liquid NG is pretty difficult to set off. You can throw a bottle at a wall and it will only wet it. Hammerstrike or open flame will detonate it for sure, though.
Modern dynamite (which I assume they were using here) is very stable. It won't sweat nitroglycerin and you need to apply a helluvalot of force to detonate it kinetically. It too could become slightly more unstable if stored incorrectly and getting really old or really hot, of course, but they wouldn't have that in a show like this. Hence, I'd say they exaggerate the danger a lot and waving the dynamite in his hand like that was perfectly safe. Even if he had accidentally thrown it at the ground nothing could have happened. However, better they make people fearful of handling dynamite rather than giving them a sense of safety about the stuff, saving someone from stupidly blowing themselves up with some old explosives they find in their grandparents' attic. 🤪
@@mindtrocity6444 incorrect, I watched the film vertical limit and it was extremely volatile to dropping or knocking.
This time on Mythbusters: IEDs
Somehow I highly doubt that they built that wood flinging rig in less than an hour not a chance.
Something to note is that 5x the concentration of oxygen will lead to >>5x the boom. In a reaction between propane and oxygen there will be a non-linear relationship between the purity of the oxygen in the air and the rate of reaction. This is why we went from a meer puff to barrel exploding absurdity.
Lol why did they think a log half the size of the barrel would ever work?
I wonder if they did have lunch down there. 31:57
Always made me laugth that jamie genuinely thought he had the body of adonis lol
Did he though?
Well you actually see it in the reflection ^^
I'm not surprised it took 40 mins to drill the hole, using a grinder. An actual drill would have been better.
Never forget what Zaslav took from us
I highly doubt that this was built in one hour... Damn near impossible.
I also would have said Murdock, without hesitation.
