Guess this power struggle between the consumer and producer is going to be pervasive for many many generations to come.

The thumbnail is what is at stake with developers like Tencent having their grubby hands all over Elden Ring. Not intended to be click bait.

I really hope this never happens... There are far too many companies and ips who is being bought, exploited and straight up destroyed. Leave some stuff as is. Leave some stuff alone ffs!

I thought From Software was one of the last bastions of feature completeness.

Also that Nier game you was talking about was made into a gacha game. It was called nier reincarnation and it's still up on the playstore.

I agree, but it wasn't tencent. Tencent is the one who canceled the OG one.

Having played both Genshin and HSR, i don't think it's that big of a issue. You can easily just not play the game. If they wanna make a Elden Ring gacha whocares?
Just don't play the shit and move on with your day. xD

It's about the fidelity of an established franchise and idea. Genshin and HSR were created to be gatcha. Elden Ring wasn't.

Having played Genshin since launch, I can tell that the game being ptw is just false. I’ve never spent a dime and at no point I have been blocked in my progression. If anything, GI is pay to fast at worst. Also, I think Fromsoft has already ruined the sense of accomplishment in these games with spirit ashes. Those can solo endgame bosses while the player doesn’t engage with the bosses mechanics. Many players have completed the game like that, so the boss skip option is pretty much the next step. That’s what happens when you catter to casual audiences. I won’t play it cause I think it won’t work for these types of games but unfortunately, From has a hardcore fanbase who will play it because they think anything related to that company can be bad. Some are gonna get a bad wake. Also, the fact that we got news about that before any news about the DLC rubs me the wrong way. DLC better be mindblowing because between that and this unbearable silence, I might be done with this company.

@@Zambobazle imagine you take a game that is not designed with monetization in mind that has never included it before, port it to mobile, and then add a ton of microtransactions. That's gonna upset fans of the series. Look at Diablo Immortal.
